At what point do you mark a pin to be "owned"? I have made some trades via PinPics, but I was thinking about waiting until I receive them before changing the status from "Want" to "Own"? Is that usually what people do? What if you want to participate in some of these DPF zapping activities and it asks for your wants list? I hope I'm not overthinking it, but I'm still trying to figure out the best flow actions. Thanks! :roll:
 
I wait until the pin is in my possession, but that's because I'm superstitious, ha. And don't trust the post office not to lose stuff (so I try not to jinx myself).
 
OK thanks for the replies! I just sent out my first pins for trade and I'm excited to get my new pins! Didn't want to jump the gun on marking them as "own" yet! :rofl:
 
I usually wait until I have it in hand, but it sometimes gets me in a bit of trouble on PinPics because I may get an offer on something that's on it's way and is still showing as a wants.
 
I usually wait 'til I have the pin in hand, both for marking it "own" and removing it from "want". You never know what might happen in the mail. It sometimes results in duplicate trade requests from people, but that doesn't happen often.
 
If it's a pin I've purchased, I usually jump the gun and mark it as owned. I haven't had any snafus in the mail yet, though if I accidentally purchased a scrapper then I have to find the pin again and put it back on my wants list. If it's something I've traded for, especially for any trades conducted via PinPics, I always wait until the pin is in hand before I move it to my owned list.
 
Well the one time I marked a pin from a trade as 'owned' before I have it in hand, the package now seems to be lost or at least is taking super long. So talking about superstition.. I won't do that again ;)

With purchases I sometimes do already mark them, especially if it is a new release and I know I will be trading (some of) them. Not to miss out on any trade requests..

That's a pretty good way to do it. I think I've removed the ones I've traded from my "Trade" list but kept them on my collection list until I receive the wanted one too.
 
Lol, I think I'm the only person here who marks it "Own" as soon as the trade is agreed on and addresses are swapped. Then I take pins off my traders, and can change wants to owns. I can be really forgetful, and if I don't mark it then it usually remains on my 'wants' list for an undetermined amount of time until I notice it. :)
 
If I trade a pin away, I mark it that I don't have it any more as soon as I send it away.

If I trade for a pin, I don't mark it as have until I have it in hand.

Yea, that's pretty much what I've started doing. I take it off my traders but don't add the new one until I've received it. I've also started keeping a little notebook with the pin numbers, so it's much easier to find when I do receive it! Speaking of which, I got a couple today.. must "own"!
