Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information
I'm also glad the people on facebook are complaining about the price because the thought of a little child playing with her.. v.v
Ruining her.. is terrible.. I looked on Ebay yesterday and I found a Designer Villain with no clothes that they were selling for 5 bucks.

It's nice to be able to see her whole tail like this. However I think the most recent leaked photos on Flickr do her more justice. I'm not a fan of promotional pictures where the colors have been altered like they have been in this one. The tail's color particularly is different in real life from the one in this photo.

You think so? I think the tail's color looks pretty accurate...idk! Lol

Disney's photo makes her tail look much lighter and bluer in color than the leaked Flickr photos. I am weird about color differences though. What I think is a difference probably wouldn't seem like one to other people. Since you saw her in person, would you say the Disney photo or Flickr photos more accurately depict the actual shade?

I am upset that DS did this FB announcement but I think it is a gamble for resellers because they have no way to know if it is a sell-out until October and Disney typically holds some dolls back. Most of the LEs took a few days to weeks to sell out online, but then came back again. I think the economy is impacting sales and DS is keenly aware of that so maybe they felt they needed some buzz on this but I hope all collectors will be able to get it given it is a pre-order.

Nope! I would say the Disney Store's photos are more accurate to her colors. The ones from Flicker were very saturated IMO. I think there was a filter on the phone the photos were taken with, or maybe it was because of the harsh back room lighting from the Cast Member break room. Everything looks accurate compared to the DS photo IMO. I actually went back and looked at her again today, too! So she is fresh in my mind. She didn't have a fork either, I remembered to look this time! Lol

Based on the previous releases... this is not a doll that should be attractive to resellers. All the other ones did not go for significantly higher than retail for quite some time after release--heck, Cinderella currently sells for around $100 on ebay, including shipping, meaning anyone who bought her at full retail is losing money after ebay fees and shipping. And Ariel is a higher LE than Cinderella.

I agree the photo that appeared on Flickr did look very orange which I am guessing was a mix of the lighting and possible filters on the persons camera. Which I am assuming they just used their phone. Whereas the Disney photo would have been done professionally with more lighting so I would definitely say that the Disney photo reflects the truer colors of the doll. Mind you that being said I wouldn't be surprised if the Disney photo was heavily photoshopped as well to make it look 'perfect'.

That is very true and is another reason why I believe Ariel will not sell out within hours but more like weeks. I remember with Cinderella I was umming and ahhhing over whether or not to get her. I eventually did but that wasn't until about 3-4 weeks into her going up on sale. Let's face it, whilst this is an amazing doll she definitely does not that have that classic appeal to her that would get her selling at the $800-1000 market that Snow and Alice have been getting in the secondary market. That and as you mentioned her LE size is 1000 more than any of the past princesses which I still think is Disney's way of saying that this Ariel doll is different to the other princesses due to the different edition size and the lack of dress.

I think she looks actually really pretty. If I collected princesses, I'd buy her. She looks very regal and mature, almost as if she reached her mid 20s and returned to the seas. I think my only complaint would be that her scales are huge. So huge. But the colors and the "natural look" they made her with make it a really pretty doll. And...for those same reasons...I WANNA SEE URSULA! ;)

Also...I've seen those comments about the parents complaining about it being too expensive for them to buy for their kids. I just wanna respond and have one of two responses.
1) Quit your lying. You know you just don't wanna pay that much you cheapskates.
And/Or
2) You want to give these limited edition collector dolls to your children...to play with. YOU'RE IDIOTS!

Thanks for letting me know. I actually kinda liked the color of the tail from the Flickr pictures better. I just wish I could see her in person. My DS won't let anyone see it before the pre-order. You are so lucky that you were able to see her in person not once, but twice. I don't know why some stores are being so weird about that. I think a customer should be able to see what something looks like in person before they buy it.

I agree about the photoshopping. Too much of that happens with products. A little editing needs to be done to photos, but they should still accurately represent the product. It's surprising when something arrives and it looks different from the pictures online.

Haha that is sooo true! I am pretty sure there are some people out there that say it is for their kids but deep down love the dolls more, so will be the ones that say they buy it for their kids but they take care of it and the kids can only look but not touch haha.

I know what you mean about her being pretty as well, I just don't think she has that classic look that Snow and Alice have and has a more modern look like Cinderella hence why I believe she will never reach the $800-$1000 mark on the secondary market which I am more than happy about. Means if I do somehow miss out I will still hopefully be able to get her at a reasonable rate on the secondary market.

Depending on what Ursula ends up looking like there is a high possibility that she will probably more in demand than Ariel.

On the UK Disney Store Facebook page it says she's being released this summer. I thought she was getting an October release though :dunno:

Oh good Lord. Don't give me cause to worry. 0.o I am so looking forward to her release and my owning. ;) I do so truly hope that she is phenomenal, fat, and a total diva. After all, she was based on a drag queen named Divine...SO SHE BETTER BE! ;)
<3

Wow....some of y'all have to quit being so dadgum picky! Have you ever made a doll? It isn't easy!!!! And what would it take to please you anyway??!?! Think a little outside the box.

I think its because I work there seasonal, they trust me not to take pictures and share them. ^^ And they know I'm bananas about them, so they spoil me a little bit! Lol.
They will have the doll up on display ON the 29th for sure. So technically you will be able to see it before you buy it...even if its only for a minute! :(

so for the online preorder, i remember from the cinderella preorder but i had more than enough then, when the preorder shows up on my debit account, will the funds have to actually be there? Because i wont have $100 in the account at that time because ill have prordered one in store as well and i dont want anything to go wrong with either of them haha

When I ordered the Cinderella, they took the money the week before they shipped her. I'd say to be safe, get the money in there as soon as possible.

Oooh Ariel looks gorgeous in that picture! I've been debating on getting her but now I'm pretty sure I will haha. I really want to see Ursula as well! Come on Disney let us poor unfortunate souls see the divine Miss U!!!!!!!!

Broke down and bought my first 17" LE today!! :/ Merida and Elinor, I've seen the mixed reviews but definitely my favorite movie and while the dresses aren't super detailed they look wonderfully movie-accurate. Super excited and I already know Ariel is a must. Oh, dear, it has begun. :wiggle:

l agree- l bought Merida ages after she was released & then re-released and I ended up getting doll #200 and something. :-) But good idea though.

I like Ariel more than I thought I would from the leaked pictures, though I don't care for what they did to her seashells. My main problem with her is the hideous, visible doll stand. I prefer stands to be obscured whenever possible.

I am undecided at this point. Since I need to budget for collectibles, I am really hoping the rest of the Designer Couples are leaked before Ariel goes up for pre-order. That would give me an idea of what I need to budget. If only one or two of those (total) interest me, I will pick Ariel up for sure.
