I like this series but I don't see why they are as popular as they seem. Don't get me wrong, there are several I'd love to own but I don't understand why they go for so much on eBay? Anyone care to enlighten me?
Thank you,
Kyle

I think it's just the fact that they look nice all together, it's a challenge to get them all, the artwork on some of them is absolutely beautiful. The older ones are harder to get because the series wasn't popular for quite some time so as they were coming out, a lot of them sat on the shelves for weeks and were bought by tourists and people just passing by. So not as many of them are in circulation within the pin trading community. That's my take on it, at least!

The way I view Beloved Tales is that they are beautiful pins and a great way to collect a series that encompasses nearly every Disney movie. What I often find is that I would love to own a pin of a lot of different movies I love but rarely do you get a series like the Beloved Tales that has pins from all these movies, big and small, are all the pins are quite tasteful. PTDs are another great example and they also are fairly popular nowadays (decreasing, but still popular). Except PTDs are more targeted to individual characters where as BT's are whole movies. If BT's weren't so expensive I'd jump on board.

Did they stop making these?

Well at the current time, there are exactly 50. They haven't said whether or not they will continue the line and 50 is a pretty nice number if they wanted to stop (100 is better lol) but there is just such a wealth of Disney films they have yet to tap into that it seems silly for them not to make Beloved Tales out of more movies. I mean: Tarzan, Brave, WiR, Frozen, etc. among so many other movies (that aren't so recent) that have yet to get the BT treatment and the line is at least fairly popular (dropping in popularity but still nice) so it would be a shame if GSF stopped them.

Alone, some, may not be impressive (The 3 Little Pigs?) but together as a set they are breathtaking. In fact, some alone (The Little Mermaid/Beauty and the Beast) are just plain pieces of art. They are really nice. I also really really love that they were all the same size so it looked like a really cohesive set (until Wall-e arrived).

They were actually pretty popular not too long ago, but many gave up because of the ridiculous prices and the fact that there are so many pins (same thing with Marquees and now with PTDs). If you had to rank them in both popularity and difficulty as COMPLETE sets it would be Marquees > Beloved Tales > PTDs.

If you're wondering how they look as a set:

There are always rumors, but I highly doubt they have stopped making them....I feel that they're a little afraid and still angry (I would be) with what happened last time they released a set of these pins. Although this new system kind of stops all the problems (it just takes longer to do a release).

haha if you think Beloved Tales are crazy now you should have seen what they went for on eBay 6 months ago! The have definitely all took a hit.

But they are very nice pins AND anything DSF makes is huge right now, PTDs, Marquees, BT's and there regular releases...

You can ask the same question for Marquees, general Tangled pins, Frozen, etc… They sell on Ebay for a lot because the demand is high, I guess.

I really like them because they capture the essence of each film (in my opinion). They depict an important scene or image from a Disney film and I love seeing them all together. And as some already said, some of them are plain pieces of art. They're also bigger than I expected, I held one in my hand once and I instantly fell in love.

Simply put pin collectors love pins of actual Disney scenes like the BT series. Disney does not make to many quality pins of scenes but rather just random character poses.

except that not all ore scenes from movies... take cinderella as an example of What were they thinking? regarding the series.....

At 50, while it is a nice number to end a series on... they included some sequels in the series, but forgot other fantastic movies, and other sequels. I think we have NOT seen the last of them, but GSF is holding off making more until we all settle down about those releases.

I guess since no one told you this part I will do so. Many of the people that are in the hobby now are just about the money. So these pins are so cool and fun to get because you can resell them for a lot. (not to say everyone sells them)

My favorite story about these pins has to be how a box of the pins were lost. It went missing and now the number of pins is unknown. This story is the same one you hear in many collection hobbies. The goal is to make people think they are worth more or harder to get. The sad truth is that its just hype. The pins are the same as many others. lol silly people just want to think they own something better than everyone else. :anxious::anxious::anxious:

All I know is that they can stop making them once I get a WiR one for my collection :) An Atlantis one featuring Ms. Helga Sinclair or Emperor's New Groove featuring Cat Yzma aren't bad either ;)

replying to the red part:

Kory, thats the R/C princesses your thinking of, NOT the DSF Beloved tales that this thread is discussing. :)

:werd: I am sorry. I guess I hear so many silly stories about what pin is worth so much and why, that I get mixed up at times. But no matter the story ever since the Up V-day pins 2 years ago, we have had a lot of new so called collectors that really are after one thing. ($$$$$$) DSF or what ever name they want to go, by is just a money shop. Not much Disney Magic left at that shop. Save your time and money, just get pins at DLR while at the parks. Family fun and good times at the parks is what pins are all about. Much better memories than all the trouble and bs that takes place in Hollywood. If people would treat pins as a side special Disney thing and not the b-all with my only good feels depend on pins. We would all be better off and a lot more happy.

PS. These are just my thoughts and not a dig at anyone. I just dream of a Happy Disney hobby and feel its what Walt would want for us all. Positive Vibes and Peace & Love.
