Pin Pics used to E-mail you when someone filed a trade request. I got a trade rquest in my Pin Pic inbox, but no E-mail. If you trade (or want to trade) on Pin Pics you should check your ibox regularly.

I got e-mail notifications in March '15 from them. I was never able to complete a trade using PinPics until they changed to the (old) new format. I can't figure how it works since they've changed it again.

I get emails most of the time, and a complete ta list via pp's website. I delete 99% of them. And to those who say I should reply to all of them, sorry, I'm not going to take the time to say no to someone who offers a current rack pin for a BatB PODM. Yes, happens almost every day.

And I just read another thread saying the op was reprimanded by pinpics for using the word 'crap', I won't be using their internal messaging system since they are reading your personal messages.

So I have some knowledge about this topic since I asked about it. The problem with sending out mass emails is some of the service providers started sending everything to spam and not delivering them at all. The solution was to try and keep things in house and avoid that issue. Of course people would quit looking at their inboxes for long periods of time so that became a problem. So I was told they had an opt in option for those who wanted to receive emails could. If you did not sign up for this option then at the moment you are locked out of it. The people who didn't opt in won't have their emails delivered to you. You can still look at your inbox on pinpics and they are there. The have done a lot of work to update the in house messaging system and it is working much better. Although they have been battling a glitch that has been sending auto reply messages even though the message went through. It appears they now have that fixed.

With the limited amount of people working with the site right now I doubt they have time to read people's emails. I am guessing that somebody complained about the type of language that was being used. We all get frustrated with hidden mickey offer for high end pins. That has been a complaint as long as I have used pinpics (about 14 years). Some of them are newbies who don't know any better, but I have also received them from people who have been around long enough to know they are not making a fair offer. I am guessing they are fishing hoping to get the better end of a deal with a newbie.

I have been a big critic of the new pinpics, but I do see they are trying to get it fixed up and working the way it should. I have seen a lot of new stuff added that works for me and I have been able to figure out how to use it. I had to be dragged kicking and screaming, but I do see the changes they have done and I can work with that. I am waiting to see what is next.

I wanted to add a couple of words since David addressed something I mentioned. (My fault, I should have added more than I did--I spoke in haste and anger). Besides pinpics maybe or maybe not reading one's messages at pinpics, replying to a TA is still a royal pain, as it now copy and pastes the whole TA offer in the reply. You can't delete it. So one has to scroll thru the entire TA to make a reply/or acceptance. I am glad that I do receive mostly emails to my AOL acct, even if they are horribly lopsided in the other traders favor (can't blame anyone for that, other than the sender).

Also, if you have a pin(s) stolen, then report it to pinpics, and they take action, know they shut that whole conversation down and you can't access or see any of your messages between the 2 parties. Nor will they let you, if you ask.

While they have made improvements in several departments (I don't pay for the premium, so I can't speak for any of that), they still have a ways to go to get back to what the old pinpics once was.

I agree they have a way to go to get back to what the old site held dear for many of us. That being said, I see changes happening. Are they all perfect, no, but they are trying to get back to what we all used to treasure. I have replied to a couple of messages the last couple of days and now you can reply at the top of the pm so you no longer have to scroll down.

Are they still doing the premium packages? I have not heard or seen anything about that in a long time.

I just assumed they were..lol Maybe they don't any longer. I don't read any of their site. Just add or remove wants/trades. (and delete all the TAs out of the message box--I only read the ones sent to my personal email address).

Ooooh, remember the days where the first thing you did when you woke up was check for TA emails hoping to get an accept in before the others?? Pinpics ruined it. They created the social media storm that pin trading is now. It used to be email and screennames. Now it's facebook & instagram pages.

I actually like that the offer is copied into the message by default (like any email). For a while there it *wasn't*, and I was copying and pasting the relevant bits in by hand, so that the person would have context of what I was replying to.

I still send out trade requests and get the occasional reply. (LuvSimba, if you get requests from vixyish, those are from me.) :)

...by the way, has anyone successfully used the "who can I trade with" option? In theory it shows you who has the pin you're looking for and what you have that's on their wants, so you can offer multiple pins. But I just tried it, and it's not showing me my trades that they want, it's showing me their trades that *I* want.

Me too. It worked for a while when it was introduced, but then it stopped.

I can't use the TA at all! I've tried sending out a few requests only to get emails that say something like user cannot be contacted or that there is a problem with my email address. I got my first request from a member a few weeks ago and I can't reply to them AT ALL. So, if I'm looking to trade I'll look for people's names here on pin pics to see if I have anything to trade (for example, I looked you up docfish2u and had a couple of matches but I'm not sure if you are still looking for them).

And I second the complaint that they do not have a lot of pins listed. I can't find, for the life of me, the WDI Alice in Wonderland pins they surprise released earlier this year! Unless I'm blind and can't find them.

I am still getting e-mail notifications of PinPic requests as late as yesterday. Sometimes they are a little behind to what is in your inbox I am noticing, but should not be that long a delay. I am liking the fact that I can respond directly now (like the old days), instead of having to log in and use their e-mail system

You're not blind; you're correct that they aren't on there. It took forever for the BatB puzzle pieces to get up there too.

Sadly, that is what happens when you anger a whole lot of people. A lot of users who used to add pins and photos on a volunteer basis no longer want to give their time and effort to the site. I still use the site because it's useful for some things, but I'm still angry enough at what they did to Ethanwa's site that I'm no longer willing to help them out by volunteering my time and photos.

The trade assist for sending multi pin options doesn't work for me either, never has.
I do get emails though and I never opted in for it. It just happened, but I don't always get them. Like maybe three of five for the day will go through. ;p

Sometimes change is hard to accept and yes, Pinpics is not the same as it used to be. I forced myself to use the new version knowing the old one would disappear. There were things I missed but also new things I liked about the new version. I feel some people are so bitter, they refuse to even try the new version. It does need work, I totally agree but it's still a good database with lots of helpful information.

I regularly update my wants, trades and collections. I browse looking to see who might have a pin I want or look to see who wants one of my pins.

The one thing I would like to see happen is for Pinpics to send notices to inactive account holders. If there has been no activity for say two years, then send a notice that their account will be deleted. Having only active members will make the trade/want ratio more accurate. ( This subject was talked about in another post. )

I encourage everyone to give Pinpics a try again. It may not be perfect but improvements are being made.

Check your inboxes everyone!! You never know, I may have sent you a trade request. :)
