Hey guys! I was just sitting at my desk and looking at a pin that i have in my drawer. I opened the plastic pulled the pin off its backing, removed the mickey back and put my finger on the tip of the needle and tried to wiggle the needle.

I thought to myself "I DO THIS ALL THE TIME WITH ANY PIN I GET!"

lol. does anyone else have a weird habit when they get a pin or see a pin?
:stitch: maybe a dance? ha!

I do that as well (wiggle it to see if the post is loose). I made a trade at the barrels one time and after we had concluded the trade and were exchanging pins, the other trader said, oh, btw, the pin back is loose. EXCUSE ME?! Why didn't you tell me BEFORE?

Along with the pin wiggle, I have to hold the pin at an angle along the light to see any flaws on the surface and edge of the pins rim. Then look for any dips or smudges along the inner design. I'm assuming that's on top of the list as we're waiting in line for your turn to buy a pin?

It's harder with mail trades. I ask all these questions prior to trading unless its the only hope for a long while of me getting it again. It's hard when it's a 2/120 or so ratio no matter what LE.

Not me but I have seen someone actually hand weight pins in each of his hand. I'm guessing to see what was heavier??? Are the first runs heavier that the last run??

hahah, ive seen people do that too! Hold pins in both hands and weigh them LOL. It looks funny

This is an at home ritual... But I do this silly dance and usually sing while I do it... I can always tell the feel of a filmcell through the bubble envelope, So the song usual has to do with filmcells and in the style of King Louie and Balloo... Just giberish words that sound good and rhyme with filmcell... LOL... Wow I am almost embarrassed that I typed this... No not really I guess...You guys know me well enough by now and could probably picture me doing this... Anyone want to do the dance and song with me at the next PTN???... Bwahaha... C'mon Bob you can be Balloo and I'll be King Louie...

OOOhhhhh I'm the King of The Traders... Ooh A DPF VIP...

Let's see... I tend to like have to touch the pin I am so weirded about it. I like to feel and make sure it's smooth like if I buy it or something I don't touch other people's pins in their book but once it's mine I touch it and try and make sure all is good but I check the posts too. I check the sides on the pin to make sure there isn't like extra metal and such :)

OMG me too! I always touch the front part and rub it with my thumb as if I'm shining it. It's weird! LOL

Agreeing with everyone else about testing the post (I've gotten a pin once where it was so rusty, the post broke off), I clean them with a soft cloth.

I run my finger around the edges to make sure that it feels smooth. I also tilt to see at different angles and check for scratches. But if it is a grail or a sub-grail I just keep staring at it :)

LOL I love reading everyone's answers! :) <3

Whenever I get a new pin, I ALWAYS take the Mickey back off, check the post and then look at the backstamp... not even just to see if it's a scrapper or whatever, I just like looking at all the different backstamps.... LOL.... then I like to keep it/them on my bedside table loose for a little while before I put them in my pin book  Majorly nice pins or grails hang on a thumbtack on their card on my cork board for a while.... I think I'm crazy

I have my pins sent to my work PO Box, because it motivates me to actually go check the box every day like I'm supposed to for my job. :D

So when I get packages I like to open them and set them in front of me on my desk for a little while, and just look at them. I also like to just hold them and look at the front and back, just looking at the shine and such... they're nearly always so much prettier in person than in the pinpics photos, I just like to admire them. And have them sitting on my desk for a little while to admire before I pack them back up to take home. :)

HAHAHA, i love reading all these!! I'm happy I started this thread. I guess all of us have some weird OCD when we get pins eh? haha. Disney Crazies!!

I read this thread today while at work....chuckling all the way through it. When I got home I found that my first pin mail had arrived. What do you think I did?

YEP! I walked into the light to get a better look. I shined it up with the bottom of my shirt. I took the back off and wiggled the post. I shined it up again and ran my fingers over the top and the sides to feel for smoothness....LOL!
