I never used to have problems doing this before. I would right-click on the picture, click on save to my pictures, and no problem. Now when I try to save one to my pictures, I get a box with this sentence: "The file type being saved or retrieved has been blocked." I tried doing it on my husband's computer, and was able to save a couple of pictures, but that's it (I'm trying to save eight pictures of Hanukkah pins, and am posting them in my Facebook album). I don't know why it work sometimes and other times not--weird.

This is what I've tried doing up til now to copy the pictures:

1. Right-click on the pic, click copy to my pictures.

2. Block and copy the actual photo, put it on my word processing systems (I have both WordPerfect and Word), do the right-click thing, I get the same box, even after doing "reveal codes" to see if I could find the "block" command and remove it. Didn't work.

3. After blocking and copying the pic of the pin, I e-mail it to myself to see if that will work. Same blocking message.

4. Click on the link and copy that (either by getting it from the subject line, or right-clicking and clicking on "properties" and blocking/copying that way) and trying to e-mail it to myself or however that brings up the picture, which it does, but I still get the "block" message when I try to copy it to my pictures in my computer.

Any suggestions? Thanks...

Hannette

I had that problem for a while. I deleted my cookies and tried again. I believe there is a post about this in the Announcements and Information thread. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion about clearing the cookies...although it didn't work as far as helping me copy the Pinpics pictures. But at least I cleared a lot of cookies out of my computer, lol!

I'm not sure which post you're referring to in the Announcements section...I'll look through again.

I have the same problem - on my lap-top at home I cannot save the pictures after doing exactly what you described above, BUT on my wife's laptop & work lap-top no problem! I'm possibly thinking that it is something to do with your IE or firewall security settings on your PC. I also have to rename files from .jpeg to .jpg for them to be opened - still not 100% sure what the problem is??

Maybe...I just don't understand then why I have no problems copying pictures that way from other sites. I'm wondering if I go use a computer at the library it would work...that's something to try.

 Oops. Internet Explorer.

Try this:

  1. Right click on an image from Pin Pics
  2. Select "Properties"
  3. From the information that pops up, copy the "Address (URL)"
  4. On DPF, click the Insert Image icon (
    insertimage.png
), then the "From URL" tab
  5. Paste the URL from the Pin Pics image
  6. Click "Insert Image"
Let me know if that works!

Try saving the webpage, then open the folder containing the images. I dunno why Pinpics wouldn't allow saving the image but that works for me when I try saving the image.

The problem is not with the linking of the URL of the image from Pinpics but saving the image to a hard drive - this gives the "The file type being saved or retrieved has been blocked"

Yes, Earthbound, that's what happens. It's frustrating, though, that I can block and copy the photo of the pin, go to my e-mail address, and then e-mail the picture to myself--but when I try to right-click and save it to my hard drive, it still gives me the blocked message, I can't seem to get rid of it, which made me think that it's something "protective" in Pinpics. But then why can other people save them? Don't get it...

Tonight I asked my sister to try it from her computer and send it to me. She got the same blocking message. ARGH. :anxious:

What I usually end up doing, is using my graphics program and use it's "screen capture" feature, to cut and paste the image, and then save it as a jpg.

If you follow those steps I mentioned earlier, paste and go to the URL you copied, are you able to save that image to your computer?

And sorry for the slow replies. I've been having internet connection problems for the past several days.

Jessta, yeah, I tried that (you can still see my post in the test section here). I have no problem getting the picture on here at DPF, but it still won't let me copy to my hard drive.

Good news though...I found the pins I need pictures of, I can take shots of them and then put them in my hard drive.

P.S. I keep thinking it's something on Pinpics that's not letting me copy, because I've copied pictures from Pinpics that are on e-Bay and have no problem!

we also have the new [pinpics] tag for everyone's use. I'll make a post about it shortly. It's been around for a while, but it wasn't until just a few minutes ago that I got it working the way we wanted it to.

just put the pinpics ID between the [pinpics] and [/ pinpics] tags (without the space) and you'll get something like this:

[pinpics]15374[/pinpics]

when you hover over it..... youll get a little popup of the pin image ;) neat, huh?
