Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information
Oh, and I just want to say that I have the BEST husband. After we received Ursula and Eric in the mail (I got Ariel in the store earlier) and I was gazing at all three of them happily in our living room table, I caught him staring at the wall with his hands on his hips looking deep in thought. I thought he was upset at having to put up with my spending (this is the most I've ever spent at one time; I'm also getting the designer couples and spend money on pins. omg) so I decided to apologize for spending so much on this hobby of mine. He shook his head and said, "Oh, I'm just trying to figure out how we're going to display your dolls." *melts* I love this man, especially because he puts up with all of my....how shall I put it...idiosyncrasies? lol:love:

I would think that LE Maleficent will have sculpted horns and a very voluminous robe that covers her from neck to toe. How they plan on topping the 1998 Mattel Great Villains Maleficent is what I want to know. :)

Yeah, my LE Ursula is like that, too, where her eyes were expanded over the sculpture line of her upper eyelid. I think all of the dolls are like this.

I have the Great Villains one on my WL too.

Thank you! haha. Yeah, its really nice to see other unboxers! I just got asked if I was crazy on instagram because I unboxed my dolls!! :nono::crazy:

I was like excuse me?? They are MY dolls and I'll do what I want with them.

I love posing them and taking photos of them and dressing them.I really don't get what the big deal is. :dunno:

:soapbox:
Im too nervous to debox that I would get them dirty or ruin but I really admire when people do it. Especially when they take pictures and set them in scenes. Its really cute.

you mean there's still hope of me getting belle, alice, jack and Sally without selling my soul to someone on eBay?!
yeah I keep checking here and ebay to find them at good prices. I literally have like 4 or 5 dolls coming this week because i got great deals. If only I could find Designer Ariel at a decent price. She is kind of my grail for dolls right now.

*cries* I went to pick up my uncancelled Eric and Ursula dolls from UPS yesterday (I live in Canada, so I drive across the border to save on shipping and customs) and it was even worse than I was expecting: NONE of my orders were cancelled! So not only do I have TWO extra Eric and Ursula dolls, I have TWO extra Ariel dolls. I even had to pay extra storage on the Ariels because they were there since last week and I didn't get any kind of notification. I think this is the last time I'll do the backup order online (for me AND my best friend). 5 of the 6 dolls are in perfect condition at least. 1 of the Eric dolls has a crushed box and warped plastic cover. I haven't called the Disney Store about any of this. I thought I'd come here first and see if you guys think I'd have trouble selling these dolls (for what I paid + shipping) on this forum. I'm also going to try Kijiji and Craigslist. I don't know. Maybe Disney Store will let me return them? It's like $800 on my credit card in extra dolls!!!!!!!!!! What a nightmare :(
i would love an Eric or Usula if you decide to sell. Im in MA so shipping from CA shouldnt be too too bad.

Does anyone know anything about the LE Frozen Dolls? I havent bought a 17" doll before and i'd love to get the frozen ones as the dolls theyve released so far are just beautiful and true to the characters designs. I cant wait to see the 17" dolls and hopefully i'll be able to afford them when they are released...

That's awesome, your husband is a good man :) My husband impressed me as well. Yesterday we moved his desk into the living room so I could have more room in our bedroom to paint. I am going to paint a large painting of a ship to hang over our bed. Our bedroom is soon going to have a Nautical Theme and I am putting up all of my TLM collection. The curtains will look like ship sails, and the catch to the ship painting, is that it is going to be the ship from the movie TLM, but it will look realistic. My husband thinks it is going to look "pretty cool." I am also going to paint a Flounder and scuttle on a wooden circle to look like they are looking into the ship from outside the circle windows (I got the idea from google images). Anyways, he thinks my Little Mermaid 17 inch dolls are really neat, and he thinks my Art of Ariel Plate (limited edition 200 one) is a neat picture. I am glad I have such an understanding husband. One of my paintings is on my "home page." I wanted to post it as my picture for the forum, but I can't figure out how to do that.

Yep, he's a keeper!

My husband complained about my getting these dolls, but then said he'd take Tuesday off to try to help me get Ariel/Eric. Actually, he just likes to complain. He's very good at it. But he's a softie. He doesn't say no to me because, as even HE says, I don't really ask for a lot. If I could have anything, it would be that he'd complain just a bit less.

Look at your great collection! And that Snow White doll is GORGEOUS! I've been looking for that one (for what seems like forever) but can't find her at a price I can afford :( I'm hoping one day to get her
Love how you display them!! I do have mine along the top of my bookcases. But I covered all mine in clear plastic to protect them from dust and the sun.

May we see a picture of your bedroom when it is finished? :)

Our husbands thinking the same about our dolls and collections :D

Hurray for amazing husbands! I am very blessed as well. I have been collecting Little Mermaid/Disney things for many years and as my collection grows larger my husband is always very caring and understanding. He is always trying to find ways to protect my collection and appropriate ways to display them with the things that come home. Many of my things are in storage units, but whatever is purchased that comes home, he is always trying to find ways to put them up. He was very impressed with the Little Mermaid 17" dolls and while he knew I would want them because it's TLM, he was excited because he thought they were really nice and detailed. For the DFDC I had no plans in getting Belle at first because I was not crazy with beast and because these dolls start to add up. After seeing them in person, I really wanted them. BatB has always been one of my favorite movies and he was surprised that I was sacrificing that set. He saw my face when I saw them in person and knew I wanted them. He told me, "you need to get the set, you will regret it if you don't". "These dolls make you happy, get them". I know I have an amazing husband and I am so grateful to have one that loves me so much and shares in the things that make me happy. So glad to know there are other husbands out there that make their wives feel like the princesses they are :):hug:

MY DH is accepting. He's a gamer, so he has his own things. He is concerned about the amount of money Ive spent in the last few weeks, (In the past week, I will have acquired 5 dolls/sets) as Im supposed to be saving up for a training I want to do in the Spring. He said if I dont have the money for the training he's not charging it since Ive been spending the moeny on the dolls. But he supports me buying them. And he even put up the shelves for them, but I have to have him move them, and he said he will. Great guy!

Part of what makes this forum such a positive experience is the sweet people here, it is nice to hear that many of us have amazing support from home! My guy doesn't collect dolls but he does appreciate them and helps me pick them out. His favorites are the Designer Princesses (because they are so unique and classy!), we're going to go try to get an Ariel and Eric on Tuesday. He just saw TLM for the first time all the way through this week and loved it! So fun to share Disney with your partner! I also share the love of transformers, Ninja Turtles, and He-Man with him ^^ We stopped separating my toys into "girl toys"
and his into "boy toys" a long time ago when we realized that we both enjoy all of them.

So I did get my dolls in the mail on Wed like the tracking promised (for once! I hate UPS). However, I found the boxes to be regular boxes without any cushioning in them. This worries me because if they get jostled in the mail and damaged, it could very well damage the doll box too. The boxes, for me, are just as important as the doll. Well anyway, I opened them with trepidation but was happy to discover they were fine :) I inspected both Ursula and Eric to make sure they were okay too and I noticed that Eric's epaulettes were all over the place. They looked like they are having a bad hair day. LOL. I'm not going to be upset because of this because I know it's fixable I just need to figure out how to fix it. Anyone have any ideas?

To fix the fringe on LE Prince Eric's epaulettes, you will have to open the box all the way to get to the doll. From there, it should not be too much trouble to smooth the fringe out with your fingers into a more manageable state. Then, just put the cellophane window and top of the box back on. :) The fringe on his epaulettes were a big worry for me, but my doll came in practically perfect condition with only a few bits of fringe initially out of place which I have since fixed.

Thats awesome! Yay for supportive hubbies. It took him this long to see TLM all the way through though? Haha

This sounds amazing! Can't wait to see pics once you've finished!

My hubs is a good un too, although he has his own collections too so it's all give and take really isn't it? We're decorating our bedroom in the new year and he has promised me some shelves to display my entire designer princess collection. It's the only safe place for them to be now we have a 4 month old daughter ha! I'm beginning to forget what they look like as they've been kept in boxes since I had them.

I keep looking on here hoping for either pics of Anna and Elsa or at least a release date....something needs to get leaked soon so I know when I need to have the money ready lol

Thanks! I think it will look pretty cool. My husband thinks I am a Disney "addict," which I was going to refute, but then realized he was right, so I just agreed. Yes, I completely understand about having children and Protecting your dolls (keeping them at a safe distance). I have the Cinderella 17 inch doll and Lady Tremaine 17 inch doll my 1year old's bedroom on her dresser, and people ask me if I am going to give them to her when she is older so she can PLAY with them. I tell them there is no way I will ever let her play with them, and they look at me like I am so mean, or some kind of weirdo. They just don't understand. I will be putting up shelves for my 17 inch dolls in my room for sure. I would have a heart attack if I found them opened up and being played with. BUT, I love my kiddos so much more than those dolls.

You are not a weirdo, I say the same thing and my husband agrees with me. 17" dolls and the designer dolls are for collectors. By all means if someone wants to purchase one for their child to play with that is their choice, but I would not let my children play with them. That is what the 12" classical dolls are for. :)

I Finally Got a remedy to my damaged Ursula box, Im getting a 20 gift card. Whoo hoo lol. And I lost the designer couple ariel and eric. :( Im just not lucky at all. Now I get to play the "online at 3a.m. ups, Disney doesnt know how to package game."

Haha I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I feel kinda mean but knowing what I went through to get those 10 dolls she isn't going near them! I've got the first lot of animator dolls still boxed so may pass those on when she is old enough.

I could just imagine when she is older going into our bedroom and me walking in and she is playing with my designer dolls. I'd cry!
