Not sure if you have heard, but Disney has not renewed Scoop's contract.

His last day is suppose to be on October 8th on Main Street - WDW

Please take the time and email: Daniel.Cockerell@disney.com

Let Disney know that they have made a huge mistake and to please reconsider - keep it positive....let
them know the memories that you might of had with Scoop and pin trading with him on Main Street.

For us, this has been a huge part of Disney and Pin Trading through the years.

As always, THANK YOU!!!!

Does anyone know him personally? This news really makes it seem like the decision for him to stop trading pins was not his own.

Terrible news. He is a Main Street USA fixture. :(

I am sorry to hear this. Scoop was always a great person to meet in the park. He was a great ambassador to pin collecting and trading.
And this is coming from someone who has been collecting pins since the 80s.
This is not to mention the lose of employment is always a sad state of affairs.

I just spoke with him about this two months ago when I had him sign a pin he traded me two years ago. He said he was involved in the decision to stop pin trading but said he really didn't want to get into it, so I let it go.

Just a thought, but is it possible he is retiring?
I was wondering that too. Perhaps the ending of trading led to this. Or the end of him trading was because of impending retirement. Or, may hap he's going to be doing something different or promoted maybe? Because after all, it is a person and not just a character.

No... Now I want to go to WDW before he leaves(but doubtful with less then a month). That said, is he leaving Disney or is he just leaving his tenure as Scoop Sanderson; I recall him having another role at the Hoop de do review...

I was on his FB page and didn't see anywhere where he might be going to another roll, still with Disney. He's done several other characters in the past at different events, ect. Are they letting him go for good?

It was very sad news to wake up to this morning - the end of an era for longtime pin people, even if he hasn't been trading on Main Street for a while. :(

petitiion signed I copied the letter from the petition and sent it to the email in Danas post please do same Thanks Janet Rock on Holland!

No not me who created the petition :) just trying to help and make sure as many

This is the response I got: Thank you for contacting us regarding the Walt Disney World Resort. Our Guests' feedback is important to us and we thank you for taking the time to share your concerns about Scoop Sanderson. We regularly evaluate and make adjustments to our entertainment offerings to keep them fresh and relevant, and apologize that you are disappointed with this change. However, many other citizens of Main Street, U.S.A. will continue entertaining Guests daily at Magic Kingdom Park. We continue to add new shows and experiences to entertain our Guests here at the Walt Disney World Resort, including "Princess Elena Royal Welcome," "Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire," and coming this fall, "The Muppets Present?Great Moments in American History." We recommend following the Disney Parks Blog at https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog for the most up-to-date information and announcements, not only at the Walt Disney World Resort, but at our Theme Parks around the globe.

I'm super sad to hear about this as well. He became kind of a mythic figure that I hunted after for years (like a freaking Jackalope) and finally met him a couple of years ago for the first time. When I moved to Florida back in January, I went and sought him out again and was able to catch him several times. Each time I run into him, he remembers me, makes a point to ask how my classes are going, and always has is the highlight of my trip no matter what else happens. He will always be a treasured memory of my trips to Disney </3

He was at the PinCon event in Orlando right after the Pixar Pin Event. He actually never mentioned his "Scoop" character at all and certainly did not reference the Disney relationship in all the time he was there. He spoke with me for about 10 minutes about the Disneyana Convention pins I had in my trading book but as "Holland" not as "Scoop".

I am not clear what is being referenced to as "not being renewed" - is he terminated as a Disney employee, or, is "Scoop" being eliminated?? As mentioned earlier he did/does appear with others on Main Street when he is not "Scoop" (Barbershop Quartet). Also, he spent A LOT of time at PinCon so I wondered if he was "hired for the Event" or has some investment interest in the Event and new program being developed by PinCon owners??
