Disney Fairytale Designer Collection - Heroes & villains collection 2016
That's weird. I know the merchandise sold well at my store. In fact, things were sold out well before the holidays. It was only a few of the x-small shirts that were left behind, and no one really seemed to be surprised by that (probably because because x-small merchandise doesn't see well where I am).

It happens. Its sold out in your store and not in other stores all over the country. Like the belle doll. They say its sold out in the US but there are still some here in canada. Not every store is the same. In my understanding, the store near me have some belle, beast and gaston left because people here are not into LE dolls much. Some also find their prices expensive that theyd rather buy from cheaper store. It depends on the people in your community.

Its also worth pointing out that while the merchandise was praised by collectors and did sell out, a lot of it still went on sale. Disney seems to believe that any LE merch that goes on sale is a failure in terms of their estimated profit. The products just didn't do as well as previous years. 2014 was also a rough year for the designer collection (at least to an extent), with even three out of the five dolls going on sale (Mulan/Shang, Tiana/Naveen, Pocahontas/John Smith). Two years of problems in a row was probably a big negative for Disney.

Mulan is one of my favorite filmsthats why I feel bad that they are not making any 17inch version of her after that failed designer series. Maybe because disney makes too much LE dolls in a year with high numbers that people start to lost interest in collecting. i hope not because im just starting my collection. I hope moana will start to bring the hype back to disney same as what happened to frozen years ago

None that I really know of. The year the Designer villains collection came out was a little rough, mainly because Disney produced so many of each doll that they took a while to sell out. Only one doll went on clearance (Mother Gothel) and all the merch sold well, so it was considered a success overall.

Ok. I was wondering because I read somewhere that it's possibly the last year Disney will produce Designer dolls. I guess dolls going on clearance would explain it.

I think the designer series is losing steam because people are starting to get bored of the same characters being redesigned over and over again. That and the fact that Disney just doesn't seem to want to learn from their mistakes.

A tiered edition size is the best that they can do, similar to the first designer set. The most popular character/anticipated set should have the highest LE (6,000) and the non-popular/experimental characters should have a lower LE (4,000 or 3,000).

Characters like Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel.... Basically all the white princesses (sadly) should have 6,000. While the princesses that are not so popular should have an LE of 3,000. Sets like Pan/Hook and Alice/QoH should have an LE of 2,000 or lower. They just don't sell as well as the other dolls.

Additionally, the can only redesign the dresses to a certain point. They need to start branching out of the main princesses, especially since they're losing outfits to redo. I think they should do a Disney Herions line next year. Esmeralda, Meg, Jane, Kida, and Merida. That's 5 sets. and they could even make them LE 1,500 or less.

That's too bad! I really love the Alice Queen of Hearts set. It's actually my favorite set in this wave.

They should go back to single designer dolls, not couples or duos. And go back down to the $59.99/$69.99 price for a single doll :)

They should include pocahontas and mulan in the 17 inches line ( though I like mulan more), giselle in 17 inches as well as designers...meg and esmeralda are nice characters too. Aside from classic characters they should branch out to other new characters as well even the supporting. i dont mind a 17 inches vanessa as well...ariel too in human form. They should not make dolls more than 5000. If they are not sure its gonna sell then limit to 3000 or 2500. Its not just the characters that attracts consumers but the number as well. When there is too much going around like say 10000 or so the value goes down. Thats too much. I like the blue fairy too in pinocchio...

theres a rumor theres another set of designers next year though

Forgot to say..they should also produce limited edition sets once a year not twice or thrice...people get tired of too much LE in one year. They had to choose which one to get. Like me, if i didnt get belle and gaston, i would have considered purchasing at least one of the heroes vs villain. i also have moana to think about. If it was once a year thing I would buy and then another the following year. People who already spend on some dolls would be reluctant to buy another. I wanted to buy cinderella and tremain but my husband is gonna kill me if Im gonna buy them while my previous orders are not even in my hands yet. They knew Batb is gonna be produced this year how come they included the 2 of them in this years heroes vs villains right? Why not last year. Its a matter of strategy.

Never got to buy at that price. Just found out about doll collecting last year. I wish I could have paid that!

What if next year we get the four ethnic princesses who weren't in the heroes vs villains line? That's like the best way to drag out the Princess Characters vs. Villains thing if they're looking to do that.

Tiana and Facilier
Pocahontas and Ratcliffe (I've mentioned time and time again on how they can make that work)
Jasmine and Jafar (she technically doesn't wear a dress and the one dress she actually uses is hardly ever marketed.)
Mulan and Shan-Yu

Bonus- Moana and whomever is the villain.

Im worst. i just discovered you can collect dolls this year lol. After I bought belle I checked the internet and discovered there were adults collecting it. I really thought its for kids. Ive bought the frozen classic dolls before but I said im gonna give it to my daughter as an excuse. I didnt know about the LE dolls rising value at all. I saw the designer sets years ago but i thought it was too pricey for a toy. Ill just collect the characters that I like and ill be alright. Or else I will run out of place to put my dolls. i had to donate my 2001 celebration barbie to make a space for belle and gaston

this could be a good idea. I heard though that there might be a new set of designers next year. I dont know if its a continuation of this particular line

It's as if they tossed to the side the established ethnic characters for abstract ones and that went about the same (were Peter and Hook a success?)

And no Alice has not come out yet but who knows how that will turn out

If there is a set next year, then I think its safe to say that it won't be Heroes and Villains themed. It just seems like Disney wants to get this theme over with so they can move on to something else. I personally want another wave of Designer Villains or a Disney Heroines set. A lot of people want a wedding theme, and while that would be a beautiful collection, I personally would rather them do something more original instead of doing couples AGAIN.

You are right they already did the couple thing many times now..time for them to think a new one...if i were disney I would make 17 inches or designers of mulan, pocahontas, esmeralda, giselle..those characters they didnt make yet..moana is a good start

I feel like a heroine collection would be the best move. It would be a breath of fresh air in the designer collection. I mean Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle and Rapunzel all have 3 designer dolls each at this point. They can include Merida(the only princess without a designer doll), Elsa and Anna(since they don't have solo designer dolls). And include Esmeralda, Megara, Kida and Jane. They could even add Moana.

SW technically has 4 (that being the D23 set.)
