Hello,
So I recently found out about the new DSF February release pins. And they are amazing!! I live in New York so there is no way I am able to get them. I assume that the 4 pin valentines sets will go for crazy prices on eBay the next day so that is not really an option.
I began to think about Cragslist. I would pay someone a certain price to wait in line for me and pick them up. Has anybody done this before. My concerns are the following:
1. How much would I have to pay to make it fair
2. Can I trust the people
3. Is this enough time to find somebody
Thanks,
Erik

Why not try to find someone here to stand in line for you? Otherwise, I would check out the pre-sales available on ebay (if there are any).

That was my first thought but then I looked around and saw that Tinker already made that thread and was getting no responses. So far I can not find anything on eBay but I will keep my eyes open. Thanks for the advice!

I don't know about Craigslist, seems kind of shady to me, but it might be your best bet, anyone on this forum who can attend the release will no doubt be getting the pins for themselves or has already sold the pins they are getting :(

What I would do is make a thread in the "Pin Sales/Wanted forum" and keep it bumped daily. Also, keep your eye on Ebay daily for any possible good deals as you get closer to the release dates, check daily. Yes, many of these pins will probably be high dollar on Ebay when they first come out but many times, if you are patient, the price will come down a little once the majority of people have traded for the pin/obtained it. You can also attempt to trade for the pins either here or on PinPics. It's probably a good bet that at least one or two people will go to the releases and auction off some of the pins here on the forums.

As for Craigslist, you can try but there's a couple of things to keep in mind...first being, whoever chooses to help you may not be honest. They may wind up going, keeping the pin for themselves and listing it on Ebay when they find out it's worth. I haven't used Craiglist before so I dunno if something like this were to happen, how much Craiglist can do to help you. Also, you are going to have to pay a person for gas, retail, tax, parking plus whatever they feel their time was worth. Here there's usually some generous people who are willing to help forum members out by getting pins at cost sometimes. Good luck :)

With this release, all the generous people were taken the day these pins were announced lmao Well, there is also jrdnsmom doing the raffle which you should definitely check out if you already haven't, but after that, I doubt there is anyone left unless they haven't been on here since the release.

Eh, you never know :) Someone may be reserving their second one for a game or a raffle but may not do it/post it until they for sure have the pin in their hand. Also, it's not for another couple of weeks yet, maybe someone will wind up having a friend who wants to go with them and the friend will give their spare. Just be hopeful and don't give up I say. If you give up and don't try, you for sure won't get one :)

If you can wait, most of the pins will go down in price in March or April. The only pins that will remain high are some of the Beloved Tails, I'm guessing Lilo & Stitch will always be pretty expensive, and the Tangled pin. Most will be around $20 when they don't sell.

And lets not forget, these releases require 2 trips, one for the wristband & one for the purchase of the pins the following day, so it is twice the cost for gas, & parking plus basically 2 days lost, the hours in the early morning hours in line are awfully cold & long and THEN,after you jump thru all those hoops, you wait a few hours more for the privilege of redeeming your Wristband for your pins.

THAT is why the DSF pins are so costly.................Cheaper to buy them on Secondary market.

Yes, it can be fun to go & visit with friends, but most of us would rather sleep in than wait out in the cold hour after hour, and sometimes we even get to come home empty handed, which is not fun at all!

It really depends on the release I'd think. With this release in specific, the price you'll get back far exceeds the price you'll pay trying to get these pins. For example, thinking in terms of sharks who just resell the pin for profit. If you got 2 Rapunzels you could minimum sell them for $130 each, 2 Up minimum $80 each (yeah I think when all these first come out they'll be inflated), 2 Stitch $50 each, Robin Hood $40 each. Right there you have $600. Subtract the $20 per pin which equals $440. Even between 2 trips of gas which is pricey, you'll still easily make $300 and then some and that is if all the pins don't go higher, Rapunzel very well could if it looks really nice. If you happen to live within 30 minutes of DSF, pretty much all releases aren't bad. I mean, if you are going down there just for the pin, all right, I can see why gas might be a factor, however if you do other things while you're down there, it can be a much more accomplished trip.

People did the Craigslist option last year with the Up Valentines Day set

And here I was just going to post to stay off of Craigslist at all costs. lol There are a lot of shady people on there, concerning pins. As more people learn there is money to be made from Disney pins, more people are going to get scammed. Be very, very careful if you decide to deal with Craigslist.

I second this. People have done this in the past but if you're scammed there's nothing that can be done
