Member A posts a pin for sale with a price.

Member B replies that they see the pin selling for a cheaper price someplace else.

I was under the impression that that this wasn't permitted in the sales threads? Did I misunderstand this from the DPF rules?

"Under no circumstances is anyone to reply to a post suggesting that the item can be found cheaper elsewhere. It is the buyer's responsibility (not other forum members) to look for the best deal. Members are trying to sell their items in a safe environment without fear of others trying to undercut their sales."


Can an official reminder be posted somewhere? This just isn't cool in my book.
 
It bothers me too :( I think also when people comment on other people's threads that they have the pin for sale too. Advertising on other people's threads isn't cool either.
 
Yes none of that is cool or ok IMO it's not fair to the seller...some people paid more for certain pins than others so should be allowed to sell at whatever price they want, it's up to the buyer if they want to pay it
 
I agree. It's just plain RUDE.

If you really need to tell them about their prices, PM them. Don't call them out on their thread!

Everyone, look at the lower left corner of my post. See the triangle with the exclamation point in the center? That's the "report post" button. Click on it and it will open a message box where you can type what the problem is. So for the items mentioned in the OP, you could type, violates board rules regarding...

I think the mods would prefer we use that feature than starting threads about violations.
 
I still think it would be nice if a reminder of the rules was posted...even with posts being reported, people are still doing it. I've seen it over and over again the ast few weeks.
 
I agree 100% about this. Although I haven't seen it much, I saw it in one thread so IDK if it has happened in a bunch of threads, but if so, that makes it even worse! Either way, I do think it is very rude as others have said because there isn't really a point of it. Let's analyze that phrase "I've seen it sell for $#":

- That phrase doesn't express any interest in buying it yourself so it isn't like you're asking if they go down, you're just making a statement
- The buyer may view it as an insult saying that their price is too high, if you can't say something on Ebay, you shouldn't here
- If that person is selling it at a price too high, fine, they won't sell it, they'll bump it a few times and then realize that nobody is interested in it because their price is too high, why tell them...let them realize it themselves if anything
- PM them if you think it is too high, but don't post it for all too see.

However, I think THE WORST thing that is even worse than saying it in the first place is when they don't edit it afterwards. The first time they say it, it could be a mistake or an accident, or maybe they were just angry (people say and do things they don't mean when they're angry which is understandable, I do it and so does everyone else). However, if they don't edit it, I think that is the worst of all because you are leaving it there for all who view the thread to see and basically dissuading anyone from trying to buy it. It is like you're a picketer outside a store that won't leave and I think that is really the rudest part :( just my opinion though.

So much of this. It is literally impossible for us to read everything. (There's 3 of us, and 2000 of you!) We do our best, but always need your help. If you see something, say something! Report it! :) It helps us keep things under wraps and keep the community flowing as best as possible.
 
I absolutely agree! So rude and hurtful! If we all hit the report post button and brought it to the mods attention, we could get this garbage off of our forum. I, for one, will start doing just that. 'Nuff said.
 
I will definitely try to keep in mind to report those posts when I see them! I know for me at times when I price a pin higher than normal it is more often than not because I would rather not see it have to go, or because I invested a lot into getting it. Sometimes I'll eventually come down on it, but it's never because someone else suggests for me too (which I can say with all appreciation has not happened to me on my threads or at least from what I can recall).

BugCatcherJenna, I love Thumper's advice too! :D And just because I'll use this video whenever appropriate...
