How in the holy heck did the below become a $500+ group of pins?

I mean, that pirate Mickey is awesome, but only because I like pirates (& I wouldn't pay that much - or even a quarter of that much! - for it).
I'd guess the price is because of whatever the source is - new traders/sellers are always going to hope they have something really valuable, & auction site prices are not one with reality.

Unless that really is considered fair value for these pins (I'm new enough to be unfamiliar with those specific Hidden Mickeys), in which case I have no idea!

I think the most recent sales might (unfortunately) be real. The earlier sales were likely fake/influencer sales. I wish I could save people from believing the early sales are real. There are too many uninformed traders/collectors out there.

I bought 3 or so Maleficent Ds at the last Kraken PTE event I attended. I thought $12/pin was at the top range, but I love that pin, so I bought them anyway. I shake my head to think 2 months later these $12 pins are selling for $100.

On the flip side I traded away the Casey Jr. Train D 3ish weeks ago for an OE pin. Win some you lose some. 🤷‍♀️

The fake sales were in reference to the Minnie chaser. Not one of the 4 here but my comment was a general comment that there is market manipulation happening according to several people on FB. The Pooh, there is someone on Facebook who posted a whole board with just that pin, probably about a month ago.

I have a Pooh in my trader bag... I think it might be my actual Pooh though. There isn't one in my keeper book. Or there are more pins somewhere I have forgotten. Or my IRL friend who gets me DLR HDs still has it. Or... Still need Maleficent, but I don't have $100.

I have Maleficent. I can't remember if she if part of one of my sets or not. I will let you know and we can trade.

I can actually squint to justify why some of these might go up to $100. I am old enough to remember when the original WDW Cast Lanyard set came out and people were going bonkers over Patriotic Donald. He could sell for $50 in 2002-2003. With the Dalmatian and Pooh Train up there too. So considering inflation over the last 20 years, that's $90. This high price is what led to counterfeit Cast Lanyard pins in the first place (US person commissioned, not factory overruns). I'd guess there are more of these Ds (except maybe the Minnie chaser) than those original CL pins, though. Since demand for this series is long and well-established, and pins available via trading or packs. While the first set was an unknown and demand swamped a limited supply.

I traded my duplicate Mickey in August trade arcade and just checked. I traded it for another D (Belle), so even if values aren't equivalent, I'm okay with that.

Patience. I don’t see how these values hold.
I'm being patient waiting for the Orange Bird ears. I'd really like to have them for my collection some day, but not at the crazy price/trade value they're going for now. I was lucky and found the only other ears I wanted from the set (Ariel) on a board at EPCOT back in January
