How many times has this happened to you? What pin did you get ahold of with the intensions of trading, but then changed your mind on?

Jessica 4th of July 2006.....this actually ended up inspiring me to collect patriotic pins as well....

Extra Alice PODMs. I have around five that are theoretically for trade and yet I haven't had any desire to let go of them in the several years I've had them. :D

The Cinderella: A Dress for the Ball pin, from the HSN Disney Storybook Collection. It's pretty and I thought a Cinderella collector might want it but I grew to like the artwork so much that I decided to keep it for myself. I have two other Cindy pins I'd intended to use as traders and they haven't left my collection, either. :p

I saw an eBay auction with this pin listed under a misleading title , I knew a trader who would trade me a PODM for it as she collected Haunted Mansion . By the time the auction ended she'd traded the pin I wanted so I decided to keep it , maybe I'll have to start a Haunted Mansion collection to show it off

I often end up keeping it but a few months later I'll realise I don't collect and I'll let it go. Examples are the designer villains (apart from Gothel).

Gold brocade Mulan. I was actually in the midst of negotiating a trade with her when I realized I just couldn't let go of her!

I bought a trade lot of pins on Facebook last year (all legit pins, not the cheapo scrapper trading lots) because there were one or two pins for my own collection in it and figured I could trade or sell the rest. Well, some of the ones I was planning on trading were Paris lanyard pins - Terk and Quasimodo, I believe. I didn't know that Paris lanyard pins were a thing before then, and after looking up the series and falling in love with their size and quality, I decided to keep them instead of trading them. Those two kicked off my Paris lanyard collection.

I just ordered the last two of the Stained glass Princess set. which started as those would be good traders and ended with I'll get a custom Lanyard made and my daughter can wear them. Problem is I have two daughters =)

Sooo I just had this happen with the hinged pins that were just released at GSF.
I got the Tangled and Little Mermaid ones with the intent of eventually trading them.

I don't know if I can now that I have them. They look really really nice in person!

Honestly, I bought the Belle with Sheep framed set as a trader. (I got a really good deal on it, and locally!) When I picked it up I fell instantly in love with it and I can't let it go.

I recently purchased an "Adventure is out there! Hot Air Balloons Mystery Set" at Pin Traders (Downtown Disney) and found a Mickey Balloon pin that wasn't one of the pictured pins. It came with a Pinocchio Balloon pin as well. I can't help but keeping both, and I keep getting compliments on them from cast members and traders.

This may not compare to the stories above, but it was a trader purchase that turned into a collection piece for me.
