DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion
Am I the only one looking at Jafar and thinking that he's a rip off?

I mean.... what exactly did they do different with this doll? I love the staff, and the squished headwear is okay... But his clothes look so plain. I mean... We got that one embroidered panel but it doesn't wrap to the back! The bottom looks very simple and plain and so does the cape.... It's like we went from lavish thought out details to Disney saying "Eh... Just release the doll, it'll sell out". Remember Maleficent and how she had embroidery all over her clothes?

Same with Aladdin.... His vest is impressive but this doll was just a horrible choice. They should have gone with Prince Ali. It just doesn't make sense to me! Compare Prince Phillip with Aladdin.... One looks amazing and the other just looks meh...

Well for jafar, I think he's pretty decent. I think they probably didn't want to embroider the lower half of his clothes or it might look too feminine like I guess it would resemble more of a dress, even though that's what it is basically:lol: Aladdin I think looks pretty good, I guess they could have don his prince Ali outfit, but when he's wearing that outfit he's basically lying that he's a prince and even feels guilty about it. I guess it could have been done, but his street rat clothes are more fitting to him in my opinion. What I like is the fabric choices for his clothes. His vest is nicely detailed, and his pants look like they have this nice texture to it that makes it feel more special as opposed if they did plain satin. For me personally, I like dolls with interesting embroidery and fabric besides satin.

Nah, it wasn't just you. Despite not wanting to get Jafar, it doesn't mean I didn't take a look at him. And, yes, I think he's very plain in appearance. Even if they didn't want to embroider his entire robe, you would think they'd have done something to the cape rather than just flat material.

I disagree about Aladdin, but only because I like that they didn't feel limited to JUST his Prince Ali ensemble. Don't get me wrong, the princely get up would have been incredible, but I confess that I would want it to look more like the Broadway adaption of the outfit than the film version, lol. So I'm glad they wen the way they did. And I even like the flyaway hair - perfect for an orphan boy living on the streets of Agrabah.

I wonder if they went with street rat clothes as that's what he wears in the scene with Slave Jasmine... so all 3 can be posed together?

I think they could at least have done an embroidered border on his robes, that's not at all out of place on men's attire in the middle east

I know 3 Red Jasmines who Didn't go to scalpers... they went to my friends! They camped out for around 16 hours total (while one was ill) and they managed to get the dolls they wanted except for the OUAT dolls... Jasmine looks so stunning in the photos she took, I will ask if I can repost here

i did not want to go to the blog with all the insane doll releases i think everybody now has accepted that disney is one weird something. with all the dolls i am so glad i only collect 17 inch dolls. i love love love the Frozen Fever dolls and that we get 1000 in europa thank you disney for listening!! aladdin looks so cute with abu i am glad he is not in his sultan outfit. jafar oh well a little red sparkle would be nice but he looks great in his box with his magic stick thing and stupid bird Iago damn i hate that bird lol. well red jasmine, her outfit is so goddamn pretty with sparkle and beads. but i am not going to pay 1000 for her so guess she just has to wait. green jasmine her face looks better i don't know why. i just pray for no harrods Frozen Fever set.

I think in general the sleeping beauty release was better the Aladdin dolls are not as nice, like you said Al isn't as detailed as phillip and Jafar lacks the detail that Maleficent had! Even Jasmine was a little plain.
In comparison the Frozen fever dolls are so so detailed. That said I do like Jafar

Jafar looks great and I will buy him. Bit sad about Red J but maybe they'll make Jafar and her as designer ones?

How difficult is it ordering off a mobile device/tablet? I'll be traveling to work when both doll releases come out, but I'm a bit wary as I've never not ordered from a computer before.

GlassParasol it can be stressful if I am honest! Some time the page goes down, and by the time it's back up the item is sold out, I would say just keep calm and have patience and keep this website open for up dates in a separate window!

I agree and I think it is because of the way her hair is styled.

Thanks very much, good idea about keeping here open. :) I thought it might be stressful, unfortunately I've no other choice. :(

I am in the same position, I work in a school so have no chance getting to a store, that said my closest store that sells dolls is over an hour away and I don't drive.

I have always ordered online since coronation Elsa to Aurora... And have always had no trouble. In fact sometimes I've had much better luck on a tablet... My mom had been refreshing ticket master for hours on her laptop trying to get tickets that had just been released to the public, and I in a matter of fifteen minutes got tickets, when she'd been trying for hours...

im not sure if it's my area or something to do with servers but as long as where you stay has decent wifi you should be fine. Also visit here because we post links and make sure to sign in + pre enter payment info...

I'm shopping the Lilly Pulitzer sale tomorrow via iPad. :daisy:

Can I ask a maybe silly question? On the day of the doll release (I'm interested in Elsa/Hans and Frozen Fever Elsa), where would the web address be posted up, and what time would it be posted up at? I live in the UK, so it would be that address I'd be looking for.

As much as I'd like to get both Aladdin and Jafar, I think i'm going to have to go for just Jafar this time ... especially with the Hero's and Villains coming out. I'm sure this might be hard to predict but do you think Aladdin will go for a lot of money on eBay after the initial sell out? I have both Prince Phillip and Kristoff and really, they aren't selling for much more than retail from the looks of it - I wonder if Aladdin will be different??

Considering most people hate how Aladdin looks, I don't think he will sell for much more than retail.

My plan is to not buy Aladdin and Jafar and save that money for Frozen Fever Anna and Elsa. I feel like I can get them easily for around retail or slightly more than retail, after the holidays once my wallet has recuperated from the DFDC and Frozen Fever dolls as well as the tsum tsums. I know I can't wait on Anna and Elsa because if I don't get them now, I'll never get them for around retail. Plus I much prefer how Frozen Fever Anna and Elsa look.

I am so overwhelmed with all these wonderful dolls being released this year... And so nervous, because I will have to buy them off the UK site... Could someone please tell me where the early links for the UK will be posted? Thank you! <3

Oh, that's great news. :) Maybe there's hope after all, it's good you've always been able to order things smoothly. Yes, I'll make sure to have everything set up also. Thanks! :) hope your sale went well!

OMG I just finished shopping the sale! I told myself I was only going to purchase things I KNOW fit me since there are no returns, but I ended up buying 18 items!!! I had much better luck shopping on the app than on my laptop. :)

On a doll-related note...has anyone purchased Red Slave Jasmine yet? I want her really bad but I am waiting a little longer to see if the prices drop. I want to pay around $500-$650 for her at the most...but I don't want to wait and have the prices go up instead of down. I can't decide if I should raise my budget for her or not...

My bank account has taken some serious hits today but I found Ariel on eBay for only $364! I passed on one almost that same price months back and have been stalking eBay waiting for something below the high $400. I'm sooooo happy.

It went great, I was #6,000 in line (they do a line system which assigns your IP address a place in line...) I opened the site on my phone literally a minute or two later & it was at 33000. I had to wait 30 minutes before I could shop & unfortunately the scarf I wanted sold out but other than that I got a lot of cute stuff for great prices. :daisy:
