June 14, 2014 Nightmare Before Christmas Event at Disneyland Hotel - REPORT!!
Hey gang, I'm here at the event and waiting in line to get in... there's a few people who are trading to complete the mystery set. Look for me inside... I'm wearing a Maleficent t-shirt and Maleficent lanyard. Come say hello!

Mike

I was only in the trading area for a couple of hours, but during that time I was able to trade for 7 of the 15 recent PTD pins that I missed out on picking up for myself at DSSH -- so -- for me, trading today was great.

I am not able to take a picture and post it, but I do know what 6 of the 8 Chasers were:
Lock-Shock-Barrell on Tea Cup Ride
Oogie Boogie trying to take a bite out of Space Mountain
Mummy in the Tiki Room
Scary Teddy outside Haunted Mansion
Harlequin Clown in from of possibly the FireStation or the Saloon
nightmare Duck, possibly on the Mark Twain River boat

Here are the six I got. I'm not sure if it's true but I heard the 7th is Sally. I'm not sure on what ride. And I have no idea on the 8th chaser.

Whoa. That teddy with the Mansion sure looks good- I hope I can trade for it on my trip! (I'll be at DCA and DLR on the 28th and 29th :))

Here is some additional information for those of you who may be interested in more details about the Mystery Boxes...

I arrived at at the Event yesterday just a few minutes before the registration opened at noon. There were definitely more than 50 ahead of me in line, possibly as many as 100. I had purchased 16 boxes on my RSP, and after I had opened them, I was very happy with what I had gotten: 1 pin short of completing a 2nd 8-pin set, 4 of the 8 chasers + 3 or 4 duplicates of those 4 chasers, and the remaining 32 pins were duplicates of some of the LRs.

At least several others who had been ahead of me in line were not nearly so lucky as I had been with their boxes. One person I know who purchased 25 boxes was unlucky enough the get the same two pins in each box. Multiple others got more duplicates than variety in their boxes.

At some point, exactly when I do not know but I expect it was before I picked up my boxes, I heard that a CM who was also attending the Event went back to the RSP pickup area and told/asked/demanded that those there open up all the packages (boots) of the Mystery Boxes and mix them up before giving them to Event attendees.

This has led some of us to speculate that what ever sort of packages the Mystery Boxes came in, which some of us call 'boots' each may have contained the same two pins in each, rather than mostly all different pins as those of us who had purchased 'boots' in the past were used to seeing.

Thanks for the pictures! It was nice meeting some of you today :)!! I finished getting all of the pins out of the framed AP/PP set from the silent auction and now I'm trying to catalog them all. Some very neat pins in there I haven't seen before. They miscalculated the AP and PP amounts. 15 pins were not marked instead of 20, making for more APs and PPs. :)

Thanks for everyone for being so kind and Ricky says thanks for all of the back scratches ;)!

In case anyone was wondering, it looks like the 7th and 8th chasers from the Mystery Set were not in any of the boxes purchased at the actual event.

Iam wondering when/where those pins will become available - I was able they trading to get everything but those. Iam sure it must be jack and sally. Btw, talk at the event was that it wasn't coincidental that those two popular characters might be help back and sold later to facilitate collectors buying all of the remaining stock of packs.

This was the most frustrating and annoying thing about the entire event!! If these chasers actually exist, they're probably both in the same box which means only 350 boxes have them and they will most likely start appearing at DLR sometime this week.

The Disney #!@%!'s who are in charge of mystery pins have perfected the method of extracting money from their loyal and longtime customers!!

I spoke to lead and she said that the manufacturer did not randomize the individual boxes as we all saw and they did not randomize the large boxes shipped to them. So the boxes sent to the event only had 6 chasers. The other two chasers were in the boxes that they preemptively sent to the parks. I can't believe all the boxes were not sent to the event! The product development woman confirmed the final two chasers are Jack on Small World and Sally on a ride but she couldn't remember which one. So I tried to get them to give us access to the boxes in the park but they said we couldn't until today. I told them I was not at the park on Sunday, so they said I could return my pins or exchange them for more blind boxes here at the event. I traded for a few boxes to see if they would be different and they weren't so tbh let me keep my pins. Now I guess we need to get back to the park and take our chances with more boxes to get the final two chasers. Hopefully others will get the chasers and I can trade for them. :/

Oh... HELL no. They knew that the missing chasers were at the park and they just let people buy more boxes at the event hoping to find them????? That's not right.

pictures of the Jack and Sally chasers - now available in the parks (to folks who didn't have to shell out the money for the terribly lame event) - are now on Facebook (maybe eBay, too, who knows?). of course they are two of the three coolest pins/chasers in the whole set. who knew the event, which I thought was so poor compared to most all previous pin events, could actually get worse AFTER it was over!??

They actually refused to admit that the chasers were in the park even though they admitted the manufacturer made a mistake. They said they couldn't know where the chaser pins are because they are sealed and that there is a possibility that nobody found the chasers since it was random, but I told them that it is much less likely that absolutely nobody found 2 chasers than we all just picked the boxes without them. :/

Just when I thought they were getting better at CA events (no line to register as there had been for Tiki) this happens...unless next year's theme is incredible, I'll be saving my $90 and buying the remainders in the park the day after. What a joke.
Oh, and let's not forget that the trading boards were nothing but hidden mickeys, scrappers, booster pieces and rack pins. TOTAL. JOKE.

Very sad indeed. :( I heard there were a few out-of-towners (from Florida!) I wonder what they must think in comparison to their WDW events.

I didn't attend the NBC event, but I stopped by the entrance to the ballroom and spoke with about 5 cm's on Sat around 3:00pm, who said the leftover pins/sets would be put in the pin stores in DLR by next week, as I was just curious to see what they looked like, but most likely not buying any. Can someone post when pins are in the stores, thanks! Hope you all had fun!

they were in stores yesterday already. The trading post at DTD had the most. Westward ho had the second most. everywhere else had 1 or 2 small pins and a few blind boxes.
