UGH...last night I dreamt about pins...
DREAM: I am working in a little store in what appears to be a downtown, honestly not unlike DLR Main Street. An old fashion blue mail drop box is located less than 5 feet from the front door. I go out to the mail box and pull down the drop slot bar and the big locked door on the bottom swings open. The bottom is half filled with pins that have postage stamps attached to each pin card but no envelopes and no addresses. I am totally freaked out I shut the door hard and return to the store.

I do not know what to do...from what I can see these are rare pins and dozens of them. Who does this? I'm freaked because I simply cannot go and retrieve the pins as I do not want to break a Federal Law… BUT I know these pins have a new home to go to and if I simply leave them the USPS will likely destroy them. I am confounded...do the right thing but break a Federal Law vs ignore them and know pieces of art & history will be destroyed. I start a search for the pins by back checking & cross referencing past sells, feedback and want ads on Ebay, DPF and FaceBook.

After hours of research I feel I have found the new rightful owners of the pins. I make my choice: break the law, retrieve the pins, place them in 8x10 addressed bubble envelopes with appropriate postage and mail them at a proper Post Office (I know how specific can I be in a dream) BUT it starts to rain and now I know the task of retrieving all these pins will take twice as long so I am sure to be caught in the act. Then all these customers start coming in the store. I have know idea how to be a sales person and I am not even sure what this store sales. People want rocking horses, perfume bottles, insurance policies, etc...I am frustrated because I must liberate those pins before the Postal Carrier arrives. The rain increases but the customers stop arriving, my chance to liberate those pins has arrived BUT then in walks the Postal Carrier...fade to black dream ends when my dog jumps on the bed “WAKE UP FEED ME NOW!!!!”

My Analysis: This is a separation anxiety dream. We are not abandoning our pins collections but we are absolutely "cleaning house". We are trying to finish sets & collections, obtain those grail wants we have always talked about and we are trying to not be seduced by new pretty pins & characters.

I have been watching some auctions on Ebay and following some sales & auctions on DPF…I even watch pins I love that have no place in our home and I watch the sales & auctions end and imagine them going to their new homes. I think I am going through stages of grief or least a few deadly sins: envy, greed, lust, larceny…LOL

Anyone else dream of pins?

Great story ! Was fun to read. I never had a dream about pins, though. Not that it would be that weird. As its a hobby of all of us. (And dreaming about football isn't strange soo...)

But I know pins can be really seductive. I have several pins I was only going to use as a trader, but at the end I kept them because they are really pretty.

That sounds like a very frustrating dream! I've had those kinds of dreams before, but I don't recall any pin related dreams.

I want to go to a place where I can buy a rocking horse, some perfume bottles and insurance policies all at the same time... that would cut my day in half! /lmao Seriously though, what a tempting situation. Sounds like you are a very honest and good person. Dreams like those (well, not exactly like those) always make me think. I haven't had a decent one in a while, but I tend to learn things about myself as well when they do happen.

I also do what you do on eBay, looking at pins I would likely never own, but am curious to see how much they go for and who they are going to or where they came from, watch patterns, etc.. I like to think about the big time collectors and what their houses must look like.

I've not had any pin dreams myself, specifically, but I think I've dreampt about the forum before.

If I dream about pins tonight I am sure it will be interlaced with images from tonight episode of The Strain...vampire pin traders who can't properly use the USPS

"do you want USPS insurance and tracking on the Gomes pins?"

Whoa! Pin dreams are the craziest!
That is definitely one of the most detailed dream descriptions I think I've ever heard.

I had a pin dream once, but don't remember it.
I only know because I was overheard talking about it.
Mumbling in my sleep about "The Tinkerbell pin in the barrel of pins over by the brochures."
Weird.

I'd say you're right though, and your dream is probably your subconscious trying to help you let go and give the pins new happy homes. But all of your everyday rationalizations are coming in the way.
But at least at the end of the dream you are given an opportunity to complete the task, if only the puppy hadn't intervened!

I don't think I've ever had a dream involving pins, but I get what I like to call pin release anxiety whenever there's a release I want to go to! It happened just last week on Thursday the 7th with the new 45th mansion pins. I couldn't quite decide on where & when to park for DTD. Fortunately, all went well. I slept until 8:30am, got to Pin Traders at 10:30am, and they still had all the pins left! Whew! Thank god I never want any pins released at DSF in Hollywood, because I couldn't go through that anxiety each month! There aren't that many releases at DLR that I want to go to, but any Haunted Mansion pins tempt me!

I do have pin dreams too! Especially when I am really excited about a new release! It gets to the point where I'm so active, I don't think it's quite sleep anymore. I haven't had a really fun one though like this one!
