I'm not into the "scene" pins and just an outsider looking in to see the wants of pins and since you asked, I think it's a little of both.

I just viewed eBay as you did. The scene is missing a major character. And yes, the two with the 3 characters did sell for around the price you quoted but now buyers and traders are all looking for specific scenes since the dust settled and people are trying to find the:

Door scene with all 3 starting to walk in (+/- $50)
The Ghost scene with all the ghost (80-$150)
Mickey facing the ghost with the gun. ($50-$80)
Donald facing the ghost with fist up. ($39-$60)

And the other scenes are either finding their way of value and collection.
