Recently I won an older Little Mermaid pin on eBay... I paid, and just now, while scrolling through pins, I see the seller has listed it again... I suppose they might have more than 1, but it seems kind of...off or something. Am I just being paranoid? I did email the seller and ask.
 
Hmm..well, they could be a collector and just had two of the same pin. Did the seller have 100% positive feedback? Or have feedback where past buyers seemed skeptic, or maybe the same pin was sold to another person before you also bought it? Usually that's the red flag. I hardly ever, if I do, buy something from somebody who does not have 100% feedback.
 
You can check their completed listings and see if they've listed the pin in the past. But you never know, they could just have been a collector that happened to have 2 of them. It does sound a bit fishy though.
 
Click on their username, find their items for sale page, then on the left there should be a bunch of categories, under "show only" click on "completed listings". Items with a green price sold, items with a red price did not.
 
I found the seller you're talking about. They sell a wide variety of pins, but none of them seem to be common scrappers or counterfeits. Coupled with over 1000 positive feedbacks in the last year, I'd say this pin, and this seller, are legitimate. He probably just had two of the same pin.
 
This may mean everything and it may mean absolutely nothing. Let me preface this by saying that I have not looked at or for this listing/seller so I have no idea who this is. But that being said, there was a time that when I purchased pins, I wouldn't consider purchasing anything less than my limit of 2 (and sometimes I would bring along someone so I could get more than 2 if I thought the pin would be a particularly popular trader (or I would ... shhh ... location hop if I had to go by myself). I've been collecting pins for quite some time, so it's possible that I could have multiples of pins that some people might find difficult to find simply because of the length of time I've been collecting.

With that in mind, it's possible that the same situation could apply to this seller. He or she simply could have been collecting for a long time, acquired multiples of his/her pins, and is looking to sell them instead of trading them - especially since, as you said, there is the 100% feedback score.

It's also possible that there's just the one pin that has been sold over again because something went wrong with the sale - on the buyer's end.

I think it's good that you're checking feedback and being cautious, but I wouldn't worry until you have reason to worry. I'd wait and see what the seller says before you decide to panic.
 
If your original question was in regards to it being counterfeit or not, I have never seen a pin of this style that has ever been counterfeited. These pins were do not have the finest quality and there was really no reason to make unauthorized reproductions. I don't know about this particular pin but it was not uncommon for people to get large amounts of pins like this. They were cheaper. I don't see anything fishy at all with that pin. However, there are serious red flags with a lot of their other auctions. I wouldn't buy their other stuff but this pin looks fine.
 
If I think a pin is cute I almost always buy another, or a few...in some cases several. I don't collect Stitch, but when I see one that even I think is cute, I buy a few because they'll net me the pins I can't get (like new DSF pins).

Then there's the times when I sent out TA and more than one person replied with a yes, so I went ahead and completed both trades. (When mail was cheaper to send 😉)

Then there are the times when all of us (Coach and the kids) all wanted a pin, then one or more of us decide to trade ours out for something we want more. There's constant turn-over here - keeps it fresh, fun, new, exciting. 🙂

When I started out and had 'only' one page of traders I couldn't get anyone to trade with me, so I loaded up on traders directly from Disney and Disney Auctions, especially when they had a clearance sale. Many of the pins are now hard to find because it's been several years. I took a break for awhile and was shocked how well my pins were trading when I came back. Then I was really hooked and the addiction took full root and the kids got in to it as well. 😉

I totally think it's normal if they've been around awhile for them to have more than one of a pin. No worries.
 
I would wait until you receive the pin. If it looks okay and all up to standards then it was a good buy. If it doesnt seem right them get in contact with the seller 🙂
 
I'm not sure if it is the UK ebay site or US one you are talking about but I have noticed one seller in particular selling a lot of DLRP pins over the last few weeks although they are all different pins but all core pins (their username is new, they do have a little feedback but not a lot, although all they do have is 100%). I got a pin from them last week and I'm 80% it's a scrapper. I am fairly new to pin collecting and it has made me (probably over) cautious now when buying from ebay.

The listing was incorrect when I actually got the pin and when I questioned it they said that was how they bought the pin!?

Is there a definitive list of scrappers anywhere? I know there is some info on pinpics and dizpins but not sure how concise or how old it is.
 
As a regular in selling for the past ten years, I am afraid to admit -not only do I have more than 2 to 3 of a pin, there are times I have had 20 to 30.

This can be for different reasons...some include:

I liked it, and bought as many as possible in the beginning.

Found it on sale for really cheap -so I bought the entire lot that I could (such as at the Cast Store or Disney Warehouse).

Was given extras of the pins after an event was over (like after a Cast event concluded, etc).

Kept getting the pin, over and over and forgetting to sell one, until I realized I had 5 or 6.

Helped my friend make a lanyard full of the same pin (12 in all at the time), and then has me sell the lanyard for him after he had his fun wearing it.

So...having more than a few, doesn't necessarily make it suspect. For me, I check how many times the actual pin itself has been sold all over, not just with one seller. Because scrappers & counterfiets usually go to more than one source for sales.

That does not mean much to me. A lot of sellers offer no questions asked refunds to disgruntled buyers just to keep their perfect fb. Their star rating and high feedback percentage also reduces their fees with Ebay, so they prefer to keep their buyers happy. In more than one instance, I was offered both the pin and a full refund when I was unhappy.

I would be very interested in knowing who the seller is and what pin you purchased if you have time to PM me. A lot of pins we thought can not be scrappered have sadly been messed with.
I am not sure what the situation is with but it is LE 100 and I have seen a single seller offer and sell it at least 6 times since past September on Ebay. The same seller is also offering Tink LE 250 Halloween pins over and over and over. He or she has 100% fb though. Go figure!

I agree that feedback on Ebay really means nothing. I know I have been dinged in retaliation for revealing that someone else was selling scrappers.... so, keep that in mind as well.
 
My family and I have often bought multiples of pins we really like. Sometimes 1 for our book and 1 for trade. Sometimes extras for trade. And at times we've accidentally purchased multiples (like Halloween this past year--I ended up with like 6 Donald Ducks). So, it's not terribly unlikely that a collector could have several for sale or trade.

Frankly, with the removal of the tables at Epcot I'll probably just sell off all of the stuff I have picked up over the years for trade. Most of these are not listed in PP as I just haven't had time to keep up with it. But, unless something changes dramatically, I'll start posting them here or on ebay.

As it was, I only traded a few days a year. Usually a day or two each trip. But with the changes, I'm turning into a collector rather than a trader.

The pins I will be selling will be on their ORIGINAL cards and in mint condition. No scrappers here.
