OK this is an odd situation that is a result of last weekends "Very Special Goofy Auction"...

What Happened... and why I am looking to our members here for opinions on what to do next...

This may take a few minutes, but I want you to understand the whole picture...

Bidding ended, time to choose a winner... I saw a picture of a Ray pin posted on the thread... I was soo excited I did not read the post clearly... In my mind... Ray Pin... all bids lose to Ray(my very special favorite character)... I announced that bid as the winner... I was quickly sent a PM that informed me that the Ray pin was not an actual bid...(I did actually shed a tear...as I posted..)... We then looked at the next two top bids...

Here is where it gets tough...

The original rules posted states "If offering a PoDM cell as a bid(You must include the actual scene offered in the post"

Both bids included multiple PoDM's in their offer...

But, one bid had a written description of the scene and the other just had the PinPics reference description... Although both bids were very close we eventually chose the bid that followed the rules better and provided the written description of the actual scenes which we felt came closest to us seeing the actual scene...

A new winner was announced...

Thats the end right???? Well not exactly...

A PM was sent to the winning bidder... "Congratulations on winning the Goofy Auction... We will choose the following cells and pins..."

A return PM stated that "...The cells we chose could not be found, but we could have these others scenes instead..."

Now what to do... We eliminated a top bid from a person who truly wants this pin due to their not providing the scene description... and on the other hand the winning bid was not the actual bid offered at all...

I am looking to you our honest and fair DPF members to give me some opinions on how I should handle this matter...

Please do not base your opinions on the people who were bidding on the item (that is why they are not named here) base it on what you feel should be a fair resolution...

Thank you in advance for your opinions...

I would say that they are both finalists and have to tell you what scenes they would send you for each of their offers and then determine from that who should win the le 100 wdi pin.

I wouldn't open it back up to anyone but the two finalists and probably lean towards just giving them time to produce pictures of PoDMs that match their bid. Letting them start from a clean slate would be okay as well.

I will say I enjoy watching these go down. Fun stuff.

To me someone who didn't follow the rules and tell you what scene they have is better than someone offering you something they never really had I know I lose track of what pins i have but before I make someone an offer I double check to make sure I actually still have that pin. If the second person doesn't have any good scenes then just reopen it is what I would say.

Out of all of those who bid PODMs in your auction I was the only one to supply a picture of the one I had and so I think it is important to follow the rules.

Other than that I'm not sure what you should do but whatever you decide to do I hope you are happy with it in the end

Take a look at all the bids again and select based on who you feel has the best bid based upon the new scene the winner gave you. If the person who came in second has a better deal then go with that one. In my opinion I wouldn't want to see the auction happen again open to everyone. It should be up to you to select the winner based on the bids that happened already.

In regards to the individual which bid pins they actually did not have, I believe you should post a negative trade reference for sandbagging. They earned it. If they have stated they may not actually have the pin in the beginning, it is one thing. But to offer something you do not have is not good form.

You should definitely go with the 2nd or 3rd place winner (whichever I was) because I am awesome and worked hard to find pins on your signature. Wink, wink! No really, I would just do whatever you think is best cuz it's your pin! This isn't a legally binding contract, just a fun auction. No stress and get what you want out of it!

Seeing as this type of trading is new to DPF, and you also didn't read carefully, I would have, before declaring the true winner, posted a reminder or contacted the bidder in question and reminded them of the rules of needing to post the actual scene in the first place.

That said, there is nothing I hate more in trade negotiations than when someone agrees to a deal and then comes back with "whoops, I don't actually have that pin anymore." How difficult is it to verify that you have the pins in questions, and they are in good condition before agreeing to something? And to make it worse it seems whatever the person offers next, it is always less than the original offer. It's never, "I screwed up, got you all excited and then pulled the rug out, so I'm going to offer you a little extra to make up for it."

On Ebay, if the winner fails to complete the transaction the seller can make a "2nd chance" offer to the next in line. What you agreed to can't be delivered. So that seems appropriate here.

OR...just a thought...top 4 bidders could be transported to an artificial arena where they fight to the death. This could be broadcast to the public as a reality TV show used to strike fear into the souls of pin traders across the districts...Uhhhh, I mean states. I've been practicing my knife throwing skills. Just saying....

Pin-Dome! Two traders enter, one trader leaves. LOVE IT!

I think you are trading a very nice pin and it would be perfectly fair of you to trade it for the scene you want most! Keep it fun!!

Thank you all for your input... We have sent a PM to both leading bidders...

They were given 24 hours to re-submit their actual bids including pictures of cells...

We will base our decision after both offers have been received...

Thanks Again all for your help...
