A lot of the weird shaped and small PTDs don't have the back logos to the edge. Heck even the new Beloved Tales don't have their logos going to the edge. That is no longer a measurement for fakes for DSF pins.

The ice cream back-stamp doesn't go all the way to the edge of the pin. Here's a picture of the back of my Kevin PTD that I got from DSF

I traded for two recent PTDs and I noticed that the qualities were very different, one was thick and shiny while the other was more dull and had slight dips in the paint. They were also in different types of bags. I know they're real because they just came out, but does DSF get them from different companies?

take pics of your PTD's, and post an inquiry in the pin comparisons forum. Some of the folks who frequent that sub forum are exceptional with telling fakes from real, and are not as active in the rest of the forums.
 
The only fake PTD I know of is the Tinker Bell holding the cherry on a plate 79505. That one has been faked and it is pretty obvious when you get it. I've seen a suspect 75572 Tink but I can't verify it is fake. I know for sure the 79505 is faked, there are like 3 on eBay. Check out ended item 111041290701. It has the cones all the way to the edge but the front is terrible. Extra metal, dull paint, bad glitter. Gross.
 
Yes. I was one of the unfortunate ones to get stuck with this Tinker Bell fake. I traded a good pin too. It makes me mad.
