In all fairness several of us have been working on this for many moons. It's not complete yet but my hand has been forced. I think you will find it to be the most technically advanced and fun db.

http://www.pintradingdb.com/

Browsing it works fine without logging in, but to add pins and pics and lists you need to register. If you already registered at disneypinbb a few months back then just use that login. That's right, one login for the forum AND the db. Don't be alarmed, you can use the db without using the forum, the forum is just where you get the login.

So far we just have the pin and pic uploading working. In the coming days we will implement: search/filter, pin relationships (the basis for trade assist), comments, and voting. There will be prizes and credit will be given every month for the best uploaded pic for each pin. I also know I will need to add more category keywords. If you consider yourself a collector of some type of pins, and that category doesnt exist, please let us know.

What can you do to help?
-the database needs a name. suggestions welcome.
-upload pins and pics. This site is a competition for who can upload the best pics, so do your best.
-It will be immediately clear that graphics and design are not my strength. We are looking to bring on a graphic designer in exchange for 10% of the site ownership. Responsibilities include making the html template beautiful and creating loveable graphic icons.
-We will later need donations of cash or pins(for the prize pool) to maintain the hosting services which will balloon if the site succeeds. But that's later.

I am usually in chat and prefer to discuss things there, but feel free to comment on this thread.

Ryan, I would love to help with adding pins to the database. Well, the pins I have in my possession. How many pictures can we add per listing? Would you prefer a couple different pictures and the backstamp/back? Sorry for the questions. But I would love to be of assistance.

Yea if you can take 2 pics that show different but important information that is great. Just try to make them as useful and pretty as possible so people will vote for them.

Larry (my hubby)says name it pin-inventory,your source for pin traders around the globe..

can take pics of all PTN paris pins for you if you wish? just do you want information similar to pinpics detailing? as I dont mind making a description up for each pin.

Also is there going to be a way the pins will be numbered rather than just pictures in a list?

I am voting Pin-ventory as well... DPBB's DB is a mouthful. lol

Ryan has been working on this during his off time for quite a while. I gave him a bunch of idea's and I REALLY hope the community as a whole can work together to get this, and Ethans database, running well. Both will have different aspects we all like.

Ryan, i will start messing around with images and such this weekend some time. With the holiday we have beena bit busy here at home. :)

I am so glad this is ready to get started! woohoo!!!!!

Hi Ryan. I can send pictures of pins in my collection. May I suggest that you ask people to use a white background when taking pictures? That way, there will be a more uniform look to the picture gallery.

I have to admit that I haven't looked at this database (or the other one being made) yet, but I'm really excited to see what these will look like. A couple of questions, though, about entering pins.

Fantasy pins: Do you want these entered? I am talking about the G-rated ones, like I have a "Stitch holding a Volkswagen (Punch buggy)" or a "Kronk and Yzma Fan Club" pin. Should these be entered in the database?

AP/PP/Special metal colors: Do you want these entered as their own pin, or do you want to have it as a "sub-page" on the actual pin entry?

It might be good to have a blanket policy now, before too many get entered in the database. Thanks, and good luck with the database!!

I don't get what you mean by this statement?

I'm having deja vu.

This reminds me of when Dizpins closed. Everyone was making their own forums.

I don't think we need to require white backgrounds. I just want to see the highest quality images ppl can take. The community can vote for the white ones if they want. Please just put AP/PP info into the description for now. If your pic is AP or PP just note that on the pic discription (each uploaded pic gets its own optional description). And also as of now let's limit the db to authentic disney pins.

Dang they told me not to say that. Just means there are several alternate dbs rushing to market. It's cool tho, I only have 2 speeds: not started and rushing to market.

Instead of rushing to make your own, why don't we try all working together on ONE?
Pinpics was great...until it wasn't. I am all for a new database but this is going to get old fast if multiple ones start popping up.
