Okay. The title is kinda silly. Obviously we all have a bit of an art-nerd inside each of us, particularly because those on this website appreciate the artwork involved in these pins. But in this instance I'm talking about a very specific theme of pins: Pins which are based off of actual famous pieces of art.
For example, I am totally geeking out about this pin which I recently bought as a Christmas present for my mother:
When I saw it my jaw literally dropped. For those of you who don't recognize it right away, it's a spin-off of Edgar Degas' sculpture "Little Dancer of Fourteen Years"
Which is like one of my favorite pieces of art of all time. (And hers as well.)
I know that there are other "masterpiece" pins out there, (like the Tinker Bell starry night one *swoon*) but this was the first one based off of a sculpture that I've seen.
So my question is, does anyone on the website have a collection of these "masterpiece" pins, or does anyone else have a favorite piece of art that has been converted into a pin? (If you do, can you post the picture of the pin and the picture of the original work?) (If that's in DPF allowance. I think it is. If it isn't please let me know.)
Or if it hasn't, would you like it to be? (If you have a drawing, that would be awesome.)
What do you think it would look like? Lastly, are there any pins that you think DO deserve to be in a gallery, just because they're that beautiful? (Please post a picture if you can.)
Let's get this exhibit up and running!
