They announced a proposed calendar for my school; start on 8/25. I would be in the classroom one day and then on vacation for two. But now they might change to start earlier, so I would be in school about a week and then go on a vacation. Hope to book rooms tomorrow.

I'll definitely be going! And I'm hoping to talk my boyfriend into going as well. If anyone needs a sponsor, I'm sure he's be happy to oblige. xD

It's too early to know for certain, but I *might* be looking to sponsor someone for the event this year. It'll depend mostly upon the RSP catalog itself, whether it'll be more advantageous (based upon what I want) for me to attempt the RSP or just buy what I want on the secondary market. If I decide that it's in my best interest to attempt the RSP, it'll depend upon whether I can make it out to WDW for the event itself (and right now, that's looking more no than yes, unfortunately).

Will it work for you if I let you know definitively within a few days of the catalog being published?

More than likely that shouldn't be a problem. :) of course it's pretty far out, so who knows what could happen between now and then. Hahah! Once that catalog releases, I'll definitely know better (as will you). :3

I'm super lost. What is this event? What's a sponsorship for? I'm pretty lost. lol

This is Disney's biggest pin event. It's a ticketed event, meaning you have to pay for it to get in (and have to have a park ticket). In addition, there's a catalog of event exclusive pins (usually some pretty awesome ones) to purchase. At the event there are tons of people trading, panels, interviews, and lots of other Disney stuff.

As for sponsors, sometimes people will act as a proxy for someone else, meaning Person B who can't go to the event will pay the ticket for Person A to go and buy whatever Person B needs. Since my bf will be able to go, but isn't a pin collector, he could be sponsored by someone and get stuff for them as I'd they were there.

Does that make sense?

From an earlier post I made. I THINK that MNSSHP will be later this year so that you can't tie it in with the Pin Event.

[h=2]2017 EPCOT Food & Wine dates vs. Pin Event[/h]
Just announced on the Disney Blog dates for the 2017 EPCOT Food & Wine Event. August 31 - November 13, 2017 (75 days).

If they need a week to cut-over from the Pin Event like last year, the Pin Event might be even earlier in August. Might also affect the MNSSHP dates for Pin folks, we will see.

Oh wow. Yep this all makes sense. Are the tickets pretty expensive? Sounds like a very fun event. :D

I remember seeing a preview picture of the event some months ago in another thread, and it had Tarzan and Kala on it (which is why it caught my attention :D ). How much do tickets usually cost? I'd definitely be interested in sponsoring someone.

Tickets generally increase slightly each year, but if memory serves correctly, I would expect the two day event to be approximately $150 per person, give or take (unless there is an enormous mark up, which always is a possibility). Then there is the possibility of breakfast and dessert event add ons, which should be about $25-35 each, give or take.

Please remember that this is just a guesstimate based upon memory; I wouldn't consider it accurate until Disney actually releases the event tickets and tells you how much it'll cost.

That sounds about right to me! But keep in mind that this is in addition to regular park admission. So like to sponsor me, someone without an annual pass, it'd be much closer to $250. (Some people may also ask you to pay for hotel, transportation, etc.) So be selective when you choose a sponsoree, and make sure you nail down a price up front! You can also sometimes just sponsor people's RSP, aka you pay for the privilege to have the first pick at the pins your sponsoree can pay for separately.

Here are a few examples of people advertising their ability to be sponsored on the forum:

I love that the theme is Love is an Adventure and the Lion King sketches are Mufasa/Sarabi/Simba and Timon/Pumbaa instead of just Simba/Nala. Looks like they'll feature all kinds of love instead of just romantic love.

I just checked, and round trip tickets from LAX to Orlando right now are under $350. Here's hoping my tax return is processed quickly!

Has anyone here ever done hotel room sharing for these events?

While this is very good advice, I don't know if I have ever heard of a Sponsoree asking for the Sponsor to cover the price of Park Admission or hotel. Usually, they just "take the place" of the Sponsor at the actual Event.

Looks like I will need a full Sponsor or someone to buy my RSP, like last year. :tigger:

I'm going!
Have snagged a studio at BC. Just need to get air tickets figure out (luckily I have lots of SW points).
Not sure yet if DS is going to go with me; we don't have the school calendar yet. If he does, we'll def be able to put in extra RSP requests for forum peeps.

We need to have a DPF meetup during the event....

I haven't seen it on DPF, or for pin events, but I know that for some comic book/sci-fi conventions people have been known to advertise "Hey I'll stand in line to get this person's autograph for you, pick up whatever merchandise you're looking for, but you have to pay for everything." I've actually met people who have been sponsored for such a deal, and found it kind of unbelievable. So just be wary that there's a possibility people may expect a sponsorship to put for everything.

But thankfully most people here don't do such a thing, and just "Take the place". So this advice is more for people who are shopping for sponsors outside of DPF. Sorry for the mixup! (And I hope you find a sponsor TiggerSue!)

A DPF meetup will be required!

If I go, I would fly in either Wednesday night or early Thursday (if I can find a flight that gets in early enough on Thursday to still make check-in) and back out Sunday. So I'd be down for meeting up/going to the parks/etc. with anyone who's free outside of trading event hours.
