2014 Designer Dolls - Fairytale Collection Part II
I think that by new merch they just mean a restock. I really don't think that they'll release anymore things.

So my patience for the dolls is growing thin. I am just too excited! I need to distract myself somehow. So does anyone have any doll collecting horror stories about getting the any past Disney Store dolls in the store or off eBay?
This! :). I'm just so excited!

On another note, I was going to pick up one of the journals or mugs to save for Secret Santa, since I know how hard it is to get the merch after its gone. But I have no idea who I'd get for Secret Santa, so I don't know which character to get. Suggestions? Is this a silly idea? :)

How much merch did they do for the last set? I seem to remember they only had the mugs, journals, shirts, and lithos. Not sure what else they would release, tbh.

They also had note cards, lip gloss, nail polish, a wallet, cosmetic bag, Snow White costume for adults, and a Snow White purse.

I would say Aurora or Cinderella stuff, simply because they are the more popular ones!
Thank you, Orchestral! :)

I am still getting incredibly nervous for the Briar Rose release. I was looking through the designer couple thread for last year, and Ariel (last one released) sold out within like 17 minutes. My stomach is already twisting into a pretzel, 5 weeks in advance. :p On the other hand, I'm excited for Tiana's release (10 days to go! :) ), just because its my first LE doll release I'm actually going to watch, plus I'll be on here spreading pixie dust to those who do want her. ;).

Oh, I also forgot to ask how long the Fairytale couple merch stayed in stock last time? Was any still in stock by the time of Ariel release or afterwards? Thank you. :)

At my store, most of the merch was sold out by the time of the Ariel release. However, i did get the nail polish & lip gloss on sale in like March of this year. The journals, mugs, and notecards were nearly all gone by Ariels release.

That video was hilarious lol. Its so funny to see what happens when you put fairytale situations and put them in real life.

haha I know how you feel about the dolls. I am literally counting down the days till I can pick up aurora. And for the collecting doll horror story, I guess the only time is when I was bidding on a designer Snow White, and there was only 4 seconds left until the auction ends, so I thought that I was basically guaranteed to win, but then at the last second, I was outbid then the timer ended. But I found another one for a cheaper price and I bought that one instead, so it worked out.:p

For the people who have seen the dolls in person, how do they look? Anything that is different or stands out from the promo pictures?

Well, Cinderella's head was turned around quite a bit, but you could fix that. :). I think Cindy's face and outfit looked better in person than in promo pictures. I think that's about it.

The Limited Edition Disney merch is just lacking this year. There was more merch in the Art of Ariel (and more diversity of artists) collection and the first designer couple set. I don't know if they will release new merch. I hope they will but I'm not counting on it.

I agree, with the designer line the merchandise usually comes out first followed by the dolls so I doubt there will be any more merchandise. I also agree that this year the merchandise really is lacking, I wonder if that is a sign that the designer line is becoming less and less significant to the Disney Store line up. Maybe it is because it is an off expo year but even with the Villains back in 2012 they had note cards, make up and other apparel. This year I guess each character got their own clothes (each princess got a shirt and in Cinderella's case a jumper/sweater) but other than that they just had the pins, mugs and journals so it did seem rather thin.

This is why I think that unless they do something different next year and introduce new characters to the designer line then this year will probably be the final year for the designers which does seem unlikely as I find it hard to believe that Disney would not use next year being an expo year as a year to introduce Anna, Elsa and Merida into the designer line. Failure to do so would only mean the demise of the designer line. Plus they have used every opportunity they could to release Frozen merchandise, with the addition to the animator line (even though they first came out as toddlers only to have the box changed to an animator box), classic doll line and even to the parades in the park.

It really emphasises that Disney was not expecting them to be so popular and are now adding them to everything they can, so it would be odd for them not to use next years expo as an opportunity to continue the Frozen craze and reignite the hype over the designer dolls.

All I want is some form of doll line, designer or not, that gives homage to less marketed Disney characters. Characters like Megura, Esmeralda, Jane, Wendy and Alice for example. I would LOVE a doll line consisting of characters like that (especially Alice, Esmeralda, and Wendy). A designer line would be the perfect way to give those characters some time in the spotlight. I fully expect Anna and Elsa to get designer dolls next year and even though I am sick to death of Frozen, I am looking forward to seeing how they look. But I seriously hope the line Anna and Elsa are a part of consists of at least some of the characters I mentioned before.

I would absolutely be thrilled! - This is exactly what I and so many other collectors have been wanting for many years. I can imaging a designer Wendy doll...or even Wendy and Peter.. (the imagination goes wild!) lol

Yeah lol I have noticed a lot of people have been wanting a line similar to this. I seriously hope Disney releases a line like that soon. I love the princes and princesses, but give us something new already. I think that's why I think the villains line was so refreshing compared to what we usually get. I'm shocked that characters like Alice and Wendy haven't gotten limited edition dolls already as it is.

Alice did get a limited 17 inch one though.

I would really love some new characters in the Designer line. I adored the Designer fairies and hope new characters are added to it. I also really want some more unusual dolls that have never really been made like Fantasia Centaurettes and Fairies, also the Fantasia 2000 Sprite.

But there is one more princess Designer Collection I need Disney to Make: Designer Brides (they can use the Princes in there too if they want, but I really just want bridal Princesses).

This thread is so long I don't want to read every one lol is there a release day for the dolls yet? And do they get released in stores or online?

1. There's a search button on top. ;)
2. I think the list is on the disney store online website and blog. Search for designer fairytale and click on the banner image.

Doing a bridal line next year would be a bad idea for Disney, it would mean the end of the designer line, especially since they would just do the princesses again, I think most people just want to see different designer characters as opposed to the same characters in different concepts. It would not have been as bad had they not released the villains because then we would think that the designer line would just feature the princesses in different outfits but it was made pretty clear that by releasing the Villains that they are willing to branch outside of the princesses so now we expect more than just princesses every year.

People have been talking about this release for a while and this thread isn't very long, if you have read Twilight or Harry Potter or even 50 shades of Grey (if that is your sort of thing) then this thread is by no means a long read and if you haven't read a book in a while then maybe this is a good place to start. As mentioned by other members, there is a search function and there is also google and maybe go back 10 pages and read from there you should be able to find the information you are looking for.

lol Polaris this is a good response I get sooooo tired when I see people, just not limited to this forum but all, ask the same darn questions that have been asked and answered previously! At this point, if one does not know the release date of the dolls, then they don't really want them......

This.
It happens with every new doll release unfortunately. I remember feeling like pulling out my hair back when the Anna and Elsa dolls were to be released in Europe. The date had been official for Europe since January, but for months people kept asking. When I told them to look it up at google before asking the same question over and over again (since that question was asked around 4 times a day), they complained at said they had tried searching and that it took too long. It took me around 11.7 seconds to find the date on google (that included typing in the search term)...

On FB it's just annoying - especially since the FB group's main picture in the moment is the picture of the fairytale collection dolls from the disneystore site, where all dates are written on it, but still everyday people ask "when's the dolls released"… jesus…
"Do your own research" must be an extinct term for a lot of people nowadays. XD
