Okay..does anyone else remember the "It's Just a Pile of Leaves" Story?

Since the two people are gone..think it is safe to tell. Back in 2000, a woman named Candi used to make bad pins. She wasn't trying to be a counterfeiter -but she was frustrated by the bad designs made by Disney. Her early stuff was GORGEOUS...the Jessica Square (Pinpics 26350) the various Stitch pins..Jessica Halloween (Pinpics 24992).

Well, this was at a time when Dizpins endorsed the trading, buying and selling of these bad pins. Actually, the Dizpins board got a cut from Candi for the sales. Then, the pins went crazy on Ebay -I mean Stitch in a Cruiser hit like $150! Others sold for crazy prices. Well, the Dizpins Boards asked Candi for a bigger Cut. Well, Candi refused - because she was the one taking the risk and doing all the work for the pins.

So, Dizpins then decides that the pins by Candi (and others) are bad and bans them from sale and trade on the boards. But then, Joette (Then owner of Dizpins) designs a pin that is Topiary Stitch (see Pinpics 22475). So, Candi writes on the boards that Joette's pins are just in violation of copyright as the ones she made because they were a knock-off of that known Cast Lanyard Topiary Series. But Joette replies..no, mine is "Just a Pile of Leaves."

Well, Candi finds Joette to be hypocritical, so she designs the following pin: Pinpics 27018. The backstamp reads: "It's Just a Pile of Leaves."

When the Dizpins wars heated up, the alliances would each wear the Stitch pin for the side they were on.

Two things I take away from that story:

1) For the first time ever I actually want a fantasy pin now! I so what that "It's Just a Pile of Leaves" pin!

2) There was pin drama before, there is pin drama now, and there will be pin drama again! It's not just DPF!

1) The only 2 fantasy/bootleg pins I have in my collection is the Pile of Leaves pin and the Dizpins Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil Strictly Enforced pin.

2) Sadly, it just just part of pin trading.

Drama and craziness is not just a part of pin trading. I also grow orchids, and pin traders have nothing on orchid growers. When orchid growers go off the deep end, they end up in prison! No kidding.

And I have heard that dog show people are even worse than orchid growers. No offense to anyone here who shows dogs. :)

Oh my goodness...my Mom does BOTH.

I know it sucks when one hobby eats the other.... :p

Her pins look really well done! I would love to see all the other pins she had made just out of curiosity. :)

What is the PinPics # for the Dizpins pin?

That pin was never added to pinpics. Remember that Dizpins and Pinpics had a close relationship at the time.

Doom, I'll have to track down where I put that pin but I will try to get a picture.

As for the Roger Rabbit, I don't believe it was one of her pins. She liked to do larger pins.
