DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion
My Jafar has shipped too, although they charged me twice because I also ordered something else, they split up the order and shipped things separately. I called and it has not been finalized with the bank yet but it's supposed to be fixed when the transaction goes through, uug lol

They did basically the same thing with my last order. They charge the full amount to ensure you have the funds, and then are supposed to credit anything not shipped and just charge what they ship. They held the full amount from my account and then charged me again for what they shipped. It took several business day for the difference to be credited. I can understand somewhat why they do what they do, but the credit needs to come the same day so no more than the agreed amount is taken on any day. I complained because I didn't see how they could justify holding more than I agreed to pay. I know they were going to credit me, but it took several days. I'm sure that could cause some people a hardship or to overdraft. I continued to complain, but customer service was no help. They kept saying someone in billing would get back to me. They explained it, but I already told them I understood what they were doing and why they were doing it. My problem was they should not hold more funds than I agreed to pay. I got nowhere with them and gave up. It still ticks me off on principle, but they clearly don't care and think they can do whatever they want. Sadly it's true. I'm still spending a boatload of money with them.

They have just done this with an order I placed (not-doll related) recently. The item was shipped out the very next day after I ordered it so they could have used the same authorization code, but instead they placed a whole new charge. This was another reason I didn't do the preorder of the designer set this year. Last year, they placed a charge when I pre-ordered, another about a week or two before they shipped them out, and then yet another when they shipped. I had to call them and force them to drop the second authorization because it was still on my card around the ship date and I would have had an overdraft on my card when they charged the third time.

Thats insane. I thought maybe it only happened to me, but obviously it's something they do. It isn't right though. I got the same explanations. Since I had two items and they shipped separately, they billed separately - but the SAME amount. Even though it was processing, my bank holds the full amounts until they correct it. Luckily it is fixed today, but they need fix that system.

Just a suggestion, but why don't you use a credit card instead of a debit card or PayPal so that it doesn't link to a bank.

I use a credit card and it still takes away from the credit balance. If you have two charges for something like the preorder designer set at the same time, that's a rather huge decrease in your available credit.

Question: Do you guys think $150 shipped is a good price for the live action Cinderella? I'm kicking myself because I missed an auction where she went for less than retail.

I think that is a very good price especially with shipping included. I can't remember - wasn't she about $120 before tax? However, I don't know what she is going for nowadays -- is she typically going for less than retail?

If that is an eBay seller you are buying from, I can tell you they are breaking even if not losing a little. The doll was originally 120 plus tax. eBay takes about 10% of a sale, paypal takes a cut, and I have ordered dolls second hand and seen the ship charge and the 17" dolls run about 15 to 20 bucks. The only way you could get her cheaper would be if the seller was willing to take a bigger loss. Great deal in my opinion!

Thanks for the advice! I may just go for it, if I can afford it with along with the FF dolls. I believe she was originally 130 retail, because of the royalities Disney paid to Lily James. I know that's probably the best deal I'll get because of shipping and eBay fees added on, but you do always wish to get an amazing deal haha #^^#

I have one emergency credit card and I only use twice a year to keep it open and put no more than $50 on it at a time. I am religious about it. Credit cards make it feel like you're not spending money and that is a dangerous thing for some people. I grew up being extremely good with money and then to build credit so I could one day buy a house I started getting all kinds of cards in my early 20's. For years I never put anything on them that I didn't already have money to pay for, but very slowly that changed. After many years when I needed the money, it wasn't there, just the credit. I started having medical bills, car repairs, house repairs and other things like that, and then when I had no money to loan my family in need, I loaned credit and co-signed loans that I got stuck with.

Long story short... I was able to manage for quite a while and then simply couldn't. I never thought that'd be me because I was always really good with money, but as time goes on things change. I dug my way out, but it was awful and took so long with credit cards that had jumped to nearly 30% (more debt you have the higher they hike your rate and I had my brother default on a student loan I co-signed). I won't ever let that happen again. Now, I have a percent of my earnings go to a bank account under the bank holding my mortgage and that covers my expenses and is never touched for anything else. I have a separate account for savings, and then my spending account is at another bank so I'm not tempted to easily transfer money. For example: It was so hard to pass up Aladdin and Jafar, and if I used my credit card or could transfer money, I would have broke down and bought them, and it likely wouldn't have ended there. Yeah, I'd be able to pay it off at the end of the month, but it becomes habit and then it snowballs. You don't see it until it's too late. Bottom line is I didn't have the money at that time and it ended there. There's always great deals too good to pass up, and amazing things to get and a lot of them don't even cost much, but it all adds up. So, for me, credit cards are never an option, even in cases like this.

Sorry if I sound like I'm on a soapbox and getting totally off topic, it wasn't intended. I hate living in debt with a passion and don't ever want to fall in a hole like that again. I had plenty of people warn me who had the same thing happen, but "I wasn't like them." I was good with money and frugal about most things. I just didn't think I'd ever have so much credit card debt until it was just there one day causing me to feel hopeless and like a total failure. It was a constant strain and life draining feeling. I ignored it because I couldn't deal and I had family in serious need that I wasn't able to say no to, so my debt continued to grow. I don't ever want that to be me again. My only debt now is my mortgage and I'm working hard to get that paid off early within the next 10 years. I hate even having that.

I agree with everyone, that's a fair price, and right now you probably have less competition. I expect it to up closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas. Do you know how to do an advance search on Ebay? I'd recommend doing that and seeing completed listings and then sold listings. It looks like that's about the high end of the going price recently, but it looks like she's not really selling all the time. You could probably do a little better, but it seems quite fair with shipping, and maybe not worth the hassle to try to save a bit more if you spend a lot of time on it. Personally, it may sound cutthroat, but I'd try to find an "or best offer" first and offer a little less than average (factoring in shipping) since there's a number of them not selling. I've seen a few going for the $120's. Of course, it might be worth paying more from a better seller.

Got the wedding set, too. It's quite nice in person. I don't think the Carton Number indicates the number of the set itself. Can someone verify? I don't want to open the dolls to see the cert.

Now I just need to figure out where to store it.

The number on the carton is the same as the certificate on my set.
