I'm confused...you mean like the DSF employees? Why wouldn't they be at the release...

EDIT: or was that a dumb question lol xD SO OUT OF THE LOOP!!!

No kupo, not dsf employees. Personal employees...Nuff said. Don't want to start drama

just spoke with a very reliable source who spoke with wdi representatives yesterday and nothing was mentioned about a rapunzel cast set..but then again, the wdi peeps could be mum about it

bahahah i was joking lol i said the news will come out this week lol

I only do "Live from Hollywood" threads (when I'm in town)

Don't know if this is worthy of a multi-day campout, but just be warned that all of Hollywood Blvd (and probably much of the sidewalk, at least on the Chinese Theater side, not sure about the DSF side) will be closed all day Wednesday until early Thursday morning for the Oblivion premiere... That means Tom Cruise, Scientology, and probably a disgusting amount of security... I'm betting people won't be allowed to loiter anywhere in the area (and parking/traffic will be a nightmare as they usually rent out the parking lots in the area for parking/after parties)...

Still gives you a good 36 hours of camping fun though... If this was a Friday release, we'd probably be doomed...
(Of course if they go back to wristbands on Fri that might get complicated. I know people want to spend multiple days in the alley for this one...)

They should consider wristbands, but not allow people to leave and come back. The wristbands would just let them know who is in line so people can't show up a hour before and sneak into line. I believe they did something similar with Brave.

Numerous people have suggested this very thing at dsf only to fall on deaf ears! The first wristband events were the best ones! show up get your wristband, and no line cutting drama.

me two the last one i had to deal with was PODH HM they i got there at 6am and they split us up in lines ad did not merge us so we got screwed out of the pins because they didn't handle it right. i ran to the stand by line and got my two but i did have to fight for it they only wanted to give me one

It sounds like this was a DLR release. At DSF they handed out numbered wristbands as people arrived the night before. the number on your wristband was your number in line. you had to be in your spot 1/2 hour before opening or you lost your spot. no exceptions. the wristband only saved your spot to get a voucher, the voucher and the wristband together guaranteed you a pin. it was a great system in my opinion. Whoever was in the 140 range did not have to worry about whether or not people were gonna cut.

Wristbands worked when they were used to keep the order. Their use became less effective when they started using wristbands as a place holder and allowed people to leave the line, which resulted in the double waits for wristbands and then for pins.

I get the feeling that DSF has abandoned the wristband idea altogether and have simply adopted the honor system. If you see line cutting, report it. If you don't say anything, then the cutters get away with it. Unfortunate, but I think this is probably the way it's going to be for awhile.

I remember the FIRST time I ever went to DSF. It was 1am and it was in July for the BT release that had the Surprise Beloved Tales UP. I remember all I had to do was walk up to the security guard (any time) and asked for a wristband and they gave it to me and I could have gone home (but I decided to stay like a clown). Why couldn't they do something like announce randomly ("we are issuing wristbands now" or something of the sort) and that won't create any lines. Any legitimate criticism or flaws with my statement/idea are welcomed and explained is a civilized way.

Popular PTD releases were surprises and the fact that they were surprises did not equal zero line ups. In fact, they created an instant frenzy and lines. Those things sold out in hours, due to the popularity of the character, instant ability to at least quadruple your money through pin flipping, or to essentially trade a gold bar and bag of jewels for a coveted grail pin.

Lines are a fact of DSF releases now and until the pins no longer trade, sell, or need to be collected by more than 300 people, there will be lines.

I get that people want to be rewarded for the time they put into waiting in those lines and that people would feel a lot better if a wristband system would lock in their place in line so they wouldn't have to worry about the line cutters. But it looks as if the wristband idea isn't something that is going to reappear and what we are getting is the honor system.

See line cutters? Report them and DSF will investigate and see if they can do something about it.

Not a perfect solution, by far, but I don't think DSF wants to babysit a bunch of adults and would rather let the adults police themselves. And why shouldn't it work? Surely, there are far more honest folks than cheaters.

I like the original wristband idea, but even more I would prefer that DSF NOT post the latest pins on Facebook until a week or so in advance. When they do it a month or 6 weeks out, it gives everyone time to create a ridiculous amount of angst, stress and, worst of all, PRESALES. This is all ridiculous and not what pin collecting should be about.

PRESALES. This is all ridiculous and not what pin collecting should be about.

sadly every Hobby has this, as long as there is money there is pre sellers. Money is tight and any extra money is helpful to pay bills and buy food for yourself and your children. It's a great thing really that means the hobby is growing. If you want the pin than get in line and get the pin if not please don't get mad that others will put in the time and effort. This is not directed to you but a general thought.
