Alright, Stitch fans, here's my story.

Last Saturday at the Magic Kingdom, I was lucky enough to trade with a Cast Member for this adorable little Stitch and Angel pin: http://gallery.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi?pin=75658&sid=3940.1360816913

The CM told me that a Japanese couple had traded it to her not five minutes before I got to her. It's in perfect condition - no scratches, dents, bubbles or dips in enamel or glitter. The back matches the description listed in PinPics. The weight seems good for its size. I feel pretty confident that it's legit. The only thing that seemed strange to me is that it had a traditional pinback, not one of the Mickey-shaped pinbacks. But I've never had a JDS pin, and it's older, so I'm not sure if this was the original pinback, or if perhaps the original owners lost it, and used this instead.

I can post pictures at some point tomorrow (it's still tucked in my luggage somewhere, I should probably unpack...) but my questions are:

- Is it weird that it doesn't have a Mickey-shaped pinback? (probably not, these things are easily lost, but I'm curious to see what you guys think)

and

- Will it trade well? I'm one of the 9 people who have it listed for trade, and 61 people are looking for it... those odds seem good to me, but I've got no idea what something like this is worth in the trade world. I hope that question makes sense.

Not sure what I'm looking for for it... I might hold onto it for some upcoming releases, but I don't collect Stitch so I have NO idea where to go from here... I'd like to ultimately see it find a home worthy of it's cuteness. I simply don't collect Stitch!

Thank you guys! <3

P.s. I would advise asking Mary, MovingTheStars because she lived in Tokyo for awhile, and is familiar with Japan pins!

I love Japan lol and I'm learning it now ^_^ I would love that pin, but it isn't on my wants seeing as I'm not too obsessed with it. I can read the part on the left out loud but I don't know what it means yet haha I just know it says Sunshine I think...

P.S. My avatar says "Pin" haha xD

Awesome find. I do collect Stitch a bit, but I don't have any of the Japanese Stitch pins yet :( So I can't tell you anything about what kinds of pin backs they should have, etc. But you've gotten some good responses here so far so hopefully that helps. Great find! Congrats!

All the Japanese pins I have received (in original packages) have had the regular metal backs. Heck, some of the cast member only pins from the mid 2000s have had the metal clasp backs (Mulan as Sydney Bristow in Alias comes to mind).

Disney didn't start with the mickey backs until the late 2000s (2007/08) as I recall. Older Disney pins that I have still on card have the regular rubber backs with no mickey heads.

J'aime!! Awesome find in the parks! WTG! Yeah, i just got a Japan DS Hook pin and it had the same pin back as yours, and was stil on the card and original packaging. When i see you at the pin meet in March, ill take a look at the pin if you want me to.

Awesome find! This is what I would love to find on a lanyard. I would trade for it in a heartbeat!

Congrats on the find! I wouldn't be concerned about the back, every Stitch pin I have from Japan has a metal back as well. If you see anything on my traders for it I'd be more than happy to trade for it! Otherwise, congrats again and enjoy it!

Sorry friend, nothing caught my eye this time. I honestly might send it to a friend who's going through some tough times right now, I think it would brighten their day. I'm gonna hang onto it for the moment, but thank you so much for your offer.

No worries, thank you for checking! I hope your friend (or you if you decide to keep it) enjoy it very much! :)

Japan uses the metal butterfly backs on their pins. They prefer it. Sounds like you got a great pin! I would auction it but that is just me. I love to auction pins off!

Still haven't quite decided what I'll do with it, so I'm hanging onto it for the mean time. THANK YOU everyone for confirming the metal butterfly clasp/pinbacking, it makes me feel much better!

It just goes to show... Check EVERY lanyard!! :) I feel pretty lucky!!
