Ever since I was 5 and was at Disneys premier year of WDW, I have love 20000 LUS, the ride, the movie, the mere concept sent a little boys imagination into overload,
When the ride closed, I was devastated, a true piece of my childhood was taken away.. Every time I saw a mock up of the Nautilus<like at the PIN event two yrs ago> my mind again raced to those days of watching all that crystal clear water all 12 million gallons, and those giant subs<hey to a 5 yr old they were giant>
YEs the fishing line tied down fish and other "creatures" in the display were a tad cheesy,
but it set my mind to racing about the world that lives just beyond the waves. A world that exsist with us, yet so seperate that we cannot imagine its daily routine, A world where we as the land dwellers were never going to fully understand or appreciate as we should, a world right next to ours, yet a lifetime and an imagination away.
Today I hold in my aging hands the closest thing to being a part of that world,
When im done running around the house bouncing off the walls and making the kids<who were born after the ride closed here in FL>stare in confusion and bewilderment, I shall place it in its reserved spot of honor,
I may not trade another pin for the rest of the year and still count 2013 as the best year of pin trading EVER!!!!!!!
