Let's talk about something that's effecting our community for a moment:

I attended the Gala last weekend and during the pin talk, they very casually slipped in to the conversation that they have no more TNs planned for the rest of the year to boos. They mentioned they were trying to change that, but it seems it's not happening. I know a lot of people had speculated on this, but how does the community feel about it? Do you guys foresee a future where they charge to hold your space at the TN to purchase something and then use it towards goods, using magic bands or some other method? I would like to hear the differing opinions on this. Do you feel like trading is getting shafted or are you tired of the sharks and crowds?

They originally had trade nights in The Grand Floridian convention hall in WDW, then moved them to the very cramped space of the ESPN sports complex. I'm not sure about how they were run over in DLR.

Should you wish to voice your opinion about this matter, I suggest you contact merchandising and guest relations via email.

I think they think they dont make enough money to be worth wile not to mention the complaints all the time and the stealing and the sharks. I can see why it isnt fun for them. I will say there is a ton of ways to make more money than they do. Sell more food and drinks and pins DUH

i saw it coming. As for me a NJ girl who has access to 2 PTN in NJ a month i cant complain and when i fo to WDW at least 2 sat a month i also have acess to private run trading days. I think DL people will have to follow suit. Its just a shame cause you dont have the great PTN pins:sad:

I see Paris getting all the releases and events that they do, and I ask myself: 'Isn't just as crazy if not more over there to hold trading nights?' They have the best designs, and when I would like to trade something, anything with them, the average LE release won't cut it. It's the same with DSSH pins as well. I've been collecting for about ten years now, but I've only been trading for one, so it's not easy and this makes it even less easy.

I spoke to one of the ladies who took part in that session earlier on in the event. She said they had no more PTNs, but that it had nothing to do with the Frozen chaos. She made it seem like working out a location and a date was the problem. I gave her the chance to say PTNs were dead, but she stated they are working to get some set up and that they enjoy holding the events for us. Now there is obviously some amount of marketing there, so interpret what she told me as you wish.

I would really love to go to one. When I first moved to South Florida, they used to have pin trading nights at my local Disney store about once a month, and ever since they've stopped I've always wanted to go back, maybe to a larger one at WDW. But I can agree, I think that WDW is going to do whatever is the most profitable. I like DLPR's concept of having a ticketed event that's more like a social than it is a free-for-all like the pin nights at my Disney store were. I mean you could have themed pin parties in different venues all year round. Not like full-blown convention-like gatherings like the Gala, but more like the tea-party. I think it would be a good way for Disney to start getting back into doing more trading nights.

Disney Studio Store Hollywood does 2 a month.
The problem remains that WDW has absolutely nothing in store of official trading nights. We basically just have the park releases. I like the intimacy of all the DLR activities and the beauty of the DLP pins. We have some good designs, but we're lacking in as many releases.

Apparently all the remaining PTN pins Disney made for their now non-existent PTNs are being released as surprise releases for the rest of the year.

Well since CM have to be "volun told" they have to work pin events tells me they are tired of the self-righteousness that runs through the pin community.

I mean wouldn't you want to be in an air conditioned building during the day in Sept @ Epcot if you were having to work?

I agree with what Dawny said. Too much hassle with what little they make.

I don't believe the whole location/date thing (not shooting the messenger), but honestly, ESPN is dead a lot of the time, so I can't see where any dates would be conflicting. The resorts yes, ESPN, not so much.

The behavior of the people when there is a hot pin is nothing less than atrocious! If I were the powers that be running the event, that would have been it for me. I believe the wristband distribution could have been handled differently, on any of the releases, but they seem to want to stick to their guns, for the most part, on that one.

It doesn't surprise me in the least that the TN will cease to exist. I just wish they would have let us have one more (Simba & Stitch) instead of giving it to the event. But that's all over and done with now, so no more worrying about it.

We were thrilled to hear that they added the PTN pins to the event. We're DVC members, so we visit WDW once, maybe twice a year & our trip(s) have never coincided with a PTN. With one set from the Gala event being pulled & the mystery boxes not arriving in time, adding the PTNs was a great gesture on their part. Many of us attending this event would not have access to PTNs otherwise & it's next to impossible to trade for a PTN if you don't have another PTN of value to trade in return. Kudos to WDW for adding a little extra 'spark' to the RSP!!
