Just a bossy opinionated service announcement by your friend Dawny:wavey:

I have noticed over the past few years pleas on here and at events for folks who have lost or mis-placed a pin book. Sadly in a very few of these instances the books vanish and we all know there are horrible thieves among us as in any hobby, job or venue. I wish on these people terrible things that i will get an infraction for describing but it involves ointment and adult diapers.

Anyway back to us happy good kind generous crazy pin traders, who when seeing something shiny 10 feet away rush over, forgetting pin bags, water bottles and small children.

Everyone today make on a printer, with a sticky label or whatever ya got an ID tag for every single bag, pull bag, lanyard, pin hat, vest, buca, luggage WHATEVER. It can just have your name and cell phone or email if you dont like having your addy "out there" plus cell would be the quickest way for somebody to find you as soon as the book is lost (except for docfish who will be sending smoke signals with his 1992 flip phone with the antenna) true fact.:werd:

That about sums it up....we have MyDpins all weekend and the big 13 event around the corner and CNJPT weekend in Oct so lets not lose any pins ok!:nono: HAPPY TRADING

Say what you want Dawny, but my phone does something most of your new fangled ones doesn't, I can make and receive a phone call anyplace I am, I don't drop calls and besides change is bad!!!:poke:

Thank you for the great suggestion, Dawny!! We're going to spend some time trading at the Villains event & I've heard some awful pin-disappearing stories involving cherished pins.

Also watch out for the ones with big floppy sleeves checking your pins Hubby caught some one trying to slip pins in her sweater last year and he was sitting there no they were not mine but he saved some one elses pins from from walking away. So Just to add a helpful hint

Yay, for your hubby! Give him a hug for me. That is fabulous that he caught that thief.

i expect hugs from everyone! please introdue yourself with your ID on here since thats how i connect in my brain. I will have my DPF maid marian pin Docfish made for me....and ya might see me in my new PINK pin trading apron.....yeh its real-started as a joke and has become a thing.

Dawn, you are too funny. But made some very valid points.

For what is worth, there are several Disney tag engraving machines around WDW. I had a Lion King (at the Art of Animation Resort) printed up in less than 5 minutes, with all my info on it.
This one came with a leather strap, but I am betting you could put a metal strap/chain of some sorts on there that would make it much more difficult to cut off if the bag should grow feet and make haste for the door.

Kim i LOVE that idea---more sturdy than my business card taped on....i was addressing more losing a bag than having one stolen. The thought of that makes me puke.

That's great advice Dawny. I'm off to WDW in December while you'll all be at DLR lol.

Poor Docfish

Again, there have been reports of stolen pins. TRUE and sad, very very sad and i would hope people are very alert and say something if you see anything. Watch your books and high end pins. BUT this was geared more toward the more common occurance of many of us who leave a book or bag behind in the excitement (yeh ive done it and all the blood drained from my body)--thank heaven the person whom i just traded with handed it to a CM. TW1080 that is a COOL thing. i saved it on my computer. i think i wanna put it on my sons car! lol yeh im kinda serious on that.

Another one of these app locating chips things is this one: http://www.thetileapp.com/

Been reading up on it and as more users get it, it creates a network of security that can locate your chip even when out of range of your phone. Might not be viable for a while for locating something if stolen until more people start using it, but these things are coming around to reasonable prices.

What a great idea, I never would have thought of a tag :D. Very excited for the 13 event, it will be my first event and I can't wait to meet all of you!!! I may have my David pin by then, so you can connect the screen name with the face. :D

Great hints Dawny! I will have my Villains nametag (Figment919), and my Villains nametag (Michael) and probably wearing my Scar "I'm surrounded by Idiots" baseball cap (pic is my avatar). Older Trader with gray hair and not much of it!!

In a serious sense, I am only really bring the pins I have already set up "pre-Event" Trades with Members, and, MAYBE one pin book. Too many "loose hands" around to chance leaving any of my high-end stuff out.
