Did you see what one poster had said in the comment section? So mean, LOL.

He wrote, "I’ve known and met some of these “avid” Disney collectors.
They are ALL a strange group, a little off center. Their lives are centered around an imaginary world, that they think they are part of. Kind of sad actually."

lol.. we are disney fans... not trekkies :eek2::eek2:

Trekkers, not trekkies, and trekkers behave themselves better than a lot of Disney fans.

I've been in a LOT of fandoms and hobbies, and with the exception of gamers, Disney fans are the worst behaved bunch I've been around. ::shrug:: That's not to say there aren't a lot of nice folks, too (it's a big fan base)...it's just my observation.

I too have been to a LOT of fandoms and gaming events and they are the rudest bunch of folks I've ever met. They think they know everything and if you are new, heaven forbid if you open your mouth to say something. I been pushed, shoved and even suffered broken bones by these "fans". I've never been to a Disney event where the folks in the line weren't friendly, talkative or helpful in some way. I've given money to people I didn't know in the front of line and ask them to make a purchase for me and never been burned. If everyone were a nice as Disney fans, the world would be a better place. If you don't like Disney fans, why stay here in the first place. Just my observation.

That's so silly. If I my life was centered around an imaginary world, then I'd actually listen to the voices in my head. Instead I just ignore them.

:p

It really depends on where you hang out in the Disney fandom. Disney fandom on LJ can get pretty nasty, and so can the fandom on Tumblr.

Can't say it's as bad as Supernatural, though. That fandom can get crazy.

+1 reminds me of a funny sticker " The voices in my head said....Stay home and clean the guns today" 2nd best sticker " I do all the things the little voices in my head tell me todo"

lol :)

i used to work at a motercycle shop. there is over 2500 in that set of stickers.... lots of them make a good side by side match.... "Im not totaly worthless...i can b used as a bad example" and
" Famous last words....Watch this"

I tend to agree. Look at the designer dolls and the awful things people are saying and doing over those. There's a lot of great people in the Disney fandom. But I've also been in a lot of fandoms and hobbies over the years, including many internet forums and events in person. And I've got to say, a big portion of Disney fans can act very poorly at times...I'm kind of shocked, because a lot of it is things I never saw in other communities.

Margaret,

No one said you had to agree with me. A slur was brought up against a certain fandom, and I was just pointing out what I had observed. Your experiences have obviously varied (although weren't you talking in the doll thread about having a bad experience in line once...?). Obviously, there are all levels of people in all fandoms (the good, the bad, the ugly, and the indifferent). But when "rating" them for most bad experiences, Disney is way up there for me.

I've never been to a Disney event where the folks in the line weren't friendly, talkative or helpful in some way.

Good thing you missed the Master Gracey release, then- people were being pushed into fixtures. I, myself, was almost trampled during one Grad Night event.

I've given money to people I didn't know in the front of line and ask them to make a purchase for me and never been burned. If everyone were a nice as Disney fans, the world would be a better place.

Really? Never a bad trade, been sharked, gotten a scrapper, or had a trade go south? If so, you're one of the rare and lucky few.

If you don't like Disney fans, why stay here in the first place. Just my observation.

Nice passive aggressive tack-on at the end, there. I'm here because I love Disney characters and stories (the company and bad fans could use some work). I'm here for information, because I like the hobby of pin collecting and trading, because I do like certain people in it, and because we discuss other aspects (like Glee, Unicornos, panini sticker books, etc.). My personal opinion about the overall behavior of the fandom doesn't mean I don't like the hobby, or the forum.

I'm not trying to get into anything here- I was pointing out that fandom behavior is a matter of experience, and mine has been much worse here than in other hobbies. I don't know if you took it personally or what and felt like you had to defend the honor of the fandom, but like I said before...you didn't have to agree with me, and you obviously don't. But I do think it's kind of strange to defend ALL Disney fans...you know there are some nasty people out there.

::nods::

And you know...another reason I think it's so shocking is because it's *Disney*- you *expect* it to be nice and friendly and such. I always expected there to be sharks and surly people...it was the NUMBER of them that surprised me.

Ive done the whole following bands around, been to gaming expo's, been to film conventions and this is by far one of the most nicest areas ive ever come across!
You cant tell me that if you really loved a band but didnt have a ticket someone would go out there way with time and money to get you a ticket. Where as here people do go out there way with time and money to help you get that pin that you would love to have!
Im going to a convention at the end of the month and practically going to be dressed as Naruto...now you cant tell me that isnt living in an imaginary world and its nothing to do with disney!

(I like Chestnuts.)

Tis true though that people of all fandoms have good, bad and horribly ugly people in it though- I am a gamer. a World of warcraft gamer. The people on WoW are far more brutal than the people here have ever been to me. (even though disney fans have been very rude to me) There are all kinds of sexists, racists, biggots and just plain and flat out RUDE people, but...there are also very nice people on there as well. I actually met my fiancé on there. :)

Don't judge an entire group just by how some people act.

Agreed, and same, just as the Doctor instead. Speaking of which we need to figure a way of making sure we say hello!
