DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion
Thank you for your advice Ryu! One final questions........do you think I will have a better chance of getting Elsa in-store than I will via the Disney Store website?

Both have the element of time. Store is guaranteedif you get there early enough. Online you can snap up quickly if you get a link right on time and are pro at refreshing various sources for possible links, but you're basically resigning yourself to just one doll, in case you wanted the set + tsums. I resigned myself to this fate this time, so basically missed out on Jasmine and Rapunzel, but got the wedding set, maybe. I think I'll try for Elsa online. Just the hassle of trekking it to Oxford Street that early...meh. Plus, if I miss out online, I justify it as "It was not meant to be, money saved", with a smattering of obvious resentment haha!

No matter the queue, you're gonna find one or two resellers there, unfortunately. Maybe more. The timing of ebay listing plus locations were a dead giveaway that a few were in the October 2014 Frozen set.

I helped open the store with the big key on tuesday and today! They gave me a miniature replica. I brought my damaged jasmine to the store and luckily they still had a few available, so I was able to exchange it. Really sucks for France and anybody who got cancellations in europe :/

I'm glad you managed to exchange Jasmine! If you don't mind me asking, which store was this? I'm desperately trying to track down Jasmine so I might be able to ask a friend to help me get one.

So has anyone else put off buying older dolls you want because so many new dolls were released this year? I had intentions of saving up and getting at least one or two of the older releases to add to my collection this year, but that has been impossible after trying to keep up with all the new ones. LOL, so much for saving... I am completely broke after all of the dolls released this year. :ugh:

Is anyone on this forum from from the Massachusetts area? If so do you go to the Disney store in Saugus Mass in the square one mall. I had luck there with the last Frozen set(well my mom did as I had to work) also I know a store in The Burlington mall just opened its small so I wonder if they are getting the dolls. If you call will they tell you if they are receiving the Le frozen fever dolls
My mom went to the one in... Braintree? I'm pretty sure, but she was also considering going to go to the one in Burlington. When she spoke to the cast member on the phone, they said that Burlington is less busy overall. They had a Jasmine pre-order available longer than Braintree. I think, don't quote me on this, that Burlington was also getting more Rapunzel/Gothel sets than Braintree was. I think Saugus is just too far from us, so I can't speak to that.

I wanted to get a job over the summer to at least buy Cinderella and Ariel, but that didn't happen. Luckily my parents are getting FF Elsa for a late present. Someday I hope to get either one, although I don't expect for my parents to help my get them, they already think 100$ is too much, imagine 300$ and up lol!

I didn't purchase the live action Cinderella this year and after I saw the movie I was totally gutted I hadn't gotten her. So I'm saving up for the FF dolls, but I'll likely get Cinderella as a Christmas gift this year. So thankfully she's about the only "older" doll that I want-- other than Coronation Anna and SQ Elsa. It's especially upsetting on those two because I used to follow this Livejournal for all my Disney news called D-Princesses (shout out if you're still a follower!) and I remember staring at the photos of the dolls and hemming and hawing and finally opting not to. For so long I passed up the releases (including Cinderella and Ariel) because I just couldn't afford the dolls. I'm in a better way now and I know that if I want a doll I should just GET IT because I'll regret it later! I'd love to have a full collection with all the older dolls, but as I just can't afford that much, I'm happy to have my favorites ^^

I don't normally go for buying off the secondary market unless I find a doll that's affordably priced. In fact, I just found a Kristoff on eBay that's only, like, $15 away from what the original retail price was, which I just had to grab. I wasn't interested in Kristoff before, but I think he'll work well with Frozen Fever Anna.

I'm absolutely in the same boat. There are some good deals on Ebay right now because of it and it seems they kind of stopped skyrocketing a couple of months ago. The deals are so good that If I had the extra cash right now I'd be tempted to get duplicates of some I already own to debox. I still don't have any of the designer Belle or Rapunzel dolls and I'd like the DFDC Aladdin/Jasmine. If not for all these new releases I would have bought them by now, or at least the Belle dolls and Aladdin set. Also, I'd get the D23 Elsa/Hans since it's going for not much over $300 right now. I have the 17" Coronation Elsa, so I'm not too upset over not getting that set.

Me too, with the exception of the D23 elsa/hans set, because I really really adored that set from the moment I heard about it, and the price was very high but not outrageous. That was a one-off, normally I'm not interested in secondary market unless it's a really good price. I just see myself as having missed the older releases and no real plan to go back and get them, but if it so happens that a good opportunity comes up, well then I'd think about it :) I don't really hunt ebay or anything though so any older dolls are going to be added to my collection pretty slowly.

Based on other people's experiences, it's different for any store. I've heard tales where releases were handled in an orderly fashion. I've also heard other stories where it's been complete and utter chaos.

At my store, my mom was there for the last 17" LE Doll release that fell on a Tsum Tsum day... and that was Jasmine. It was utter chaos. The crowd nearly killed each other trying to get to the tsum tsums. My mom had actually managed to pick up a Rajah tsum tsum, just to see if she could (I'm not a fan of them - much prefer the Itty Bittys myself). She actually had to go over to the Cast Member who was in the area to ask about the cards for Jasmine. Once she had that, she waited for quite a while before actually approaching the register to buy the doll, simply trying to wait out the Tsum Tsum crowd.

Now compare that to this week's release with Aladdin and Jafar, as well as those there to pick up Jasmine and their Aladdin blu-rays. A small crowd of between 10-15 people gathered outside the store, pretty much all of whom were collectors (with the exception of one shady looking couple who each got 2 Aladdins and 2 Jafars - one of each of the two of them) and were very happy to compare tales from previous releases.

So, yeah, everyone has a different experience and every release is different. As November 3rd is both a Tsum Tsum Frozen LE doll release day, I'd go in expecting madness and prepare to fight tooth and nail just to get even one of these dolls, let alone all 3 (Anna, Elsa, and the Designer Anna and Kristoff).

My store must be one of the more orderly ones then. We line up outside the mall before it opens, the guards come to the door at 8:00am to open up for the walkers, and consequentially us, and then we reline up in the same order in front of the disney store. Once the employees arrive, the number cards are passed out, and we simply wait till the store opens to be let inside and purchase the dolls. Usually you get the few who didn't get the doll they wanted and complain, and/or try to bribe people to give up their number cards, but that's as crazy as I've ever seen it over the past year or so.

Gods I'm so nervous for the 3rd. >_<; Must. Have. Elsa. @_@;

Well I want both but I'll take just Elsa if I can get her. Or just Anna. Just, dlkasjd.

I wish I could get both, but i highly doubt I can get two late presents, unless my parents won the lotto lol!

I'd rather be first than risk being last. This is basically my only chance to own a queen Elsa that resembles snow queen Elsa, I just hope it isn't a bloodbath there.

Too true, same goes for me. Like I said, I'll have to force myself to stay home and not leave to go get the doll around midnight! I've been waiting for her release for a long time, since I first learned they were making Frozen Fever actually, and to not get her would be heartbreaking to me! I didn't really get any sleep before leaving for the Aladdin release, thougn not for a lack of trying, but for this one sleep will likely be nearly impossible anyway. Likely, as soon as my mother goes to sleep I'll be thinking of sneaking out of the house to wait in, what will probably be a single person, line if I'm not careful. I always feel like such an idiot waiting for hours on end before anyone else even shows up, but, for this release especially, I'd rather feel that way than possibly not getting them at all!

I can't help but chuckle that the fact that its gonna be cold outside when the "Frozen" dolls are released. Didn't that movie tell you that the cold shouldn't bother you anyway? XD

But all joking aside, I don't think you guys will have to worry too much. Even though Frozen is a brand in of itself these days, I think everyone will have a pretty good chance of getting them in store.

Lol, the irony is not lost on me either! The last time Frozen dolls were released we had a light snowfall occur just before being let into the Disney Store. We all joked that it was Elsa welcoming us and giving us her blessing to buy the dolls!

-I certainly hope so. I've been able to get the others I own alright so far, but that still doesn't stop me from getting nervous every time I approach the mall the night before the release. Without fail I always think I'm seeing a bunch of cars in the distance near the entrance.

I'm going to the store at 8, but I'm going to be so pissed if I lose Elsa to a greedy scalper. They is my only chance to get a queen Elsa, and I love the possibility of being able to customize her to be snow queen Elsa; I'm not going to do it but it's a possibility.

I only want Elsa, but will likely get both just to complete the set. I've been purchasing $25 or $50 dollar gift cards after receiving my paychecks each week to help reduce the strain on my bank account. It's easier to take out small amounts over time and have them add up then to see a few hundred dollars vanish all at once.

If I had the money I would get both, but since I don't I want Elsa since I prefer her over Anna. And I finally got over my disappointment that elsa's cape isn't fully embroidered since I noticed it's accurate in the FF short. I bet that Elsa's cape will look stunning deboxed with all those pretty flowers.

Scalpers are the worst! Personally I'd be too nervous to go at 8 to my store because last Frozen release we had a large amount of people show up between 7 and 8:00. I think everyone still managed to get Elsa and Anna, in the end, but they were also a less popular set. Again though, I am very paranoid and every store seems to be different based on location, opening time, and procedure. Either way, good luck to you, I really hope you get her! That we both can get her! :)

Side note- Those looking for Kristoff didn't all get him that day, as evidenced by one group who pulled up right at 8, jumped out of the car, and ran to the Disney store thinking they could cut in front of everyone else, but he was also a lower edition size and they kind of deserved not to get him after that stunt.

Definitely! I'm not a deboxer myself, but I do love watching YouTube video's of people who debox there dolls, and I'll be looking for one of Elsa's deboxing starting a few days after she's released! It's nice to see the full detail on them without actually removing them from their packaging!

That would be amazing, I'd love to see them if you get her! (knock on wood) :)

I plan on bringing my iPad with me on that day, so I'll take pictures. And as soon as I get home I'm taking her out of the box. I bet that the flowers on her cape will look amazing unraveled to see the back view.
