I recently obtained this framed pin set, and even though I think it's one of the coolest things ever - I'm wondering if anyone knows what it's worth or if there's any interest in it. I'm thinking of selling it but have no idea how to go about doing that.

I know they were a LE set and on top of that they released puzzle pieces from different movies separately, but then I believe I heard that the full LE run didn't sell so sets were destroyed or they stopped making them? Or I might be making this up hahaha

Anyway, this one is Test Track and features Toy Story pins :) I like it but it really has no place in my collection. Any ideas on history or value would be great!

I did find this when researching this as the Spaceship Earth set is one I would like - "Guests who want to be sure of collecting every "Pin of the Day" pin can join the Millennium Pin Club. Each month of the 15 months of the Millennium Celebration, members receive a framed photomosaic pin set depicting images of Epcot. Membership, available to the first 2,000 guests who sign up, costs $3,000, includes the home-delivered pin sets, a special gift and a certificate signed by Robert Silvers."
 
Yeah, they were supposed to be a "pin a day" set, that bombed big time. Like redstorm posted, you could join a club to get them all. However, when we went in Sept 2000, they were selling complete month sets at Company D for some ridiculously cheap price, like maybe $25 or $40. I can't remember. My parents bought all they had. The first pin, though, DID sell out.
 
Anyway, value... I doubt there is a huge market for them. I think they were supposed to be LE2000, but how many were actually made... not sure. But it's in the frame, maybe a Toy Story or Test Track collector?
 
I have the Aladdin/Morocco one, and I've always had a problem placing the value, too...it never seems to show up on eBay, and I'd rather not pay for shipping with it. I wouldn't mind trading it, but taking it to every PTN is a hassle...

The Aladdin set just got listed on Ebay at $119.99 OBO. It is not framed, but rather individual pins on cards.

Depending on if it sells or not, you might be able to get a feeling for its value.

I also found Epcot Fantasia/Tapestry of Nations (PP 49213) on Ebay. Again, it is not framed and the set is missing the very first pin. Listed at $129.99 OBO.

I did some more search on completed listings.

@Brittany - there is a completed BIN/OBO sale for your set. It was listed as $129 OBO, but I can not see the sale price. The seller had 2 sets, but unframed. I can e-mail you the link and maybe you can ask the seller how much they went for. And then adjust your asking price to include the frame.

@Nicole - there is an Aladdin sold auction style. I found it on ebay.ca. It was sold on March 21st. Then, same person who sold the Test Track Set, also sold the Morocco one. Again asking price was $129 OBO, but I can not see the actual sale price.

I always loved those sets. It was a horrible idea of having a Pin of the Day series to last 15 months or whatever it was. Somewhere I do have the pin that started it all, the Pin of the Day from October 1st, 1999. The first day of Disney Pin Trading. I think that that pin should be considered the first Disney trading pin released since it was from the day Disney Pin Trading started and was the pin of the day and is on a dated card.

Cool- that might explain why I never found it...I always search with "frame" or "framed", since mine is still in frame. It kind of matches up with what I expected the value would be...

I can't imagine taking those things out of the frames, though...that is a LOT of pins to deal with...
 
Just remember, this set was designed to be sold as a pin of the day where the pins were sold on cards individually each dated on the card. The framed sets were made available and is how you see the pins most often these days but the pins were not made exclusively for the framed sets.
