Just a friendly reminder that sales taxes have gone up in California.

LA (DSF, WDI, studio store) 9%
OC (DLR) 8%
SF (Walt Disney Family Museum, Union Square Disney Store) 8.75%

It's actually shockingly responsible given how Californians tend to vote.

You mean that time when Californian's thought it would be a good idea to vote for chickens to have more living space on their death row farms? That certainly didn't affect the price of chicken :P

We weren't given much of a choice given the level of cuts (especially to education) that were threatened if the tax increases weren't passed :sigh:

On the other hand, property taxes are much lower than other parts of the country...my sister in Texas pays 4 times what I do for a house that is similar to mine...

The cuts to education were a bluff that we fell for. There I plenty of pork in state administration that could get cut, but we always fall for the education threat. If they cut education, vote them out of office and let the new crew cut the pork out.

Yeah.... Don't get me started on education cuts.... I could barely get any classes because many of them got cut :/

...but anywho!! Pins and merchandise :( maybe this will help stop my spending problem. But still... Meh.

That's probably thanks to Prop. 13, which specifically locked property taxes. That one has been up for repeal vote a few times. I'm sure that the second they throw some buzz words onto that ballot, like "children", "cuts", or "temporary", Prop. 13 will be gone and everyone can pay taxes similar to Texas. ;)

Yep. I agree. A lot of classes I need have been cut and I have to graduate in June 2014 rather than June 2013 :(

that is crazy high...and dont think cause taxes go up anything gets better becuase the more you give government the more they will spend and waste and that folks is an absolute proven fact. Add on the new Presidents "free" health care tax and soon you'll pay 20% more on everything ---ok i must stop i am so disgusted and feel like our founding fathers died for nothing. Anyway why is it differnet all over the state? I never heard of that?

I'm in the exact same boat as you :( it really just pushed me back a semester (unless something else goes wrong) but since you can't transfer in the spring, I now have to wait a whole stinking year over two classes. Makes me so mad. I hope you can get things to work out for you!

Sales tax is 7.5% here in Ventura County, so any Reagan Library pins will be at that tax rate and I can pick these up for anybody that needs them since I work there. :)

The community colleges in our county have now closed the cafeterias to try to save money-WTH?

Voters don't bother to read the propositions. They just do whatever the TV says. It's really sad. :(
