What does it take or what is it that people really want in order to trade for the DLP - Pin Trading Night pins?? I have tired quite a few times by asking to trade in order of hoping to get a few that I like but I seem to not have any luck? People tell me they are rare pins, and that my traders are "way NOT good enough" to trade for those pins...(I felt offended...)

So...my question is what are people looking for mostly in order to trade for these pins?? I know some people are looking for other DLP- Pin Trading Night pins but I don't even own one.

I am looking for the Blue Fairy and Rapunzel DLP - Pin Trading Nights

I know they are LE 400 but still...I don't know what is it about these pins that make it impossible to claim or even try trading for them....after that recent comment stated above I am even afraid to ask to trade for them....

Any help/information/tips will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

If you ever figure it out, please let me know. I have a few of them and (perhaps foolishly) would love the whole set of them ... but I don't know what to trade for them either.

You might have to resort to buying them instead of trying to get someone to trade them to you. That's what I ended up having to do. Just keep in mind these pins won't be cheap. They are extremely popular right now, so you're either going to have to dish out some money or trade up for them.

I once asked a trader at DLR who had a TON of them what they had to do in order toget them (she was a local DLR trader). She told me that the French traders often will trade for DS.com LE100s (or more common 125s now) for each one of the DLRP PTN pins as they valued them similar and did not have access to them.

Now that DS.com no longer has 100s... No clue.

Hopefully I can provide some insight...

The Draw:
Many people want them for some of the same reasons you do. Many like the challenge of getting them since they are so far away. Others like them for the characters featured on the pin or since its one of the few consistent sets that Disney still produces.

The Challenge:
There's a slight bit of challenge first off to obtain the pins in the states because they are from Paris. Next, some of the events cost to get in and the traders wait a long time to purchase the pins. Most times, the PTN pins are sold out the night of. Some people are only interested in reselling and not trading, partially due to the fact that they usually sell well on Ebay.

My Experience:
In the past couple years, I've obtained 4 small and 1 jumbo PTN pins through trading. I was lucky to get the first 2 pins during the frenzy of the blue 10 cast chasers from last year. I was able to find a trader at a WDW PTN that traded 1 chaser for 1 lesser character DLRP PTN pin. This was just a bit of an oddity, but if you are able to catch a frenzy at the right time, it is usually beneficial. The other 2 were obtained from European traders visiting WDW PTNs and all they wanted were surprisingly just FL pins. I got one for 6 new hidden Mickeys.

Suggestions:
-Try your luck during a "frenzy" ie Alice event.
-Seek out Europeans during PTNs or other events.
-Try trading for less desirable characters then work your way up to the one you want.
-It's easier to trade a DLRP PTN for another rather than a non PTN pin for one.

Hope this helps!

This has been my experience as well. But they won't want the ho-hum ones that aren't as popular and usually go on sale, it is usually the good ones that they want. Most often ones that people want are the ones you wouldn't be willing to trade. I traded for very few of mine. I'd say I probably bought over 90% of mine. For the most part, I just found it was easier that way.

I was lucky enough at my very first pin trading event here in NJ . I met a pin trader that had just returned from the last event at DLPR . I really had nothing special, but she had a list of different LE Disney dog pins that she needed yet . I became her pin buddy, I was trading my pins, for pins she needed . I think I got her four different pins and I got my Tinkerbell dressed as a cowgirl pin trading pin from Paris . That was the Holy Grail I received that weekend .

I have been able to get a few but i have had to trade a few wdi pins for them,, like 2 to 1 for the smaller ones. for the jumbos they want market value worth in pins, so it may be 4 to 6 le 300s or lower. it is hit and miss depending on the trader and they want pins equal in value $$ wise for them as well. they want pins they cant get as easy as dlr or wdw or ds.com. they like dsf and wdi pins for them.

Yeah, they are hard to get. I traded My Pin 80134 for Pin 75768(Sebastian ptn) and I don't regret it since they are gorgeous pins, well made and great combination of colors. But I meant I had to give something good for it, my grail was Pin 58990(samba PTN) and I was able to traded for a LE 250 jumbo vinylmation and a wanted LE 300 event peter pan pin, but I am happy with the samba when I got, I love it. I recently bought Pin 79110 and another simba PTN(since I finally got mine through a trade I bought another one but forntrading not my collection), and they are both up for trade, I would trade any of them two for the Rey re PTN Paris or the Ariel, or anything that is highly wanted in my list.

So my best advise marcia is to:
1: if they are not your trails, stay away from them because most likely u will not be able to trade for them without trading something that u will trade for one of your grails.
2: if u really want them, well buying them will be the best option, that option doens't apply to me since I like to trade for my grails and most of my pins, but rally that is the easiest way, but not cheap at all.
3: what other people said, try to trade for the least wanted ones and work your way up to a more wanted one and so on.

Thank you everyone for your responses!! I just PM'ed a seller on the forums about the Pin 82793: DLP - Pin Trading Night - Rapunzel

It is $50 for the pin but I think it's worth it because I REALLY, REALLY WANT IT!!

So I am crossing my fingers that it is still available!!

OK here goes and yes I do trade them but rarely on a one for one basis. Most people who trade, do so at ebay values thus for the most recent pins I trade on a 2 for 1 basis for usual ptn and pte and 5 for 1 for jumbos that represents for me what I have to pay to get them for trade as I dont live in france and get them from others who do get them for me but charge me the going rate.
Older pins it depends on what you have and how much I might want it and if I have spares. Jumbos et all are all the same as above. The rest will here are some price examples
Jessica - $200
Chip and Dale original - $120
Alice et al - $100
Jimmeny - $350$
Stitch (last one ) $500 usually 350
Tink - $350

Most of the time I keep a list of regulars who get them automatically. I do have others for trade but most of the time the requests I get are good for a laugh - sorry. It is about availabilty and I am happy to talk sense with anyone out there who might want them if you do want to have that sort of conversation then email me on j.kasket@monkshood.fsbusiness.co.uk

No one really knows why this is a phenominan but it is and always has been. I am also prepared to sell if I have them available but first and rforemost I am a trader and have been for the last 11 years

Keep in mind that even though people usually go by ebay values, the price is still a bit subjective. For example, I got my Jessica for $125 and my Chip and Dale I gave up on trading for and bought it off ebay for around $65. Prices do fluctuate, so maybe they are at a high right now, but I think sometimes the "trading value" is a bit inflated on these which is why I ended up buying most of them. It was cheaper in the long run rather than trading at the higher values.

I have managed to trade for 2 of them! But the characters I collect are less desirable I think. I also find the newer the pin the easier it is to obtain. I do think it is easier to get them on the bay rather than trying to trade for them.
