Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information

Just quickly had to chime in as another Vancouverite! (I live in Coquitlam too! Hi!)

More on topic, my Coronation Elsa has the same eyelash issue several other people mentioned. This makes me think it was more an oversight in construction (and that a lot more people just haven't looked close enough yet to see it) than just an anomaly. And honestly that makes me feel a bit better about it. I was lucky enough to get them in-store - first time I've been so lucky - and it was eating at me that I didn't hold out for a more perfect doll. So it's actually reassuring to know that it's a design issue that I would probably have been stuck with no matter what... if that makes any sense?

Eep! As cool as it is to see so many fellow collectors from the same area (Burnaby here!) we are technically each others competition when it comes to acquiring the dolls. Not that it's been very difficult so far, but with the recent major increase in popularity...

I really feel Disney Store needs to start upping the LE number OR start selling the 17" dolls in the same manner they've been selling the Designer dolls - in store one day, online at midnight the following day for those who miss out in store. The days of a 17" pre-order lasting on the website for nearly a month (horribly movie inaccurate Cinderella, I'm looking at you) are long gone.

i do hope it's friendly competition though! and hypothetically speaking, while i would be upset if a person before me got the last item that i wanted, there is always ebay and things like that (even with their inflated prices).

and don't worry about me. i don't collect dolls. ;D
snow globes on the other hand? different story. i would totally go "this is sparta" on y'all.
... i'm kidding. really. :c

It's always been friendly so far :) And even with a bunch of collectors from the same area, getting the larger edition size dolls is (hasn't been, yet) no trouble. For the March Elsa/Anna pre-order there was only five or six people waiting by the time the store opened at 10am, and they had 11 of each doll up for order, I believe. Plus we have the two locations now, so that helps spread it out at bit.

I'd still like to see them change the way they sell the 17" dolls to match the Designer dolls, though. It's more reassuring with two chances, for those of us lucky enough to live close to a Disney Store at least.

Agree. I get the sense of this too. One option they could do is create some kind of fan club which allows those members an advance pre-sale link to the dolls. Not quite a pre-order link but a pre-sale. Like they offer for fans of popstars. It generally works. For sure the scalpers do find their way around it & some concert tickets do eventually end up online but on the whole fans of the starlet/rock star gets the seat they wanted. As these dolls become more and more popular, one way of keeping the dolls limited edition whilst ensuring collectors of the dolls get the dolls.....could....be some sort of fan club pre-sale option.

oh i see. i've never been to a doll pre-order so i was wondering how hectic it gets around this area.

i've been to the bluray release and there was a decent line up on that day. not to compare the two, that's just the only time i waited in line for frozen things. c:

I don't think Disney will up the LE size unless they know that the character is popular like they did with Ariel. Instead what they probably will do is release more dolls. They have definitely increased the number of dolls released each year when you compare it to the initial release where we only had Snow in 2009.

I feel that this year Aurora will revert back to the original 5,000 similar to the other princesses and Maleficent will probably increase to 3,000.

the preorders actually do work and Disney actually already has a "club" in D23. Yes the preorders are selling out faster than normal but don't forget selling thousands of dolls online can still take a while especially with the limit of one doll per order. I believe the fastest that these dolls sold out were in about 15 minutes with the Ursula release last year. Mind you the edition size was pretty low but if you are ready and online for the release the probability of you being able to get a doll is relatively high.

I think that the Disney store US should just do what the UK does and restrict people to ordering just one per person per household and if a person orders more than one then they cancel the order. This will definitely make it harder for those who order more than one doll like we saw with the last Frozen release where some bought up to 15 of each doll which is rather ridiculous.

@Allie.Pin: I hope you'll red this message, I tried responding to you but your Inbox is full.
Thank you so much for trying to help me, it's okay. I really appreciate it!

Eesh. My dolls arrived at my bf's address and his roommate wanted to ship them but the post office told him it would be £75. So now my dolls are stuck in Belfast and they will be for a while because we don't have £75. But oh well, at least I know they're safe.

Hope everyone who wants their dolls got them ok because I have been watching ebay and the prices keep going up well at least on Elsa anyway...shes my favorite and I want her but It looks like I will need to sell a kidney in order to be able to afford her at these prices. Oh well going to keep looking any maybe just maybe one day I will find her at a decent price. Wouldnt hold my breath though lol. I am new to this any tips on how and where besides ebay to get these dolls

Wow! Fascinating. I'm not sure the numbers will go up (LE). But maybe the manner in which they spread the numbers around could be improved.

Yup - I agree with D23 - maybe they could use this already existing "community" to provide the pre-order pre-sale for all fans of Disney dolls collectors around the globe. You're right, it does seem a little silly that the American store allows customers multiple purchase orders while their 'cousins' abroad have their hands tied (and with the incredibly popular dolls a tiny chance of getting one doll never mind processing an order on more).

I can't wait for Aurora and couples. As i said, I am new but loving it so far. Yes there are disappointments but for me it just makes me appreciate the ones that i do have in my collection (Ursula, Tink and Zarina). Plus, i've found this fantastic community of lovely peeps.:wavey:

I also got my Elsa today :D. It took a long time for her to reach me because of the forwarding service and then UPS taking its sweet time... but now she's here. I find the doll to be a true beauty! The online photos don't do her justice, especially when it comes to the teal-ish color on her dress. However, something that bothers me is the way she is placed inside the box, compared to coronation Anna. Anna seems to be pushed deeper inside the box, while Elsa juts out forward a bit, making the two look odd when displayed next to each other. Yes, I am nitpicking :)). In any case, I'm happy to now have a full Anna-Elsa set, and apart from the DVD and maybe a set of "Couture de Force" figgies, I feel like I finally have all the Frozen stuff I could wish for <3

I only have one le doll which is snow outfit anna, my boyfriend stayed up till midnight and was on the minute the link was up, i am so grateful and shes BEAUTIFUL. I was wondering since you have coronation Anna which do you think looks more like Anna face wise

Snow Anna is more face accurate than Coronation Anna.

Snow Anna as well!
Though I just can't decide between Snow Queen Elsa and Coronation Elsa! Which do you like better? I like Elas's face more on the Coronation doll, but her hair is more fabulous on the SQ version. I suppose the dresses are equally beautiful, though different...?

I prefer Sq Elsa over Coronation while both nice I think Sq is far superior. Love her hair, cape, the lighter colours and sparkles and all the little details. While I like the coronation, I hate it's hair and the cape isn't that impressive it should have been longer. I guess I also find the colour scheme dark and bland compared with the lighter one of Sq Elsa.

I also prefer Snow Anna to Coronation.

Sq Elsa:
Cape is not impressive. Should have had more snow flakes. And her sleeves should have had more gems. Pretty much switch clothes with Harrods and it'll
Be fine.

Her face is a little bit off.

Coronation Elsa: differently the least impressive doll of the series, the only positive thing I can say about the doll is that her face is perfect. :S

I think the problem is we're all expecting these dolls to look like they walked off the screen, when really they started out as more elaborate, stylized versions of their movie looks. I can see why Elsa's coronation cape seems small compared to the movie, but all 4 Frozen dolls are breathtaking--regardless of the movie at all. Even if I didn't like the movie, I'd love them just as much. In fact, some of my favorite Disney dolls are of characters I don't even really like all that much.

Anyway, if we're sharing who our faves are, I prefer both coronation sisters. They just look so elegant and compliment each other so nicely. I love the snow gear versions, too, of course, but they look a bit casual compared to the other dolls in the line (um, minus Ariel--but I love Ariel, too).

I definitely prefer the Coronation versions of both characters. Which is why I was in such a hurry to snag Anna after she was released in November... And then when I heard they were making a Coronation Elsa I started saving and planning my attack on the DS :)). That being said, the other two are also wonderful, hands down. Compared to all of the other LE Disney dolls, the "Frozen" girls all look very film-accurate and recognizable; and their dresses are closest to their original designs, rather than being covered in 1000 extra bits and sparkles (in some dolls like the Rapunzel one, that extra stuff looks tacky and over-saturated to me). What I find sad about the SQ Elsa is that her cape does not have all the snowflakes it needs, and the dress itself could've been more ice-ish as well. I feel like they were lazy or greedy when they added the crystals to her dress - there's not enough of them and it bothers me that they're all the same size, and a big size at that. Also, her purple-ish skin reminds me of the Corpse Bride a bit. Coronation Elsa has a perfect face :P. However, I'm not so hot about the way they treated her box in the second wave... Her default position is weird compared to first wave Anna, who looks dainty and natural. Also, I do understand that the hair is part of the reason why she's jutting out more than the first release, but I wish they had dedicated some time to fixing that look. Maybe if they made the box a bit thicker? I guess if they'd've done that then some new problems would've arisen. But yeah, my top 4 would be:

1) Coronation Anna
2) Coronation Elsa
3) SQ Elsa
4) Snow Anna

Snow Anna has a very pretty face but to be honest I don't feel like her clothes are anything special. They are very well done, of course, and nicely decorated... But I'm not so hot for that design - not even in the movie. I feel like her signature colors are in the sphere of green - khaki - red; just like Elsa's signature colors are teal - purple - blue. Giving Anna that purple cape doesn't sit right with me :P

This is a very interesting analysis and is definite proof that each person has completely different perceptions of these dolls. In my opinion Coronation Anna has some similarities to her character but in terms of looks she is far from it. In fact her snow gear doll looks more like her than her coronation one. For starters they have the strand of hair? The long eye lashes, the smaller face etc so there is a lot of differences. I think most people forget that these dolls are supposed to be glammed up versions of their actual characters.

I personally think rapunzel was done very one very well and that the rhinestones and decorations used were quite tasteful and made sense. The fact that she spent thee more movie in what I am pretty sure is a nightgown/day wear the fact that they were able to transform it into quite a nice dress is quite an achievement.

i would agree that maybe some of the dolls dresses do look a little tacky like Belle and Cinderella but you have to admit they have done a pretty good job so far of the other princesses and I definitely think that there are much better dolls than some the hyped up frozen ones.

Personally for for me SQ Elsa is an amazing doll with the cape and her amazing dress. In terms of her dress the Harrods one is by far a lot more superior than the normal one due to the extra details on it eg more rhinestones, snowflakes etc.

I would say SQ Elsa is the nicest followed by Snow Gear Anna due to the detail and having the closest similarity to the movie and then Coro Anna and finally Coro Elsa. I just think Coro Elsa has a Calhoun look to her due to her bangs.
