Is Rapunzel getting over rated??
I'm expecting a Beloved Tales Tangled Release and I wonder when they will make Punzel with short brown hair, wedding attire .
I really do think Punzel is so cute.

Also...Tangled pins hurt my heart. The fact that there are so few pins with so few designs used hurts my heart as well as my brain...I even did the math on it all....

There are relatively 35 pins with Rapunzel on them. (This includes the pins announced for Paris next year)

9 of those pins are `Punzel with her head in her hand
3 are her looking over her shoulder at Pascal
4 are the same as the heart shaped jewel pose
5 are Punzel twirling her hair around her finger
3 have her sliding down her hair
5 are her brushing her hair
And finally there are 6 other unique poses.

12 Unique poses for 35 pins. And some of the poses are EXACTLY the same but one will be OE and the others will be le 250-300....REALLY!!

I think the pins were set up to cause this...I dunno...I just do ._.

Thank you for doing the math on this!! I've been beginning to wonder WHY in the world do many of the Tangled pins look the same! Especially for how few there are and expensive they are/become, WHY are most of them with the same theme/pose!! Come on Disney let's have some variety here!!

With that being said, I'm kinda on the fence about Tangled/Rapunzel pins being "overrated." It does seem like Pin Nazis/sharks are much much worse than back in the day (pre 2006), but then again this whole Tangled thing seems like a phase. Does anyone remember when people collected Tinkerbell like crazzzzzzzzzy?? (or hey another example: Does anybody remember when Beanie Babies were actually expensive?? Now they're 50 cents at Goodwill ) I do, and now it seems like she died off. I haven't come across a die hard Tinkerbell collector since I began trading again (2012).

It is a good point that there are so few Tangled/Rapunzel pins, which I believe is increasing the demand, similar to Brave, WIR, and Up. I think Disney is also doing this on purpose to make more money. Then again, I don't think many people knew how awesome the movie was and just recently discovered it. I know for myself I do not see Tangled until last year (2012). I figured "psssssh it's a newer disney movie it's prolly going to suck like most of the newer ones have." BOY was I wrong!!! I fell in love w/ the movie when my friend made me watch it and even went so far as to get a Tangled tattoo on my leg in August. If I had known about the movie when it actually came out and fell in love with it sooner my Tangled collection would have been exquisite!! Who knows there can be so many theories to this. I'm with lostsunprincess on the fact that I'd like to not have to spend $100+ for Tangled/Rapunzel pin for once ::sigh::

Im with you poppet. I followed the film from the start when it was hear say and visual development.me and my dad que
d for the whole day to a ticket to see the sneak preview in London (with a q and a with both directors and glen keane) i wish I bought the pubs when they were cheap. But I was going through a tough time and stopped pin collecting but hey can't change the past. By thr time I started again this frenzy begain. I love rapunzel, I love tangles. I connect to the film in a personal way. And yes I own a lot of merchandise ( I'll take a photo when my house isn't upside-down with renovations) I think she is a beautiful character, with wonderful sidekicks and a great story
But I simply cannot afford the pins right now. Iand being hot property not even offers of my rarest pins are happening won't give up but so agree it would be amazing if I don't have to fork out so much! I have a wedding and a house to save for!

Karl says to wait for frozen. Princess Anna seems to have drummed up interest already....

Please, please, please, please, please more OE pins. I can't handle the stress of low edition sizes anymore!! I want everyone to be happy and not fight over Tangled pins!! And selfishly, I want a chance at getting some of these pins at MSRP! I'll pay more because she's the only character I collect and heaven knows how important this movie is in my life, but man, it would be really nice to start paying less than $125 for a Tangled pin...

Ok so totally off the subject! lol! what is Boo 3:16 can you enlighten me I've been curious since I saw it.
Well my name is part one of the greatest sports entertainers(Stone Cold Steve Austin) and the other part is in fact Boo from monsters Inc. . It is in no way a religious or anti religious thing just a wrestling thing Im having a rough time explaing so this video may help but it does have the "A" word in it ONCE but it gives a perfect explaination of what is up

I am with those that weren't particularly impressed with the Tangled movie. Don't get me wrong...I didn't dislike it at all. It was cute and entertaining but as far as recent "princess" movies, I enjoyed both Brave and Princess and the Frog a lot more. For whatever reason though, Tangled really clicked with a lot of other people and once the DVD came out, even more people saw it and loved it. I think this is when the pins really took off.

As far as people who are not Tangled collectors buying the pins, I totally understand this. People know these will make great traders so they are a great buy for anyone, but especially someone fairly new to pin collecting that doesn't have much in trading power. I believe these folks are looking for something they may be able to trade for some older and hard to get LE pins. Even if they sell them and use the money to buy the hard to find older pins, it is certainly understandable. I can remember trying so hard to get something that I could trade for the LE 250 Tinker Bell Rock n Roll (madonna) pin. I finally wound up buying it and got a great price for it because I simply couldn't trade for it.

Staying power with Tangled is still up in the air to me. I do wish I had a pin predicting crystal ball but since I don't, I think interest in particular characters and themes waxes and wanes. For awhile it seemed like it was all Tinker Bell, Stitch, and Haunted Mansion. Then PODMs, POMHs, Up and other stuff came out and people lost interest in some of the other "popular" themes. I am comfortable saying that I feel that the Gomes and older DA LE 100's will probably hold their value the best but Rapunzel may surprise me.

Also, I have no idea why they just keep re-using the same tired poses for Rapunzel. I mean, sheesh, they have a whole movie to work from. I am sure that some of our own DPF members could come up with some awesome design ideas for new pins.

For me Rapunzel is not really over rated, all my holy grails are from Tangled movie. I became a Disney collector thanks to her, I have all the limited dolls, some merchandising and of course pins. I even traded my most valuable pins for her, two LE 100 Nightmare before christmas Gomes pins for some of them: both PTD from Tangled, Pascal and Rapunzel.

Even if I am new to pin trading, I know that it's not a fair trade, but I don't care, my goal is only to have more LE pins with Rapunzel. Tangled is my first reason to do pin trading (even if I also love Stitch) and it's pretty unsure that pins from this collection will decrease, it's absolutely not the case for the moment. However, paying 700 $ for a pin with her is insane and I will never do something like that.

One thing is sure : Tangled collectors really suffer to have pins from this movie !

Yes I do think that she is over rated. I thought that when the movie came out. Only way I ever saw the movie was when the movie was on the tv at a family Christmas party and it was on for the kids. I was sitting watching it and the only part I love is the boat scene. Other then that I was not impressed with the movie.

Now on to the pins. I just don't see the point in collecting her pins. Yes it good for those that want to make a small fortune on her pins especially podm, marquee and anything rare like that. I understand that. I know I'm gonna piss off a lot of people with this. She is over rated and rather annoying. You would think that with all those books she wouldn't be so ignorant.

When I first saw Tangled in theaters I liked it...but didn't LOVE it. I left thinking "this was good, but not Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid, or Beauty and the Beast good". But now having watched it 6 or 7 times I continue to appreciate it more and more. At first I was a little put off by the computer animation...I loved that they decided to stay with hand-drawn for Princess and the Frog and was hoping they would do the same with Tangled...but it really did turn out beautiful. The way they captured her hair, and the lantern scene is gorgeous. Rapunzel has also become one of my favorite princesses...she is tough, yet has a kind and generous heart...and Maximus and Pascal are some of the best princess sidekicks ever...they are hilarious. :)

Pin-wise...Rapunzel is the hot thing right now...but like everything else it will have it's time and be replaced by the new hot thing. That doesn't mean she will become unpopular by any means...Stitch is still a popular character even though he is not THE hot character right now. When I first started collecting Stitch and Tinker Bell were the hot things, and I was able to acquire many great princess pins for MUCH cheaper than their going prices currently. Now that princesses are the popular thing they are naturally harder to get and more expensive. I think slowly Rapunzel will become Stitch-like...where she will be a popular character, but many people that aren't truly into her (or are just collecting her for trading purposes) will back off a bit and move on to the next thing, whatever it may be. :)

Also, the longer Tangled has been out, the more saturated the pin market has become with Tangled pins. I initially wanted to be a Rapunzel completist but no longer feel that way...due to the fact that many of her pins look the same. And although I would like to someday complete the Reveal Conceal collection there is no way I would pay over $300 for that pin...I have my limits...so if I never get it life will still go on. :) And the new WDW pin trading night pin does not really interest me at all...I am not a big fan of pins with words on them in general, and Rapunzel is in one of her standard poses. I personally don't understand how one could be super excited about that pin when there are tons of beautiful DA and DS princess pins out there...but that is just me. :)
