DSF/DSSH DSSH February 23, 2020 Event at Disneyland Hotel

The beauty and the beast event at the Nixon library didn't sell out of the trading pkgs (the lower PKG).

I don't think dssh will cancel. I am sure the majority of pkgs will sell for the event. But it sure would be nice if only 300 are in the ballroom... And not 400. :)

I'm thinking last Hot release for DSF was at D23, due to the themes, but there were also many releases at same time/location.:p
But if you mean at DSF, I'm guessing July for Villain Cards?

Yeah I was hoping they’d finish the full 52 card deck of villains would have been pretty cool I think...

What was the last HOT release? I want to say this cool off is recent?

As to the cool off, yes it seems recent. At first I thought it was recoup time after major buying, but it now seems to be leading to a cooling off period that most locations go through at some point?

Also, (just my personal opinion) there usually was a timing of newbies that replaced those that drop out for different reasons ranging from: out of money/priced out of hobby, bored/moved on to the next bright spot, not able to resell at enough profit, at this moment I'm thinking people are busy with trying to get tickets/APs for DLR due to RoR, and new Marvel campus.

So maybe it's not Pins and more about the Parks for Newbies that use to keep the hobby Crazy?:p

Hmm...all good suggestions as to why. Such is the Pin Trading Hobby.

Yeah, definitely scratching their heads on this!
Especially this also means All those pin sets not selling out......
So it looks like DSF has surely lost it's HOTNESSS?
Also wondering what happens to future events, and the pin designs they've got designed for the rest of the year? Guessing more online releases?
And if this had been Dark Tales 3, Villain/Princess themed would it have had the crazy sellout as before?
If this was DT3 I would have bought the more expensive package, coop be damned! :D
If I remember correctly, you were able to get two pins with prior events. With this one being only one of each, it’s tougher to cover cost and $155 is a lot of money for lunch and a couple hours trading (and some other minor items).

I’m guessing that ticket holders will be allowed to purchase extras of remaining pin packages between now and the event. They’ve done so the last few events. So it could be 2+sets per person.

I wound up going in with another friend on the pins since we both collect different things with no overlap. Not sure what I’ll be getting beyond Judy, Joy, Lion King, and Robin Hood yet (we haven’t hashed our the split entirely yet) but I’ll have four for trade/sell.

So I see this they closed at 5 with the premium and Guest packages still available.

I wonder how many of the above they actually sold?

People aren't willing to pay the exorbitant prices like they use too.

And I say, "Here...Here" - it's about time!

The fact that DLR is hosting their first of the year PTN that Thursday isn't helping DSSH's event, I'm sure.

Not good planning at all. I wonder if these people even talk to one another before picking dates.

Anyway...I am looking forward to 2 days of pin trading and on my birthday weekend too.

From someone who has to travel to SoCal from out of state for PT events it actually is nice two are happening within a few days. But more notice for both would probably have helped for the out of staters. Also, the DLR event sells out so fast... I think it puts out of staters at a disadvantage. So DLR just gets more of the same traders who know how things work and jump on registrations quickly.

Just mentioning, if anyone from out of state needs a body to go in their stead to pick up the merchandise, I'm a trustworthy local who can handle picking up merchandise, and getting it shipped both timely and well packaged.
I have done this for @summerskin for the Pinsgiving event, so you have a reference of knowing I'm good for the job ;3

I'm really interested in seeing how DSSH responds to the change in their popularity. For the Baby block pin release they did a promotion for those with wristbands to buy discounted tickets to an El Capitan showing, but even that wasn't enough to get alot of people to come out. Only 271 showed up.

It's kind of funny to think about this, but that is still 271 instant sales... I remember when pin releases at DSF weren't a 'thing'. They just put them on pegs in the store, and they might eventually sell out over the course of a week or two. And if they lasted a few weeks, they got marked down to $4 and thrown in a discount bin. And that was EVERY release, not just 'boring' ones...

When did they mayhem actually start? Was it Tangled? (Even those were just on the pegs in the store, I remember just walking in at some point after the release and buying the marquee...) At some point people started paying ridiculous amounts for a pin or two and it kind of exploded from there...

I lived in the Bay Area and so I never went to a pin release. However I remember visiting family in maybe 2014 and they had an Arthur PTD (when they did one at a time). That pin lasted for days so I went every day to get one to give as gifts. They also had all of the pins from the previous release. It must have been so nice before the mayhem. Btw I traded my Arthur PTD and later the Merlin PTD and it’s one of my biggest pin regrets

I'm actually excited that they didn't sell out. I'm hoping they only sold 200 (or less) of the 300 higher priced tickets.

I am still available for sponsorship if anyone is interested. And I have pins too if you only want those....

Good point. Less people, Hopefully means More opportunities for Good Picks from the Pin Boards.
