DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion
I agree with everyone, that's a fair price, and right now you probably have less competition. I expect it to up closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas. Do you know how to do an advance search on Ebay? I'd recommend doing that and seeing completed listings and then sold listings. It looks like that's about the high end of the going price recently, but it looks like she's not really selling all the time. You could probably do a little better, but it seems quite fair with shipping, and maybe not worth the hassle to try to save a bit more if you spend a lot of time on it. Personally, it may sound cutthroat, but I'd try to find an "or best offer" first and offer a little less than average (factoring in shipping) since there's a number of them not selling. I've seen a few going for the $120's. Of course, it might be worth paying more from a better seller.

I'd like to get her for Christmas but I was worried about the Christmas rush. I don't want to spend more than I should but I also don't want to be cheap and end up with a lower-quality doll or one of those listings where they back out because they didn't make as much as they wanted. Thanks for the advice!

I am absolutely beyond ecstatic! My hubby bought me Red Jasmine for our one year wedding anniversary yesterday! We got married at Disney World so to get something Disney related made it even more special! Plus she's my favorite princess. She's gorgeous and has the most perfect hair. My hubby did amazing! <3

That's so sweet!! Was it a total surprise? *heart eyes*

It was a total surprise! I had no idea he got her for me! Apparently she was hiding at my parent's for a while. I was so surprised I dropped her on the bed when I unwrapped her and saw it was Red Jasmine!

Quick question for my fellow doll collectors. Would D23 Red Jasmine for Purple Rapunzel be a fair trade? I have the Red Jasmine (I ended up with an extra in a weird set of events), and Purple Punzie is currently my dream. :anxious:

You have an extra, and Rap is your grail. I think the deal is great!

Red Jasmine seems like it's going for a bit more, but it sounds fair right now. The only thing is Jasmine will likely be worth more long term given the low edition size, but if it gets you your grail it seems a good choice since you have the extra and it'll make you happiest. I'd just recommend being sure to get all the details on the Rapunzel doll to make sure it's not flawed in anyway. Also, not sure how you're trading, but please be sure you're protected as possible. Personally, I'd likely hang on to Jasmine if I had one, but I have a lot of patience. Do what's going to make you happy and don't look back. Good luck. :)

I should probably clarify that I haven't actually set up a trade yet. It's just an idea that I have been toying with, since I want Purple Rapunzel so badly. But if I do decide to go that route, I will do so very carefully. I have considered just holding on to my extra Jasmine for a while, and I don't hate the idea (she is so pretty!). It's just a super weird situation. I'd consider selling and just buying Rapunzel, but I'd feel really guilty for selling her for her current going rate (even though I did pay market price for my extra when she came out). My inner collector hates paying high prices, so it's hard to imagine selling at that rate. It doesn't seem right. :x

Aww! What an amazing surprise and a devastatingly lovely hubby! Congratulations on your anniversary and such a gorgeous doll :D

I would disagree that Jasmine would be worth more in the long term. While there is a lower LE size for Red Slave Jasmine (versus the thousands for purple Rapunzel), more people prefer Rapunzel to Jasmine. Right now, Jasmine is going for higher prices (started out high right after D23, tapered down a bit where you could get one for $700-800 shipped) and have again surged, more likely due to the release of the Wedding Set (which right now, you can get for 2x the retail price).

Personally, if I had a Purple Rapunzel (even a spare), I would keep her for a different doll (like Snow White, lol.)

If I were in your situation, I would probably try to find someone I know always wanted her, and offer her for a little less than she's going for. I assume that's still more than you paid for her. So, you make a bit of a profit and the other person gets her for a bit of a deal. Win-win? Although difficult to do outside the protection of eBay. If you really know them well though, it is unlikely to be a problem.

Trading for another doll of currently equal value seems very fair as well. Nobody can predict the future prices with certainty anyway, and if you're not planning to sell the doll you receive it doesn't totally matter if one of them ends up going for more in the future than the other. Again though I don't know how trades are done safely unless you know the person well.

Nice! Congratulations! It's always nice when that perfect gift comes through out of the blue. :)

Quick question, what credit/ debit card have people in Europe used to purchase from the US Disney store? I'll be trying for FF Anna and Elsa on the US site if I have no luck on the UK one but when I tried to use I think PayPal or my debit card for the Merida/Elinor pre-order it was rejected. Thanks in advance :)

I really can't wait! But now I have something else to worry about, since your store got the display already, I'm worried that other stores will have their displays too, and other people will be more aware about the dolls, especially scalpers. Oh well, how much prettier does Elsa look in person?

I can't wait to see pictures! I don't plan on getting them, but I have a feeling that turning them down is going to be reeeeaaaaalllly hard once I see in-store pictures!

Imagine, these dolls are already gorgeous with online photos, imagine in person!

Oh god don't make me think about that! XD I don't need them and I probably can't get them anyways so I don't even wanna think about how beautiful they will be! But I wish you all the luck on getting your Elsa. She seems to be your most anticipated doll release of this year!

Well my favorite color is green and so I'm a little bit biased...

She is my most anticipated doll release of the year! Of course I'm still waiting for another Snow White but still! One way or another I'm getting Elsa at my Disney store, even if it kills me lol!

I am tempted to start collecting these LE dolls but I wish they weren't $140 a pop.

I have to sacrifice a good chunk of my Disney budget for next month to afford these. I also had to resist Ariel and Ursula when I went into work today. Which was really hard because there was one I really liked from the ones we had left over. Collecting pins and dolls is hard, and dolls replaced my vinylmation habit when they got rid of trading in the parks.
