Hey Everyone!!!!
I am brand new to the whole collecting of Vinylmation.
I literally started last night. I went to the Disney Store and they had the Urban #7 series and I fell in love with 3 of them. I wasn't sure I was going to buy, but then they had a buy any Vinylmation and get A Nightmare Before Christmas vinylmation for free! So I definitely couldn't pass that up well needless to say I ended up buying 3 and getting 3 free lol. I'm in trouble now!!!!
So just want to say hi to everyone and see if anyone had any advice for a new collector of vinylmations.

talk to Scotty... he is the vinyl junky around here... lol i also got sucked in by th ebuy one get one free. I was at the store and got 2 nbc but now have 4 that i am getting from scotty. so never wanted any..andnow im like u... about to have 6... how funny..and its all scottys falt.. i blame him for telling me about nbc and the sale..jk. but really he is a good guy and can help if u need it.
 
My advice: buy blindboxes and just trade online- just like pins. And if you go to the parks, buy series on sale so you have some to trade (and you can also trade in your local Disney Store). Hope that helps!

Not to be stupid, BUT what are blindboxes???
I live in Chicago, so no parks for me :( won't be able to get to one for a looooooong time.
I definitely have some I'm looking for now, so I have like 4 or 5 that I got that I'm willing to trade now...

Blindboxes are the vinylmation you get where you can't see what you're getting. You got blindboxes when you purchased Urban 7 vinyls.
 
I found that same BOGO deal at my disney store, I chose Zero. I got an Alice in wonderland.... which was the march hare *ugh* *facepalm* and they had just refreshed the traders and so I traded for a brand new Rafiki!!
 
Welcome to Vinylmation collecting, aandersonis! :D My advice would be to focus on collecting the ones you like. And while I love buying them as blind boxes (where you don't know which ones you are getting), I usually set limits on myself so I'm not stuck with too many duplicates or others that I don't really like.

You can also find a lot of good deals on eBay, but my only word of caution when it comes to that is to be wary buying from hong kong if you'd rather not have scrapper vinyls in your collection (yes, vinylmations have scrappers too :eek:)

Main advice though is to have a lot of fun! It's a lot like pin trading and there is no wrong way to collect :) Hope this helps!

It definitely is super exciting! I went to trade out some I didn't like yesterday and it is seriously addicting! You just never know what they might have. Oh and I bought another one because my sister fell in love with zero(dog?) so I grabbed another urban #7 (who am i kidding she wasnso just a scapegoat to buy another lol) and ugh got the distrubed dude. Yeah I traded him straight away for the doughnut one. Just like with pins, I like the "pretty" ones or at least the ones I think are pretty.

Donut was a great trade for disturbed! ;) Yeah, I didn't quite care for him when I blind boxed him either. Definitely agree on liking pretty/cute more than, well, not cute :lol:

It is very addictiing. I used my friends and family discount yesterday on some blind boxes, and oh dear... :rofl: It was a great deal though! I love the Alice in Wonderland set, but the price is a bit hard to blind box at ($12.95). Even though I didn't get the ones I was after, I did get Cheshire, Mad Hatter, and March Hare - so it was a good day! :D
 
the best advice would to be get the ones you like ! , and try and avoid buying from unknown buyers in hong-kong , japan etc .
becuase some (not all) tent to be fake.
btw , you will get reallllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyy addicted haha!

vinylmation collecting and trading is very addictive and has taken over in my pin collecting at this point. LOL

I am always up to trading vinyls or pins just like the rest here! Have fun with your new hobby.
 
Yep i recently got addicted on my last trip im always open to trades pm me but good luck with your collection lol
