I have brought this up in the past but it is bothering me again. I know that a lot of the releases are CM focused, but it really would be nice to have something geared to the East Coast collectors that give us a shot at some great LE stuff. Yes - we have the EPCOT pin Event but the pins there are nowhere near the LE size of the WDI-like stuff.

WDW 50th pins will probably be "shared" with DLR and not limited to WDW.
I'm not sure they will, but I am sure that their edition sizes will be in the thousands which won't make them special enough to be worthy of any of the West Coast pins. I'm also sure that WDI will have their own special WDW 50th pins that people from WDW won't be able to get.

Tbf both WDI and DEC pins are available to ANY CM regardless of region lived in (some are not available outside the US). And DSSH has almost been exclusively online for the past two years. BUT the number of new opportunities in the past couple years with upcoming pin companies that put out AMAZING pins with small LE size (Loungefly, Artland, Figpin) has been rapidly expanding. You can't think of it as west coast vs east coast, because unless you're a CM, you have no access to WDI/DEC. The only "unevenness" is via DSSH, and their most popular pins have been sold online since the pandemic started.

Yes, I'd argue that it's never been better for collectors and traders all across the country than the past year and a half with the rise of companies like Loungefly and Artland/Pulse Pins, and with the majority of DSF pin releases coming out online and being available to all (at least in the US). In person there has essentially just been PTDs and pins sold at El Cap (which so far has been one Luca pin and the Jungle Cruise release).

I think my only rant to add to this is that CMs are clearly reselling their exclusive pins and doing so at “shark” prices. I’m glad cast members get perks but seeing them immediately on eBay for hundreds of dollars on the spot is frustrating for collectors. I thought Disney had a policy against reselling…

Disney does, and there have been cast who have been caught and fired. It's a risk they take every time they post it, or they give it to an easily traceable friend or family member to sell on their behalf. That is the main reason that I NEVER sell any pins that I get from cast friends; I don't want any chance of it ever coming back to them and them getting in trouble because of me.

It's just as frustrating for CMs who care about their jobs, believe me. But it's how the game has worked for years now. It's impossible to discern who traded their pins to a reseller accidentally (me) and who's selling to a reseller. I know of at least one CM who wasn't into pins who at the time just let their friend have WDI pins. Not knowing the actual policy for WDI or anything. Those accounts selling are not CM accounts and most likely the CM the person is tricking doesn't know how much money is being made off of their favor.

I am not a CM and I have unintentionally traded with a reseller. I don't really want to do that.
