I just had a really weird experience on eBay. A seller had a pin (with 2 available) listed for $24.99 each OBO (or best offer) with free shipping. So, I made an offer for both at $20 each.

I received a "counteroffer" of $24.99, but the buy-it-now price miraculously jumped to $29.99. The comment from the seller is that they just dropped the price (in my eyes, they just RAISED it!) and felt that it was a fair price.

Did any of you ever have this happen to you??

Good news is, someone else had it for sale for $22 plus free shipping, so I bought theirs instead and declined the "counteroffer"...

Crappy seller!!!

Super shady! I've had sellers counter-offer the weirdest things, but I have had yet for this to happen! I'm glad you found the same pin for less! :)

I have had weird stuff happen on the bay. One seller had 3 of the same stitch bags listed, all at $100 BIN with best offer options. I offered 60, and it was accepted immediately. Almost immediately after that, the other 2 bags were raised to 150 & 175. They didn't sell but were then raised to 225 and 250. They are still just sitting there.

I think I remember seeing those bags posted. I was debating about whether I might want to make an offer, and POOF the prices skyrocketed! Guess I didn't want them after all...

I watch a LOT of stuff on ebay and sadly there are a lot of sellers who raise their prices if they don't sell. Guess they're hoping for the buyers who don't notice that the item has doubled in price since the last time they looked.

When I submit a good offer on a OBO listing and the seller responds similarily like yours, I love to hit that DECLINE button. Stupid counteroffers from stupid sellers deserve it... you did the right thing by finding another seller.

That's just ridiculous- why did they put a best offer then if they had it to the lowest they wanted to go? >.<

Glad you were able to find a cheaper one! :D

That always happens with the pins I really want but cannot afford at the moment. When they are relisted, the price skyrockets. It makes no sense.

its like the counter offers are just BS sometimes...

I offered a seller $2.00 less per pin, for 3 pins they had for sale, and the counter offer arrived within minutes of my offer at .50c less that the full asking prices. I think sometimes the counter offer is automated.
