Just pondering a potential purchase and though I'm sure something like this has been discussed before... this struck me as a topic for discussion.

Would you rather buy a few of your wants for $200 or one grail for $200?

Depends on the grail! There's at least one pin in my sig that I wouldn't think twice about $200 for.

I voted for 4 pins, but I am with Vixy...it just depends on the pins avaliable for me! There are some pins, where even if that was the only one I could buy, I would! For me, it is now more of a decision of "Do I buy pins or save for the next DOLL release?!?!?" The dolls have be winning out lately! LOL! I never would have imagined that a year ago!

I've kicked myself so many times for buying multiple pins when I could have spent the same money and bought something I really was wanting. Learn from my mistakes ~ Go for the GRAIL!!! You know you really want it! :bigthumb:

If I feel like the four will go up in price soon after I'll probably get that those first. Depends on the grail as well. If it's a grail I see often for $200 I'll probably think "I'll get another shot at that one later", but if $200 is a big steal and I've never seen it for that price, I might get that one.

If the grail was at the right price, (like if, for say, it was my Tink Grail,) I would consider it. Especially since those are going for over $500. But I'm also cheap and rather broke at the moment. So I suppose it would depend on the pins.

It's really difficult for me to separate the 2 options. I had the opportunity to get a grail in a trade auction and I'm regretting not choosing it as the winner. Now it's in the $200 range. When it was in the $100 before. I have the opportunity to buy it now but I had a few other pins I was planning on getting. So now I'm wondering which way to go. Thanks for the thoughts so far

I'm a "Get the most bang for your buck" kind of person. So I would definitely choose the four over the grail, but then there are always exceptions to grails. It just really depends on the pin(s).

Both work for me for different reasons. For instance, I would take a hard-to-find grail over several awesome pins that are easier to come by. Who knows when I'll see that grail again? However there are some grails I want that are not hard to find, just expensive, and in those cases I really do prefer "more", if all pins are readily available.

I could never spend 200 dollars on any one pin for me. My personal max is 50. Now for zaps that is another story all together. It is easier for me to rationalize it if it is for somebody else.

This exactly. There are a few Mary Poppins pins that I just never see that I'd go after before buying multiples of a readily available awesome pins.

You read my mind with this thread. Was wondering the same thing a few days ago and would have loved to get opinions! I'd say grail. For the simple reason that every time you spend the money on something else, the grail remains a grail and possibly becomes harder to find or more expensive. If it's not *really* an issue of "This is too much $$$ to spend on a single pin" and you absolutely WANT the pin, get the grail. Cross it off your major wishlist. If the other pins are more readily available, you can knock them off here or there over the coming weeks/months/years. But next time the grail comes up, what if you're flat broke and see it slip away again? So there's my two cents. I hope you make the choice that is best for YOU, though, and are utterly thrilled with whatever acquisition you make!!!

Which do you think you would get more enjoyment from owning? If it's the 4 pins, go those; if it's the grail, then there's your answer. Sometimes a grail is "IT" ... it takes your breath away and having it makes you extra happy. Sometimes you see other pins and you find yourself thinking about them and really wanting them and you sort of put the grail on the back burner. Whichever YOU think is the best way to go!

Really tough to say without seeing the pins for the decision.

My choice would be either "neither" or "4 nice pins". I would never spend $200 on a single pin, and I would be very unlikely to spend $50 per pin (but can't 100% rule it out).

I must be the only one struggling to rationalize spending either $200 on one pin or $50 each for 4. Maybe if the 4 we're jumbos or something. Not trying to take the fun out of this thread, but I wouldn't do either. Maybe because I've been in it for so long and way back, 'cash value' wasn't really thought about as much as it is today. The hot pins of today will be like the hot pins of yesteryear and I would struggle knowing I paid $200 for a pin now only worth $50.
