When I went to the pin event at Epcot last year, I pulled a pin of the board that I thought just didn''t look right. The pin is http://www.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi?pin=76531&sid=8275.1331150963.v2 . When I got the pin, I thought the color was off. I looked on the back and noticed the PP mark. Initially I thought the color of the moon was the problem. At the most recent pin trading night at the Contemporary Resort, someone else had the same pin. I put the two pins side by side and noticed that there was a definate difference. In my pin the ghosts are definately more of a yellow color instead of a blue. It appears that my ghosts have that tell-tell glow-in-the-dark color, where as the pin that was for sell no longer has that feature.

Is it common that a PP pin might be different from the pin that was released?

PP Pins (Pre-production Pins) will differ from the pins that are issued from the parks/stores because they were made before the main production of the pins sold in the parks/stores - i.e. they are like test pins but limited, and so colours and appearance may differ.

Its very common for PP pins to differ from the final production run. If I remember correctly this pin was also feature in a Disney auction lot with a similar glow in the dark feature. I have a guide posted on here, if you have any other questions about PP pins the answer is probably in the guide ;)

UPDATE: I was right! A pin similar to the one you are describing was in an auction lot for DLR's Sci Fi Academy Event (Auction Lot #2) Click Here!
