Happy New Year's Eve, everyone!

My husband & I are slowly drifting away from Disney pins...we just don't have the time to spend online & find that we're pretty happy with our collection...we just don't find many pins we want anymore. So, we have a pretty good size collection of traders that we plan to sell (PPid Dizfan). Aside from listing them online on DPF, does anyone have any other suggestions on where we could sell pins (trying to stay away from Ebay for now)? We also have a couple of items from the Reflections of Evil event (jumbo pin, posters & Passholder cell), that we plan to sell for cost, plus shipping). We'd still like to obtain some of the pins on our 'wants' but haven't been successful.

Thanks!
Debbie

I am going to bump this over to the general pin forum, as I think you might get a better response, as the Sales Forums are more for Selling the pins than looking for ideas, etc

Depends on whether you want to sell individually or as an entire lot. I'd start by pricing out individual pins and then selling as a lot once individual sales slow down. Bump up your sales thread once a day (that's all you can do according to the rules).

This is what I am doing. Sis & I are also slowly drifting away from pins and I'm in the midst of selling all of our traders right now :) I still have about 10 pages or so to list, plus some regular rack pins and PODMs. I'll probably do a game to get rid of some of the pins and some PODMs as well :)

Yup, my New Year's resolution is to sell all of my trader pins too.

I'm not leaving pins - I just can't trade for anything I still need so no point keeping the traders.

Thank you, Bill!!

Same here....we've purchased so many pins for trading. Here are a lot of awesome pins...just things we don't collect but thought would be really good traders...oh well :dunno:

Best of luck in selling your extras then if that's what you decide to do! :)

Thank you!! I hope to list them here tomorrow. I had a lot of fun with having a pin game back in August, but games don't seem to go over big, at least right now.

Pretty much have to have 30 spots or less for it to go quickly. 100 spots (that's what I had in my last game) took too long.

I always hate to see people selling off traders. I know that trading has really slowed down and now it it more buying and selling. But I have had a lot of years of trading fun. I hope you sell out quickly and can find what you are truly looking for!!!

That's sad to hear that trading's slowed down, especially since I'm only now getting into pin trading. :( Admittedly, I still haven't actually traded yet, as I'm waiting until I'm done with school.

Anyway, to reply to the first post, there's a pretty big pin trading/selling community on Instagram. That's how I discovered online pin trading. :)

Sad to see names I know selling off their traders. I understand why, but still sad. I'm afraid that since the other people took over at pp, everyone went over to FB to buy, sell and sometimes trade, since it's so much easier than trying to deal with the owners and the 'upgraded' pin site.

Either way, I wish you much luck and you might want to check out some of FB's pin pages. Lots of activity there, just read their rules, each is different about selling.

Its a bit sad but I think Disney will stop supporting CM trading soon, it seems only a matter of time. Cloisonne Pin Trading will probably continue to be sold but yeah, the lack of any events and the discussion of attitudes among collectors has been very disheartening. I don't really have much traders now but then again, I have a small binder with my keepers and a couple of CM lanyards full of hidden mickeys I'll keep. Still waiting to get my grail until I kick the bucket so to speak...

Thinking about selling all of our traders

Same here, I've been selling my traders and some of my collection. I just can't compete with secondary market prices. It's just not as much fun as it once was when pin trading was first introduced. No more trading want to trade ratio or LE for LE.
We lost Disney Auction, Disney Shopping, LE Disney Store pins ( except Designer pins) and now pin events are non existent. Except for pin events outside of Disney. Just not worth the effort.

Pretty gloomy thread here. Seems that 2015 is off to a bad start as some old time "names" are throwing in the towel. I have to admit that with postage costs, a terrible Pinpics interface for Trading (and the lack of another place to go to), and a growing but still questionable reliable place for Trading on the Social media sites - there is not too much to be happy about.

ODPT still show November pins on the banner page, and the "Disney Pin store" site is down to 4 pins as of today. No real Events posted or mentioned for 2015, and the Annual pIn Event in September has a very generic theme (so far).

I will hang in there throughout 2015 BUT I can see why many folks are calling it quits.

^ Well, as I said, I'm not quitting pins as long as I can afford to stay in - but with less than 10 pins on my wants (almost everything newer is in the process of acquisition - just need those older pins I'm missing) - half of which are framed sets and none of which are being *actively* traded, it's pointless to hang onto over 100 traders when I can't trade them and they could find good homes in people's collections and they would pay for some of my bills right now.

So I'm not giving up pins - I'm just giving up having traders I don't need that someone else would love to own - IF I can get them sold! :)

Hobbies change, but if you enjoy something it should continue to make you happy. I love looking out for new pins that fit my collection. I don't expect that to change.:tigger:

Also in the selling off of traders boat after amassing a collecting and trading since 2005. The hobby has changed for sure and I think there are a lot of factors that led to it, loss of both Disney Auctions Disneystore.com LE pins every week, changes at pinpics, the whole DSF thing, shift to social media sites as collecting and trading means, and no more Pin Trading Nights. I'm not ready to start selling off my collection but one of my New Year's resolutions is to take photos and start selling off all of my traders as I just don't trade anymore and can use that money for something else.

I can certainly understand when you've been collecting a while you're wants get rarer and harder to find , as an example the Jafar spinner in my signature is going to be virtually impossible for me to trade for as it's simply too rare . Since I don't live near a park (and I have to work the DSUK release day) finding anything anyone actually wants isn't easy but it's possible .
The massive positive for me is that I've made a lot of friends through the trading from all around the globe . So I'll always keep a few traders just in case .

I am so sorry everyone....I didn't intend for this thread to bring anyone down or encourage them to jump ship from pin trading. We still hope to trade here & there and because we have enjoyed some trading events at WDW, we'll Likely still go to some events....especially to see everyone. We've been lucky to collect so many wonderful pins, but trading just isn't the same anymore for us. It doesn't make sense for us to keep all of our traders. We'd rather have them in the collection of someone who will enjoy them. We'll still be around!

Happy New Year!
Debbie & Dan

That Jafar spinner doesn't show up often and when it does it is massively expensive :P

Until pin trading gets back to the core of actually trading for fun instead of profit it seems like more and more people will sell of their traders. Since I don't live near a park I have to get my trading fix any way I can. I am sorry but buying pins is not as much fun as trading. So I will still be trading until I can't do it any longer because I am so decrepit I can't get the pin backs off. There is just something special about trading you can't get any other way. Big trades are a blast to pull off.

Don't forget pin trading is supposed to be fun.

Yes! I agree with David ... not gonna quit pin trading until I'm too old to understand what they are . I've been collecting for 28 years or so and I've been trading for almost 14 years. I love "meeting" people through pin trading and I've made some FANTASTIC friends through this mad-cap hobby! I've seen the ebb and flow of trading and it seems to be on the "slow down" mode again. BUT I have faith that it will come back around again! I didn't trade for almost 2 years while having serious health issues and didn't purchase or acquire any newer pins for more like 3-4 years. When I was finally able to get back to Disneyland (I live in Northern California), my pins were much more interesting to traders. I was stunned ... I thought to myself "they're old," but lots of people were interested in what I had to trade lol! Many of the OE pins I collected a while back have NOT been remade by Disney ... guess that's why some people find them more interesting. I miss Disney Auctions and the GOOD days of DisneyShopping.com! but I'm gonna hang in here for a while longer :x: . Wishing you all the best luck in whatever you decide to do! Take care, *bjr
