there's always an unofficial line, it actually makes it easier/safer for everyone.
 
I don't get the whole unofficial line thing. If no one can line up til a certain time, how does being in an unofficial line put anyone "ahead"? Couldn't anyone just go to the start of the real line when the lineup officially starts? It technically isn't cutting, since the people in the unofficial line are in an UNOFFICIAL line...:dunno:
 

DSF says they will not honor an unofficial line, so technically once it's "go time" you could cut the unofficial line and DSF just puts a wristband on the next person with their arm out. I suppose shame and public abuse, possibly the threat of physical violence, is what is supposed to deter people from cutting. DSF puts it on us to police ourselves now apparently. Eventually one of these releases will get out of hand and then what? I think there is enough people in the "cool kids club" or the "DPF royal family" that once a big enough group has amased most people won't try to circumvent the established process, which those clubs have deemed is an unofficial line with names in order on a piece of paper. Only problem is the paper is meaningless to both DSF and to those people because apparently it's cool to cover for friends. Let's just turn it all into high school and see which cliques win? Maybe we can do a popularity voting contest next time to see who gets the chance to even buy pins.

I wish the Soda Fountain would post something. I wish they would say "No lines allowed until Thursday". Having to spend 3 nights would be nuts.

I don't think anyone will honor anything. That Pixar release was insane!! And this is 10x worst.

The pixar event last July when they did a bum rush in the alley and had 2 lines.

Maybe beeatingu hasn't been to one of the recent ones where people line up around budget rent-a-car. It is more orderly than the Pixar event. That one was insane and the pin traders agreed something had to chance. The problem with that release was the people that got lead to the front of the line while 140 angry onlookers didn't know what was going on. DSF struck a deal with the parking attendants that they would lead people that stayed in their cars to the front. But they didn't tell everyone that which was unfair. I paid to park in that lot like those people did but apparnetly they got special instructions because they came earlier or something? It was like watching people chosen to survive an asteroid strike while everyone not selected watched from the fences. Chaotic yes. Last few releases, not so much.

The last few releases DSF allowed part of the official line to fill up the alley. Then they cut it off. Then the unofficial line starts in front / beside Budget rent-a-wreck. Then when new people come to join the line, everyone points to the right and they find their spot and wait. That was how it was supposed to work for last years Valentines Day but everyone was rushing and no one cared so people cut. Now people watch who is next and tell people who try to cut to get lost. We haven't had a situation yet where someone cut and we had to tell security. This release I can see that happening. So we'll have to see if DSF lets them go and shrugs their shoulders, or if they tell the person to take a hike to the back of the line. I think we all agree we hope it's the take a hike route!

All DSF did with this new guideline is give people that were unwilling or unable to do a 2 day campover new hope. Now twice as many people think they're back in the game. SMH

What infraction would you get? For conspiracy to cut? haha. I sense from beeatingu's tone she plans to bum rush, we'll see how it goes. I just hope they have wristbands. They didn't give them out at the Jessica release for the overnighters. There's no way to garauntee who is for sure in line that way. All it takes is 4 friends to turn into 5 and suddenly #150 is out. Trust me, I know, been there done that. PLEASE DSF if you are reading, which usually you are, provide wristbands at 7:45pm then!

So then those who choose to associate with that line will all feel distraught towards those that took it for what it was... Not an official line.

There is no conspiracy, people will show when they show. If you want to blame someone, whoever was the FIRST to mention anything should be blamed.

So what/ where has an unofficial ever taken place?
 

I officially want to say that "unofficial line" should be the new unofficial buzzword of the year!
