Heroes & villains collection first look
So less than a week for Snow! I'm trying for all the dolls but snow is the one I'm most unsure about! Gunna get her anyway to have a set but all the in store pics look bad- her hair! For those who have seen her, is she better in person?

I didn't think I was going to get to go to the Disney Store this past weekend, but we managed to make a quick trip in, and the outlet store I go to did indeed have the mugs! I just got Peter, Snow, and Ariel... they look amazing!

I also think I've finally come to a decision about which dolls to get. I'm limiting myself to 2 sets... Peter is a must, and I was dead set on Ariel, so I booked those 2 days off work. But I've fallen in love with the Snow set, and now I'm torn between Snow and Ariel. So I've decided to "let fate decide", so to speak. I'll be at work with only a so-so wifi connection when Snow is released, so I'm going to try for her. If that doesn't work, then Ariel is the winner.

I saw her at my store, and her hair looked pretty bad. If you debox dolls, you could easily fix it. But if you aren't a deboxer, it didn't look that nice.

Welp, turns out that I am probably not going to go for Peter and Hook day one. I probably won't have the money on release day anyways, but I don't see them selling out very quickly and they will probably not go for much on the secondary market.

Really? The Snow in my store had amazing hair. Could be just a difference between different dolls or something.
The Snow doll at my store had her hair in her face and it just looked a mess. The doll is super cute but it'll be a hit or miss if there is something wrong with it. I got the Snow White/Prince, Flynn/Rapunzel, and Ariel/Eric set in the first couple line and I had to debox Rapunzel/Flynn & Ariel/Eric to fix their hair and outfits. The quality control on these dolls is a hit or miss.

It's so odd that the Snow/Hag set is as popular as it is. Don't get me wrong though, as I think they look really great. I just expected the Elsa/Hans set to be the most popular based on Frozen's popularity alone.

I was thinking the same thing, especially since the Elsa in the set is so close to the 17'' version. I still think it will be the fastest to sell out, but I expected a lot more conversation about it than is showing up.

Based on overall appearance, I would say Rapunzel/Mother Gothel is the most well-done, but in design Snow White/Hag wins hands down. The more I look at that set the more I just love all the originality in both dolls' outfits and also just how great their face sculpts came out!! :) Snow's hair seems to be the only concern.

I think a lot of people are looking forward to to the Elsa set, but I think there's just less to say about it. If I had to pick only one set it'd be Elsa hands down because I missed out on the original 17" and want a collectible iconic SQ Elsa doll. There just isn't much else to say about it. I was extremely happy to see they used that version so close to the original, but honestly, there's nothing all that exciting about it. I absolutely love this Snow White. There's so much detail and interest in the set, even down to the choice of using the hag instead of Evil Queen. Maybe one day they'll do something totally different and unexpected like that with the Frozen dolls. I think the Frozen Fever dolls kind of come close to achieving that, but still, it's just more interesting to see something designed so far from anything we've ever seen, like with Snow White. It's like with the D23 Elsa set... I'd like to have that set, but I have the 17" coronation Elsa, so I don't feel I'm really missing out on it by not getting it (especially when there are so many dolls coming out). Also, there's not much to say about the dress since it's been seen before. If they did an SQ Elsa in another color for D23, like white or something, I think there'd be a lot of conversation about it as people would be excited and want to share their opinions on the new outfit.

As far as Snow White's hair, I think that's a problem that has come up with the collectible dolls in every set. There's always some with hair that's a little off. I remember a lot of people complaining about the Cinderella in the couples set they received last year. Quite a few had complaints about the way their set was posed, and/or the way the hair was set. Some aren't going to be perfect, and a few are probably going to be pretty bad. Mine was absolutely perfect. I really lucked out. It's my favorite of the couple sets I have. I think if you order online it's just a luck of the draw on what you get, and hopefully nothing happens to the doll during shipping to make it worse. I usually have to order online since the nearest Disney store is about an hour away. I imagine I'm going to get a bad set eventually.

This will be my first Snow White doll (woo-hoo! :)), but from the photos I've seen of the other versions, it seems as if Snow White dolls always tend to have hair problems. Nearly all of the 17" SW dolls I've seen have issues with her hair sticking up and looking weird, and I've seen a lot of the designer SW couples with hair problems too. Snow White needs a new stylist! LOL

I guess I'm the only one who like Ariel's top. I find it cute and refreshing, since if they made actual plastic shells, it might look like the 17in doll.

My only real complaint about Ariel's top is how it hangs over the tail, but it doesn't make me hate the doll. I wouldn't have any complaint at all if the top were fitted more like a body suit under the tail, or even one piece with the tail. I just think it's a little weird because it looks like a top, but because it's nude it's like it's not really supposed to be there, so it's kind of distracting to me to see it how it connects with the tail. It's common for mermaid dolls to have a nude top, but I've never seen one that hung over the tail. I get why they did it because of the artwork. I still think the set is very nice overall and worth getting. It's just not my favorite of the series. I like the drawing quite a bit. It's the only one that I like the art better than the doll itself.

Yes I think that's the problem is short hair on dolls is more difficult to tame and position. as for the elsa set while its more ornate than the classic doll I don't think it comes any where near the 17'' version of course some details are similar but it doesn't have the majesty like the 17''. maybe im bias but theres just nothing like that doll in my eyes. not even the Harrods because I think its so over done. the original is just right in my eyes.

AGREED! I know Disney probably envisioned the Harrods version to be the ultimate Elsa doll, but she is just too glittery and overdone for me personally. She almost looks purple from just how shiny they made her skin, and I also don't like that her eye makeup is completely overdone in the Harrods version when in the film it is so nice and natural. I think the only aspect of Harrods Elsa that outdoes the LE 2500 edition is her dress-the embroidery patterns on her cape are absolutely incredible! :)

As for the DFDC version, I think Elsa looks amazing and will be great for any collectors who can't or won't go to eBay for the 17'' version, and not to mention Hans looks pretty outstanding as well.

I think the harrods Elsa is the ultimate Elsa doll. I really love everything about, even the pearly shine because it works for Elsa during that part of the film, unlike the purple Elsa where she had tinsel and shine so it gave her a cheaper appearance. And I absolutely love how harrods gave Elsa dramatic eye makeup. The only thing I find unfair though is that harrods made Elsa look more film accurate costume wise, will Disney store cut corners with their regular Elsa, and how even the Elsa classic doll had more details on her cape than the le version. The thing that harrods or Disney store should have done to their le Elsas is make the cape out of tulle, and embroider snowflakes on it to give it that more flowy look like in the movie. Rant over, lol.

Granted all that but I am glad the elsa set looked better in person I was very underwhelmed when I saw the first few photos of her.

I think both the original 17" Elsa and the Harrods Elsa are lovely dolls, but I prefer the original just a tiny bit more. I like that they decided to make the skin on the Harrods Elsa pearlized to add to her overall cold/frosted look, and it really gives the impression that she is colder than what a normal human being would be able to handle without freezing to death, but it comes across as just a little too purple for me. I don't think the designer Elsa can even compare to those amazing original dolls, but I do like that they based her design off of them. She has grown on me a lot since her initial reveal, and I have even considered trying to go for her a time or two.

Designer Elsa is alright I guess, I like the new face mold. What they could really improve on is her cape. It could be embroidered, it could be more sheer, and it definitely could be more lightweight to make it flow like in the movie.

As a Hans collector I'm hoping the sheer amount of Doll releases will deter some people from going for the designer set, this will be my first foray into dolls so hopefully I can get it in store and I won't have to worry about staying up and praying to get them online.

I know its still a hot ticket item but since there so many versions of Elsa out there already, shouldn't people be more interested in the Frozen Fever release the following week?

First of all the LE Elsa is the nicest Elsa doll(sq reg) but the designer one is beautiful and pretty similar I think if I was a new collector I would get the designer doll over buying the 17inch on the secondary market. Hate the Harrods elsa though! Personally the one thing I dislike about the Le elsa is the embroidery, to me emboridary is overdone on these dolls and on Elaa gives the apperance of a heavy material and not lightweight like her Cape should be- in this aspect I prefer the designer elsa Cape. The FF elsa imo is the nicest elsa doll.

I personally love dolls with a lot of embroidery, that's what I love about my le Aurora doll! The regular le Elsa is stunning from what I've seen from pictures, but in my honest opinion, I think the harrods version surpasses her. They added all the details that were missing in the regular le such as the missing cape details, and extra snowflakes. I just like the texture of embroidered fabric I guess.

If its Frozen, then there is always going to be a demand for it lol. But I do think it will be easier to get the designer set than it will be to get the Frozen Fever dolls. The Frozen dolls gained a lot more hype where they had such a sudden reveal, and the 17" dolls are more popular anyways. Plus more people seem to want the D23 variant over the standard version anyways. I think your only real competition that day will be hardcore Frozen collectors and Elsa and Hans shippers.
