Ugh, sorry all. Just need to vent a bit about the evilbay. I had a bid in for a pin we've been watching for days now and at the last second I got sniped. I really hate that. There was no visible interest in the pin for the whole of the time it's been listed, but in that last minute it gets 2 additional bids on top of mine. Ugh! So frustrating. We made the mistake of getting too attached to it I guess and now that we didn't win the auction and it's not going to show up in our mailbox it really sucks. Bummed bummed bummed...

hang in there!

it's happened to me many times...but keep looking. I actually was able to purchase the same item later for less! Don't give up

Yesterday I had the same exact problem but it was a BIN item on eBay. I was totally bummed out because the pin was such a GREAT deal. I seriously cried for a little.. Right now, I feel like pins are stressing me out. Especially with the whole Tangled PODM ugh I feel really bad actually any Tangled pin in general is hard to get especially the older ones

Hang in there, you will find the pin really soon maybe even for a better deal.

;__; gah that happened to me too! There were these 2 pins that I kept looking at and I was the highest bidder.. until the very last minute. I was really sad. I hope you find another one and finally get your hands on it! May I know which pin it was?

that happened to me last week for one of my grails!
it was the first time ive ever seen it online and i havent seen it again...

good luck on fining yours again

Thanks guys! It wasn't the first time, and I know it won't be the last either. I try not to get too hopeful or excited about them (they are just little bits of metal after all) but once you get that image of the bubble mailer in your mailbox you're done for :/

@Clara -- I know what you mean about the Tangled stress. I'm going through that myself. Whole other issue, hang in there though!

@Milky -- It was a Star Wars pins with a walker and a snow trooper. So cool! If someone here won it, congrats to you. It's an awesome pin

@Kyle -- oh no! I'm sorry to hear about that! Fortunately this wasn't a grail for either of us but them again we weren't thinking we'd lose it and have all kinds of time to pine about it and make it a grail. So it very well could become one now

I was watching that pin, but was not home to bid on it. I won the Luke Skywalker/Yoda X-wing pin from that series last night, but was not able to bid tonight.

I do know your pain as well, and like somebody said, be patient, there will be other opportunities to acquire it. don't let this fun hobby frustrate you!! Always Have FUN!!!!

Good Luck on future purchases!!

That was basically my first ebay pin buying experience. Except i lost 6 auctions in about 3 minutes, 4 of which to the same d*mn person, lol. Learned a valuable lesson. Take it slow, and dont get too attached to the pins... Hopefully you find what youre looking for again.

I'm sorry to hear you lost your auction. I hate losing an auction in the last seconds! I've lost a few because my computer or internet connection decided not to move fast enough to get the bid confirm in trying to out bid the new bidder.

It seems that people are really good at last second bids. I got outbid on a lot of Stitch Auctions pins about a month ago; I put in a max bid of $500 with 30 seconds left and held it for 29 seconds; literally, 6 people bid on it with 1 second left and it sold to someone else for $560. No naming names, but the person then posted their new pins they bought in a DPF thread I started about my pin collection trying to show off within my thread. Every single one of the pins that were in the auction were in the pic they posted and only those pins (thats how I knew it was them btw), and they were bragging that they had an awesome collection after only 2 months of "collecting". But then I found a thread they started here on DPF where they were selling every single one of the pins that they had won in the auction and for far, far more than what they had paid. It seems their post in my thread was really an advertisement for what they were trying to sell. I was trying to get them for my collection, someone else won them and flipped them for profit.

To top it off, there are "sniping" programs out there that you can use that will literally put in a max bid digitally on your behalf with a pre-specified amount at -the- very last second and you don't have to be anywhere near a computer to do it. However, this is really dangerous because you have to entrust the program with your evilbay login info. Thats all I need, someone going in with my info and having a brand new iphone shipped to Algeria after they change my shipping address.

Oh well, such is evilbay.

Aww that's such a shame! Like others I can sypathise. I'm on a tiny student budge so when I see that I got sniped and it's not even for more than I could feasibly afford I get really bummed out

I've had a few good finds on the bay though so I can't complain, I am in loveeee with a few things I've bought on the cheap due to misspelt or poorly titled listings. E.g "Disney wings" was the title I got my toy story buzz lightyear wings from for around £5, the RRP is £80 on ebay for the lowest model version, my version was an £120 RRP. After 3 months of searching I was a blooming happy bunny!
But it goes to show you that eventually you will find what you want and get it

Yes it is. It's really my own fault. I should have put a higher bid on it to begin with. I just didn't think I needed to do it for this particular pin and by the time my husband found out that I didn't make a higher bid and we wanted to change it, it was too late and we didn't have the chance. Oh well. Next time I won't make that mistake.
