Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information

You know...the way they have been going lately, it doesn't surprise me that they have put yet another doll back online. They've been doing that for a while now. Hell, the Wicked Queen popped back on more times then I can remember. What does surprise me, however, is that they haven't released some random statement as to why. I know that a while back they moved their warehouse location, maybe it happened again and they found more. Maybe they did hold some back as preparation for any returns/damages. Maybe they found a shipment or two that were thought to have been lost. I'd like to know what they have to say.
But...also...I'd like to know one more thing. If you were to contact every single person that owns one of a certain doll...are there really no multiples of any edition number(s)? THAT is what the constant re-appearance of LE dolls makes me ponder. ;)

I would have thought that they would have just produced the exact number of COAs and numbered each one, then created the dolls accordingly. My best bet would be that these are a result of faulty or replaced dolls so they would have just created a new one and used the same COA that was in the faulty doll and put it in the new one.

well at least that is what I would like to think of how they do it, hence why they ask you to return the doll if its faulty. But who knows I wouldn't be surprised if there was at least one duplicate number as someone would have been bound to make a mistake, can you imagining coordinating something like this? Unless they have a great system in place, it would be an absolute nightmare.

OMIGOD!!!!!!! I want that Merida soooo bad! I can't believe shes back up on the site! Do you think she'll still be up around the 1st? Im going to Disney World and I need to save every penny I can for that trip but her being only 99.50 would be great on my walet in the future lol

There is really no way to determine if she will still be there on the first or not. There could be 30 of these dolls that they held back for returns and are now offering them up for sale...or there could be 500 of these dolls that were recently found in a lost shipment or something. No one really knows.

If I missed out on this doll and wanted to get it at cost I would try to purchase it sooner than later...but that's just me. :) I purchased her when she was initially released and she is a great addition to the LE 17" collection...her dress is really nice and she comes with some awesome accessories. :)

She really is beautiful. I would looove to add her to my collection! and thanks for your response. Ill think about it and decide but i really do need to save as much as i can for my trip lol $100 is quite a chip in my funds lol. I just hope I can get her, sooner or laater :/

I have a feeling that China Girl limited edition doll will reappear when the Oz film is released on blu ray

I have a question for you fellow doll collectors. :)

So just today I finally acquired the LE 17" Blonde Rapunzel doll...which is totally gorgeous and I love her!

The only thing is...I opened the box to see what number she was and there is no Certificate of Authenticity inside. I have contacted the seller to see if they took it out and accidentally forgot to put it back in the box or something...but would you keep the doll knowing there is no Certificate of Authenticity? She is in great condition and I am not under the impression there are counterfeits of these dolls or anything LOL...but it is weird not knowing what number she is and that she doesn't have her "official papers". And I don't think she was a floor sample as she is in too good of a condition.

What would you do? :)

This is just my personal opinion, and I know others may have differing views, but for me if you like the doll then keep her. I collect dolls for the love of dolls, and I'm not at all worried about certificates etc. Of course there is nothing wrong with being a collector who is bothered by certificates, its all down to personal opinion, and no-one has the right to judge. If its REALLY gonna bug you then dont keep her, but personally I think the doll is so pretty, in time you'll forget about the LE number etc anyway ;)

I had this happen to me before with the wedding Rapunzel... The seller actually never checked to see if there was a COA and I think she got it second hand as well. She offered me 50% off and told me to keep her... I thought it was a good deal so I kept her. Not having a COA does drive down the value of the doll though. So I know you're not planning on selling her but in the future for whatever financial reasons if you must sell her she won't be worth as much as dolls that do have COA. However, i'm not sure how much you paid for her but if you got a good deal on her and you love her than I say keep her...

I totally agree with Holly ant tht30. It really comes down to how much does not having a CoA bother you, if at all.

In a sort of reverse situation, I received my 17" blonde Rapunzel with a CoA, but the box and plastic window are banged up on one side due to the way the seller shipped her (they only put brown shipping paper around the actual doll box... what?!?), but I still kept her, because I love the doll. Obviously, she's not much use for "resale" purposes, but that is not why I buy my dolls. The seller did refund the shipping fees, so I pretty much got her at original cost, and the doll is in perfect condition.

There is still a chance that your doll may be a floor sample, but just one where the local store guests did not trash the box. Maybe the CMs kept her beind the counter to be seen but not touched?

I personally would at least contact the seller about the missing CoA, they should at minimum, discount the price. If you are ok without it then I say keep it, but if it's going to drive you crazy, I would send it back and ask for a refund, and try to get another one. I know the dolls are stamped with their numbers on the back of the doll, but unless you are planning to debox the doll, their is no way to really see if it is part of the LE edition, or a floor model.

Honestly, all mine have their cards of authenticity simply because I was able to make the purchase on the day they were released and was successful. At the end of the day, I can't remember the LE numbers and have lost the little note card I had that said their numbers. I'd contact Seller so see if it's still around just because it is all "cool and official" to have. But...it is really the doll you admire...not the little card that's hidden away. ;)

This happened to me too. I purchased a "new" LE Buzz and Woody doll but when I received it the seals were open and there was no COA. So I contacted the seller as they listed it as new when clearly it was not. They said they honestly had no idea and were willing to refund me some of my money as there was another listing at the same time on eBay that was in a similar condition so she discounted it to the same price that the listing sold for.

I am a bit of a perfectionist so the fact that the COA was missing bothered me so I just bought another one, but that wasn't the only driving factor for me buying another one, the fact that it wa opened and the box was slightly damaged was enough reason for me to buy another.

i do agree with what some people have said and believe that it should not matter if you received a COA or not unless you plan on selling it in the future but it really is a beautiful doll so regardless I think the value is in the doll itself rather than the COA.

The value does go down to some people but others don't mind so much. Personally if it was a doll I was missing I would take it no matter what! I'm only missing four, Rapunzel included, so I would keep her! It just depends on your personal preference :)

She's probably a floor sample, like mine. I wanted her so badly!!! And for $200 I think I got a great deal. I'm not going to resell so I didn't mind ;)

Does anyone think the stuff for Frozen will come out before the movie like Oz and Wreck-it-Ralph and Brave?

Regular merchandise will most likely come out - but for a 17" doll there's a good possibility. They came out with the 17" Sgt Calhoun for Wreck It Ralph before the film was released. Merida 17" came out when the movie did.

Thanks to all for the Merida doll update on the Disney site. I was able to purchase her tonight!!! I missed her last fall but doing a happy dance tonight.

It does make me question why some items go from being sold out months ago to being available ?!? Is it "oh, look what Joe found in the back storeroom' or a new kind of Disney marketing system?

Thanks again I'm grateful for all the information and updates on this board

Weird... I'm beginning to wonder how limited these dolls really are...? Why in the world are we seeing Merida again? 6 months later she's back..? I'm guessing they hold a certain number of them back in case of returns/exchanges, etc. and it's been sold out for so long, no more returns...time to sell the rest!

You know, the same thing happened with Snow White limited edition. I didn't get her when she first came out, regretted it and kept checking back at the Disney store and lo and behold there she was again a few months later. I snatched her up right away. Now I know that I was REALLY lucky.
